dinner was delicious — salmon with dill, and caper sauce. portabella burger prepared with fresh basil and mozzarella — good basic sandwich. we eat here often, and have always had at least good service — sometimes great. most of the food is locally sourced, very good quality. Aelred & Bernie, the owners, are great people.

Heard a lot about this place so was excited to try it. Best was the atmosphere. Service was average to below average. Took 40 minutes to get our meals on a very slow Wednesday night(2⁄3 empty). Flatiron steak, ordered medium, arrived grey in the middle. Duck was especially dry. Pork shank(a small plate special) was fine owing largely to a spicy hot sauce drizzled over it. Salads were ordinary. Cod cake,(a crab cake made with cod) was relatively bland. Well decorated and interesting inside, cozy bar and great assortment of taps and liquors(particularly scotch and bourbon), but the restaurant service was slow, often MIA and the food was not very good. We didn’t think any of our entrees were«above average». Too bad. There are many earlier reviews commenting on the poor food so why not fix this glaring weakness???

Great place for a drink. Live Irish music on Thursday’s is a lot of fun. The food is not even average. We had a starter salad that was just ok, the leek soup was awful, warmed water was the flavor. The ribs and the tenderloin flatbread had a lot of fatty meat to both and tasteless BBQ sauce on both. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box and were cold. Have a drink here and eat elsewhere.

My husband and I went to Ireland for our honeymoon, and frequently visit The Pub when we want another little taste of Ireland. The owner is actually from Ireland himself, so it’s no surprise that we love to come here! The food has always been delicious, and my husband says the Guinness at The Pub is just as good as what is poured at local pubs on the Emerald Isle.(I’m not a beer drinker myself, so I’ll have to take his word!)

The wife and I stopped off for dinner on our way up north. The atmosphere was casual, quiet and representative of a quaint Irish pub with typical fare. She had the Fennel Orange Chicken with grilled vegetables complemented with a local chardonnay while I had a draft with the shepherd’s pie. Both were sizable portions and phenomenal. The grilled vegies were a fantastic complement. The shepherds pie was sizable, a little bland but a little salt sufficed Service was exemplary and the hostess attentive to our every need. If you are in the area, looking for a romantic or conservative place to relax and talk over a great meal. make it a point to stop here above the rest. You wont be disappointed

I see lots of good reviews on this place but we have tried it 3 times now and the last time was pretty bad. Service was very good for around here. Food(pork) was very over cooked and dry. The famous chef came out to convince us we were wrong about our food. LOL. At least they gave us full credit because we did not finish any of the meals.(yep they were that bad). We will try again one day and hopefully it will be better.

Went to this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! Very cute interior with friendly service. Nice bar and clean bathrooms(always a bonus). The clam chowder is not a traditional clam chowder but is a broth based chowder(maybe Irish version?), the food was very well prepared(could use a little more seasoning) but overall fresh and fairly quick. Would go back and try the shepards pie!

Disappointed :(We used to frequent here. hadn’t been in a few years, had another couple in tow so decided to introduce them to the awesome Pub. Atmosphere is still impecably adoreable but the entrée prices seemed to have soared! Not wanting to drop that much on a weekday dinner we all opted for various sandwiches. None were impressive in size nor flavor and the fries weren’t even salted(a personal pet peeve of mine). I’m sure the specialize in their $ 18-$ 30 entrees and I’ve thought some of them good in years past. But based on this experience l am only providing 2 stars. Best advice… come here for nosh and drinks… go with a 2 cheese plate for $ 12 and a dessert to share. Cheese selection is always a great deal… I’m kicking myself for trying something new that I hadn’t had before. Note: we used to order cheese and the Margharetti pizza app(but that is sadly now missing from the menu) In my opinion — all the sandwiches should be yanked off the menu. but then all you would have is apps and high priced /large portion dinners… so I understand why they are on the menu… but what good is offering a price and portion variety if they aren’t worth the $ 10 to begin with.

Disappointed! The veggies were overdone & greasy. The lamb burgers were not done to order. The lamb stew had toooo many potatoes. The Black and Tan was black, absolutely no separation. The wait staff is geriatric.

I stopped at The Pub again last night with a friend and I was reminded why I always come back. It’s such a gem of a place! The bar selection from beer, wine and spirits is extensive and shows the good taste of the owners. The bartender even made me a «homemade gingerale» last night! It was amazing! They include in their menu an extensive cheese and cracker menu featuring an incredible array of different cheeses and other small bites. I love the traditional Irish fare available from the dinner menu. Wonderful specials that feature local and seasonal produce. Staff and owners are great. Love the atmosphere and it’s great since the remodel. Just how much this business means to the community was evident when The Pub closed temporarily for remodeling last year due to a fire in a neighboring building. Members of the community actually volunteered their own time to come in and help the owners with the remodeling and cleanup! How cool!

Service was awesome, I only hung out at the bar so I can’t state anything on food. But it smelled delicious where I was sitting. I was so full from the day I couldn’t eat other bite, but I wanted to with the Shepard’s pie blessing me with it’s beautiful scent 5 feet away.

The Pub is a solid place in downtown Oconomowoc, it’s a bit overdone on the decorations for my taste and feels very faux suburban but I’ve always had friendly service and decent food. I’d probably give this place 3.5 stars but given the generally average food I’ll round down to 3. Whether it’s burgers, Shepherds Pie, Irish Stew, or Corned Beef, the food has always been decent but missing that little something that would make it great. It’s not crazy expensive, but defintitely not cheap enough to bump up the rating due to value. All in all, The Pub is a fairly fun place but go for the atmosphere and drinks and know that the food will be solid but rarely great — I’ve traveled to Ireland and eaten at Irish pubs across the U.S. and I can tell you that pub food does not need to be lacking in flavor or excitement, as it typically is here.

Went here because I love Irish Pubs and wanted to try«fish fry friday» for the first time. I’m not from the state, so this weekly event peaked my interest when I first heard about it. Based off another comment for this place, the fish fry here was supposed to be really good. My first thought when it came out to my table was«twinkies». The fish had the color and shape of twinkies. Not letting that bias my overall decision, I tried the fish with some of the tartar sauce and the first word that came to mind was«chewy». Not only the batter but the fish itself. You could tell the fish was originally frozen at some point, but even frozen fish typically isn’t chewy. After a while, I got used to the texture and the taste wasn’t too bad. The side of potatoes was really dry, but not as try as the soda bread. Piled high with butter, the bread isn’t that bad. I do have to say the the bartender was extremely prompt and nice though, and the selection of beer and wine was great. Don’t think I’ll ever try the fish fry here again but I’ll probably check out the happy hour in the future.

Had Christmas Irish breakfast this afternoon. It was the best I have had in the US. From the Irish Soda bread with whiskey marmalade to the bangers and pudding it was a memorable meal. Glad you guys are open again and we will be bacl.

Been here several times, the food is always good and the staff friendly. The décor is very nice, I especially like the little rooms you can sit in. Nice little standing area by the bar if you just want drinks. Last time we just stopped in for drinks and appetizers. We orders wings and mozzarella sticks. I was amazed at the wings, some of the best I’ve had. So much so that we had a second order. The blue cheese dip was top too. And a decent portion of tasty mozzarella sticks.(6 or 8 I can’t remember). Great hot drinks and great brandy old fashioned’s.

Extraordinary food, service, and ambiance. If you have Irish blood in you anywhere, it’s a trip home to your roots. This is by far one of the best restaurants in the Oconomowoc/Delafield area. The service is outstanding and personable and the food is healthy and tasty. From the outside, you might not know what to expect as it looks like a ‘pub’. Once you get inside, you are greeted by a cozy bar to the left, with a wonderful selection of beer and drinks. Just beyond their bar is the dinning room. The room opens up with high ceilings and charming décor. You can choose a small cozy booth if you want a casual/romantic dinner for two or the open dinning room that can accommodate a large group. The food is amazing. The other night we filled up on the Lamb Stew and split a beet salad(with two kinds of beets) for dinner. Oh, and the soda bread… YUM! There are lots of menu selections and the specials to choose from — everything from fresh fish to steak or pizza. We’ll be back for more!

The Pub atmosphere is cheerful and instantly warming. Irish pride is on full display here. From its décor, well stocked bar to extensive menu, everything was above and beyond what we expected from a small town pub. Potato Leek soup and Beef stew were great. The surf & turf consisted of tiger shrimps and a 12 oz. NY strip steak. The shrimp was fresh and amazing!!! The steak was much more enjoyable after I dipped it in a mix of salt and pepper courtesy of table-side salt & pepper shakers(Please, no A-1!). Cindy was our server and is an absolute doll. She talked to us about Oconomowoc and our weekend trip and even relayed our trip to the owner, who also stopped by our table to chat. What a delightful and pleasant experience! The wine selection was quite impressive, and at 20% off every bottle: May your glass(and stomach) be ever full… At The Pub.
