Sausage Haus Meat & Deli

While in the area I thought I would stop by and try some of the haus made sausages.
The place looks very old school with dim lighting and that always cool looking tin ceiling. Meat cases on the right with all kinds of goodness and on the left is freezers with prepared foods. There was home made pizzas as you walk in for take and bake.
The guy behind the counter greeted me right away and I told him I was there for the famously hot beef sticks and the hot Hungarian. The hot Hungarians are noticeable longer than anyone else’s.
The hot beef sticks were pretty good but not seriously hot to me. They looked pretty lean with good taste and a smokey flavor. I will update my review after I try the hot Hungarian and report my thoughts.
Overall I liked the sausage haus because this kind of business is a dying breed and sausage shops are not plentiful anymore.

Best cuts of meat ! Best prices! You can buy several things at a time and the prices and quality will beat anywhere else you go. Personal service and they know my name!
Hungarian’s are our favorite! If you’re having a picnic or tailgate this is the best place to go. Everyone I grill for raves about the quality and taste of the meat.

What a great meat market the brats are out of this world there 12 inches long and they hardly cook down they have hot sticks that are out of this world as well

My grandfather used to take me here to get beef sticks to snack on during parades when I was younger. I still frequent this establishment because their hot food is amazing and their beef sticks are as good as ever. Wish they took credit cards.

The last several times I have been to the sausage haus I have been extremely disappointed! Each time 3 – 4 employees have looked me right in the eye and walked in back and came out 2 – 4 minutes later.
Then so unbelievably rude! When taking my order, the woman also very rude! I go back to pick up my food and the lady helped someone (I was right behind him) she then walked to the cooler took out a slab of meat, put it in the meat case, came back with my food and was going to use that same bag… seriously!
And lastly, when I paid her she tossed my change across the counter at me.
The first couple times I thought, oh just busy or having a bad day… done!
Will NEVER give them my business again!
And the burger and chic sandwiches were not impressive either, and that’s odd for them!!!

The place is a bit run down but the subs there are good & HUGE. I’m told the brats are amazing but haven’t tried them myself. Whenever we have people visit our faculty we always serve them a Muffalotta; these things are so big you have to see it to believe it. The record for eating one is under 5 minutes.

I live in milwaukee and I will drive to Sausage haus for food. been going there since 2002. The Food is great there never any issue with staff and the people in oconomowoc are friendly. we sit in the park on nice days its so relaxing people in your canoes stroll By and say hi to us what are you eating from sausage haus. Its places like that we need more of. Will never stop going till I die

This place has been here for many years, and it has always been a go-​to when in Oconomowoc. I have enjoyed the brats & sausages for tailgating at Brewers games and the meat in their cases always looks pretty good. They also have prepared food with good sandwiches including the muffaletta which was always a family favorite when my mom lived down the street — and it’s large enough to share (just like New Orleans). The Sausage Haus remains a nice place to have in Oconomowoc and conveniently located right across from Fowler Park. I’m definitely a fan.

We received a gift certificate to this place and thank goodness for that as we probably would never have gone there! Their brats are fantastic and their Italian sausage and breakfast sausage are pretty decent as well. They’re incredibly well priced and have quite a bit to choose from.
Sure, it’s not the cleanest place I’ve ever been and the people behind the counter weren’t incredibly warm or cordial, but it is what it is. The sausage we’ve tried is great and we’ll be back to try more.

Love the pizza. Great take out food including yummy fish fry! Super affordable prices for everything. Cash or local checks only tho! Always get ribs here for grilling. Some things can be a hit or miss but nothing to give a bad review :)

Some concerns

When it came time to cater our day-​after wedding brunch, we were given two choices. The instant the words «Sausage Haus» came out of my Mother-in-Law’s mouth, we both went, «oooooh.»
And let me just say, so did our guests. The brats were amazing, as always, but I must have heard the comment, «this is the best pulled pork I’ve ever had» ten times yesterday.
The sides were also great (beans, potato salad, fruit) and the service was prompt as always. Love me some Sausage Haus!

I love going to the Sausage Haus. I always stock up on the Italian Chicken. I’ve never had a problem with the people being rude (I have no idea what that other poster was talking about). Each time I’ve been there they have been pleasant and nice to deal with. No, they don’t take any credit cards, but that’s also part of the old school charm of it. I would never expect to be able to use a credit card in a place such as this.
There is always a line when I go here, but the wait is worth the fresh product. Highly recommended.

The Sausage Haus meats are usually not very fresh. The food they serve isn’t nearly good enough to justify how rude the staff is. The Haus is dirty and dark, and they don’t even take credit cards.

Great brats…

This place is truly one of a kind. We have had them cater for us countless times. The turkey and gravy as well as the bbq pulled pork for sandwiches is AMAZING.
Also, the mozzarella sticks here are to die for– homemade with wonton wrappers, and are huge. Very good for the price. This is one of those places that you don’t want to just keep driving by just by judging the outside. Stop in, and order something– you will NOT be dissatisfied. And– there is a park right across the street to go sit and relax at while you enjoy your Sausage Haus food!

I use to live in the area an frequent the ol’ haus all the time. Walking through the doors is like traveling back in time, it’s one of the best old school butcher shop i’ve come across. Really the stuff dreams are made of. Their charm lay in the fact that they don’t really care WTF you think when you walk through the door, they are just gonna flat out kick your ass on the quality of the food they serve and sell. Orders are all to go and first come first serve. They do take orders on the phone if they’re answering it that day. :)

The Sausage Haus is an Oconomowoc landmark. Stop by on your next walk around Fowler Lake for some tasty meats, or a fish fry, or pizza, or just grab a soda and some snacks. There’s a great selection of «home-​made» style desserts as well.
