This place is a rip off! I’m from Chicago with extreme prices and increased taxes. I come here and this lady just charged me $ 20 for a nail polish color plus the charge of my gel set. Not happy at all.

I went to Avie’s on the recommendation of a friend who raves about it. I loved the décor. There’s a huge beautiful fountain in the center of the pedicure room. The pedi room is really spacious compared to most places. There’s purse hooks behind each chair and trays on both arm rests. They covered the trays with towels for any concurrent mani services. And a person could stand between each chair with the trays down– relative privacy compared to most nail salons!
The deluxe pedi was perfect and uneventful. The nail tech did not introduce herself but I later asked and learned her name was Cindy.
The manicure was going okay for a while. I noticed that my gel mani was not any of the brands that I’m accustomed to, CND or OPI, no, this was some box – I’d never heard of them. I didn’t like that the nail dryer was tilted to shine light into my face. I could feel the wrinkles forming on my face! Then Cindy pulled out what looked like polish thinner, poured it into the gel color and shook the color. Right in front of me!
I was not happy with that. When she finally finished I though the cuticles covered with Polish must have been part of a new trend. At least I got a free face tan

Rarely do I write a bad review but this place was absolutely awful! Run far! I went in to get my gel removed and intended to get another color but quickly changed my mind. The place was completely empty at 5pm and they wouldn’t give me a straight price and wanted to charge me $ 22 just to have it removed. They used the standard tin foil and something that didn’t quite smell like acetone which dried my hands out. I sat for half an hour with my hands in a bowl of it and it only removed the polish on one of my fingers and made my nails look broken and gross. Then they got out the power tool for acrylics and I realized they didn’t know how to remove the gel at all! I left without paying and went to Asian Retreat instead.
