So the food was great and service was fast. The only issue I had was when I asked for chopsticks and the waitress laughed at me and then said«oh your serious, we’ll do you even know how to use them?»

No complaints other than I wished the portion was a little bigger. The food is good though. Nothing crazy to brag about but there’s nothing to knock either. It’s an average Thai spot. that’s not a negative thing either. Middle of the road isn’t a bad place to be.

They serve good Thai food here. It’s my go-to place for the most flavorful Pad Thai around. Coconut ice cream is excellent too. Their curries are more soupy than I prefer, but not bad. Another issue is their Massaman curry lacks sweetness. I prefer curries to be both rich and at least a little sweet. Serving sizes are hefty and prices are reasonable. Owners and servers are extremely friendly and attentive, they really are some of the nicest people around. Ambiance has a modern yet comfortable feel, moodily lit after dark. Dining room is kept spotless clean and though it is a small space, it feels more spacious the way the tables are arranged. I’ve become a regular here. Keep up the great work.

Not sure if they have a few cooks and they all make the dishes differently or what, but it seems like each time I order the same dish, it tastes different. And the spice levels never match up. One day, a 3 will barely have any spice to it– and the next day, the 3 will have me sweating as I eat. I don’t get it. Consistency…it keeps me coming back.

I went to this restaurant craving pad Thai. I left with an even bigger craving for pad Thai because that’s not what I tasted there. It tasted charred, kind of like fajitas. Egg rolls were good though.

Perhaps the only Thai restaurant north of Carlsbad, and it won’t let you down. My wife loves the green curry at this place. All other Thai restaurant’s green curries get bench marked against Rim Talay’s curry, and the typical answer will be — «Naah, Rim’s curry is better». The only occasion where it let us down when one of my friends ordered Spicy fried rice, spice level 6 and was presented with a dish that literally had 10 crushed green chillis sprinkled on top. These chillis were the real deal, and I have a feeling the kitchen didn’t intend to add so many to a level 6 dish. Needless to say, we ended up returning the dish and ordered something that was more manageable on the capsicum scale to our buds.

Ordered Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Pad See Ew to go. Both were pretty middle of the road. Service was prompt and friendly. Both were cooked with chicken breast which is healthier but they were a tad overcooked and dry. Not bad… but not that great either.

The taste is good, but the price for chicken/rice/noodles is too high. $ 38 for two for dinner. You can get more food and just a good taste at Thai Garden lunch buffet for under $ 20. What really bothers me is the small portion of rice they give you as a side. Give me a big bowl of rice, not this small cup worth. More rice = more stars. With the number of Thai restaurants in Oceanside, I probably won’t be back for awhile.

Best Thai food we’ve ever had, and we’ve eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants. Just visiting Oceanside, but if we lived here, we’d come back all the time!

Wow! We stumbled on this place and wondered in. We tried the beef Penang, eggplant with chicken and BBQ pork with wonton soup. Fantastic! The owner spent time visiting with us and offered suggestions, made us feel like family. We tried their coconut dairy free ice«cream» is not to be missed! Super fresh ingredients and obviously a labor of love. We’ll be back!

Came here before an assignment for work Super friendly and open walk in type of environment I’m vegan and if you’ve been here you know not everything is vegan But there are vegan options so the staff was very kind enough to lead me to which meals were best suited for vegans I only gave it four stars because everything was great food wise But I wasn’t blown away, great food and people nonetheless! I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for good meal right by the movies!

Just wanted to leave a review about eating here with my Celiac boyfriend. It’s a great option for gluten free Thai! Stopped in for lunch on a road trip from L.A. to San Diego. Cute little stop, good food. Not the most amazing Thai food I’ve ever had, but I really appreciated how helpful they were in identifying gluten free items. Definitely solid food, especially the Pad Thai. Curry was not as good.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time and I finally did. I usually to go to Ocean Thai so I wanted to compare the two. Rim has outdoor seating which is very nice but it’s pretty small inside. For some reason I thought Rim would be so much better but not really. I usually get some type of curry, Thai tea and the mango with sticky rice. I went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy so the service wasn’t that great so I understand. From where I was sitting I could see the employees using a microwave to cook some of the food. I love coconut milk so I thought the curry would have some but I could barely taste it. I also got the crunchy spinach salad which was pretty big and tasty. The curry came with a small portion of rice, I just wish it was a little bigger. The Thai tea was good but the boba wasn’t good at all I was so disappointed. I love mangoes so I had to try their mango and sticky rice the portion was on the smaller side and it wasn’t that appealing to my eyes. I probably wouldn’t come here again because it’s just not my type. I’m not saying it’s not good but to me it wasn’t great so I’ll stick with Ocean Thai.

Love this place! Great service and Big portions. Nearly every dish has a vegetarian option, and they don’t skimp on the tofu. The entrees are substantial enough to always take left overs. This is my go-to Thai restaurant in O-side. Close to the downtown area and strand after an evening at the beach. Prices are reasonable and the outdoor seating is heated on cool nights.

Very authentic in taste. Got the pad Thai with shrimp and it was very flavorful. Tastes just like back home. The noodles where cooked on point. And the Thai chicken fried rice was devoured by my toddler and husband. Not to Dry and not to wet the rice(for those who know what I mean when it comes to fried rice) Thai ice was so yummy, you could really taste the brew of the tea. Mango sticky rice, I wish had more coconut milk(but I think it depends on which part of Thailand the chef comes from, bec I’m use to more milk sauce) Over all coming here again and try out some vegan dishes! Parking is a pain to get here but worth it.

3.5 stars Service was slow, the three of us were there for almost 2.5 hours. Also, because it was warm outside, the AC was turned on and the door was closed. The smell of oil and smoke was overflowing into the dining area which made it very unpleasant. The sampler platter consisted of spring rolls, Tung Tong, egg rolls, wonton shrimp suit and gyozas. They were pretty good and I enjoyed having the variety. The fried spinach I’ve had in the past but on this particular day, it was very salty that I couldn’t finish eating it and drank copious amounts of water. I’m not going to lie though, the homemade coconut ice cream was amazing. I could eat that all day long. The sweet sticky rice with mangoes were good but they don’t give many pieces of mango.

Their lunch special is great! On the noodle section they only have pad thai and chow mein on the lunch menu price. So my usual dish I get is the pad se ew but since it wasn’t on the special I got the red curry instead. It was yummy! The portion was smaller than what I have seen at other restaurants but I was satisfied! Our waitress was super friendly and the outdoor seating was great since it was a sunny day! The place is super clean and pretty, I will be back!!! FYI: I went on a Thursday so parking was a little tough since they block a lot of the roads due to the street fair all day in oceanside!!!

Rim Talay is a great, homely Thai restaurant. Ambiance — the inside seating, where I ate has a cozy feel. The art selection on the walls gives the space an inviting, intimate feel. There is also some nice outdoor seating on the patio. Food — great dishes. We ordered the appetizer special of the day(a pork satay), the tom kha soup, panang curry, the basil & garlic stirfry, and finished the night off with the coconut ice cream. All the dishes were very enjoyable. I highly recommend the soup and the appetizer. Though the dishes were not as spicy as I prefer, upon my request the server kindly brought over a tray of hot sauces for me to add more heat to the meal. Service — friendly and attentive Beer — Rim Talay serves two types of Thai beer, Singha and Chang. We ordered both… for science. Though they are both light beers, my preference was for Chang, which was the more flavorful of the two. If you order beer, get Chang. Overall — enjoyable experience. I will definitely return again if I’m in Carlsbad and in the mood for Thai food.

AWESOME! Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve visited. They offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, which is a big plus. Just let them know what your dietary preferences are and they’ll point you in the right direction to which items can be modified, or already are, veg and/or gluten-free. Started with delicious, crispy Spring Rolls, perfectly paired with sweet chili sauce. For the entrée, Panang Curry… creamy and so yummy. It’s some of the best curry I’ve ever eaten. My friend liked my Panang Curry even more than what he ordered, although his Ginger Perfect entrée was also really good. The sauce in the Ginger Perfect, we both agreed, was amazing! Got the homemade Coconut Ice Cream for dessert. Highly recommend it! Service is awesome. They’re attentive, really courteous and nice, and great about keeping drinks refilled.
