I give Mio Posto 2 stars based on our experience tonight. I travel globally for my job and dine at many many restaurants around the world and throughout the tri-state area. Also my daughter is a CIA trained chef and I have eaten at top Michelin rated restaurants with her. Sometimes you just want to go to a local place and have a good meal with good friends, especially after working all week. We needed a nice, fun night out. We decided to try Mio Posto. What a huge disappointment in both the food and the service. Five girlfriends and I went there to celebrate a birthday. Three of us were there early and they would not seat us although the place was empty(they also would not take reservations for six people, it had to be over 10) OK that’s fine. We go to the bar and three regulars(older men) were sitting at the bar. We ordered wine and the men immediately told us that the seats at the bar were taken by people coming in(Apparently this place is a kind of a hotspot for older people) Relax, we had no intentions of sitting down… and aren’t you charming. When our three friends arrived we were shown to a nice table positioned so we could watch all the action as people started streaming in. The place filled up. Friday night is for the 5 Towns crowd(we recognized many people) and surrounding areas and you could see people had ‘their tables ’ even if there were only 4 in the group. It’s a place to be seen, not really a place for good dining. We have drinkers in our group and nondrinkers so like to get separate checks. Our request was refused right away in no uncertain terms. We then asked for the bar bill separate, the waiter agreed… it never happened. I won’t go into how they screwed up the credit card/cash payments. Maybe they should hire an accountant to sit at the register. On to the experience… we felt very pressured by the waiter to order immediately. He stood there as we were discussing what to order as it was obvious we hadn’t even looked at the menu. The food arrived very quickly. Not great, not bad, just meh but it came so fast that was no break in between. Actually the decaf coffee was the only thing that wow’d me. We all had salad, entrees, most had multiple glasses of wine or cocktails and coffee. We racked up a nice bill but it was all very rushed. No water refills, never saw the waiter again only bus boys. They did do a nice thing for my friends birthday when we asked for a candle in a dessert. A few people came over with a piece a cake and a candle and sang ‘Happy Birthday Miss America’ .cute ! That earned a star. Then one friend started noticing that we were being stared at by the service people in a way that indicated that they were waiting for our table. One of the busboys dropped the check at our table and then we proceeded to figure out the bill which took us a few minutes but it was very obvious that they wanted us to leave ASAP. We were only there an hour and a half total yet Were made to feel so uncomfortable! This place obviously caters to their flashy regulars and could care less about others. We always leave at least a 20% tip or more which we did tonight although this is one time I regret it. Loud, brash crowd, obnoxious service and mediocre food. A disappointment.

I am writing this review based on the level of unprofessionalism displayed by what I assume to be a manager. I was sitting down with some girlfriends to eat dinner, normally we would have chosen the Hicksville location, but they seem to be going through some financial difficulties and are only open for private parties. As we sit down, we are poured our water, and our bread was brought to the table by some of the servers. The wait staff were helpful and it was nice to see some familiar faces working from the Hicksville location. As we were being waited on a member of their staff comes over and tells the server that he wouldn’t be getting paid that day because there was«no cash.» Now, as someone who has worked in the industry, and just generally knows how to have some decency, this should have NEVER been said to the server in front of anyone let alone patrons who he is waiting on in the middle of his shift. It took every bone in my body to not ask to speak with him and let him know how absolutely unprofessional that was. Instead we decided to take our business elsewhere. Also, how can a restaurant that seemed to be pretty packed that night not have enough cash to pay their staff? I have not been back to that restaurant, nor will I be returning or anyone else whom was with me that night. It was visible to everyone at that table how mortified this server was to be told this at all, let alone in front of people he was serving. The problem of the restaurant not having enough money is no ones problem but their own and should not affect the lives of the people working there. We did not order food that night, we had the drinks we ordered before this happened, and decided after witnessing this that it was not a place we wanted to patronize if they couldn’t treat their staff with respect.

I’ve been to this restaurant two or three times And I’m always happy and satisfied every time I leave. The Portions are big so it’s worth the price. The Chicken Parmesan never disappoints. Th Penne Ala Vodka is also a great dish. I will definitely keep coming back.

Food and wait service are superior. One of the best Italian restaurants in the area. A bit on the pricey side; expect complete dinner [appitizer, salad, entrée and dessert] with a round of drinks, tip and tax to run about $ 100 per couple. My only negatives: if you want to be seated quickly, get there at an off hour, otherwise you’ll wait a fairly long time; its noisey.

I don’t get why this place is popular. I felt unwanted in here. More of a hangout than a restaurant. And I felt like it was a hangout I wasn’t invite to. Also think the big TVs in the middle of the dining room is a bit tacky. But to each his own. Can’t not mention that I thought the food was definitely good. Just not a fan of the vibe.

Pasta special was great. Fresh homemade pasta. Ordered chicken sorrentino. Everything was family style. Service was great. Ordered the house merlo. Nice wine smooth wine. I read other reviews about music on Saturday night. There was none but who cares the food was great.

Service was good, food was good baked clams were excellent. Followed by shrimp parmigiana and shrimp oregenata. Both excellent. But… Kitchen door propped open for what I guess a cross breeze for workers but giving dinner guests a full sound and view of dinner prep without the chefs table. There was also a view of dinner ware and utensils piled on racks with table cloths and Napkins piled high in view. Confusing to say the least.

Wayyyy too loud. If you feel like screaming across the table this is the place. Had to leave and went out to another place. Ears are ringing. I like bars I like music– but not at dinner. this is not the fun family style restaurant it used to be. At half the volume it would’ve been too loud for dinner. Seriously makes it super trashy.

I attended a baby shower here on Sat 6⁄20. I was very underwhelmed. For starters, the restaurant had 3 active parties. Two(including the shower I attended) were hosted in the main dining room with a few plants as a separator. The other party was a funeral luncheon. Very awkward to hear the«ooh and ahhs» of a baby shower while the other tables were solemn. The food took forever, the vegetables were clearly frozen. It seemed as though the least amount of staff was on duty. There was rarely ever anyone behind the bar, the wine bottles on the table were left empty until someone requested more. Overrated, overpriced and underwhelming.

I am sad i am even saying this… but i actually went back as we were given a gift certificate as a gift. I dont see any difference from last review only it was less crowded. Just not my kind of place i guess. Still yelling in the back…2nd star for OK food, but they should learn how to make a plate look a bit more appealing. Prices also a bit outrageous of ok italian food.

Great food family style dining. Enough to share for two big portions good chicken dishes great fresh fish to choose. The desserts are so indescribable because it’s soo damn good. On Saturday night it’s gets popping and live music if you don’t want to have a big place filled with noise don’t go because on the weekends is almost always crowded but I do get a seat right away without reservations It’s not that bad of a wait at night on a weekend. One of my favorite restaurants the one in hicksville is better thought they’re bigger and a different atmosphere. I suggest as a cocktail there a french martini very good and on point. Theyre chicken Parmesan is the best as we’ll as they’re creamed spinach very above average!

I have to agree with Joe C. on this one. The atmosphere is terrible and almost off putting especially if you just want to sit and eat the food that a lot of reviewers think is good… or even great. The food, what a restaurant is supposed to be judged on first and foremost, is mediocre at best and as Joe C. says, «lacks creativity». Having been there on two occasions(one sober and one not so much), I must say I would not go backfor these reasons and gave it 2 stars only because I admire that they found a way to be viable having bad food and a dated atmosphere. So kudos to them for that!

This would have been a four star food, but the rating here is dragged down by terrible atmosphere. We went on Saturday night, and there was live music. The singer was decent. But the problem was his speaker was ridiculously loud. We had a table of five, and it was a challenge to hear the people on the on the other side of the table. This detracted from the dining experience. We started with caeser salad, which was the best I’d had in a long time. Wonderful dressing and just the perfect amount of it on the salad. Meatballs were quite good, and the penne vodka was solid. My favorite dish was the veal parmigiana. Meals are served family style, and the portions are generous.

You just have to l now what you are in for. On nights with music, expect a llong wait very busy bar and loud music. Food is great. My favorites include meatball appetizer, best meatballs around, zucchini lingine Bolognese, shrimp lucioano. Their baked clams are great as US the chicken parm and house salad. If u want a quiet dinner go elsewhere otherwise come me behave some fun. And oh btw, look out for some free tequila shots especially if u are a regular…

The reviews about this place range from terribe, horrible stories to «over the top» fantastic stories… so I’ll just give a review on my personal experience at this place. It was a bit better than good. I often hear about the bar scene at Mio Posto — being great as the weekend approaches OR being terrible because of the crowd, I guess it depends on who you are. But me, I went for the food after attending a baby shower in the back room. So first the baby shower: the back room is nice and spacious though a long rectangle so the two sides of the room don’t really mix… but still a nice spot. Because of the food that I had at the shower, I was convinced that I would have to come back and get a dining experience out of this place. It was a Sunday so the bar was sort of packed. The service at the shower was fantastic — constantly asking if we needed anything, serving well and always keeping glasses of water full. So for the shower/an event space I’d say 4 stars. Then I went in on an off day(quiet time) for dinner. It was good. The baked clams were decent but the fried calamari was served cold and almost felt like it was sitting out way before I ordered it. That night I was in the mood for something really simple so I just had the penne with the a la vodka sauce. If pasta and sauce could be amazing, then Mio Posto knows exactly how do that! The pasta was cooked to perfection(I prefer mind to be al dente) and the sauce was really much more delicious than I expected — so five star for my go-to pasta and sauce place. I don’t remember dessert, but I know that we got two of them and neither was outstanding at all. The service during dinner was a little spotty as our waiter sort of disappeared, but they were also very kind towards the end as we stayed there until it closed and they never seemed to rush us. All in all, I’d definitely go back to fix my pasta craving… but the mixed review makes me think that place is average. I wouldn’t go towards the end of the week and endure the wait, it’s not THAT great. Good place to go on a Tuesday afternoon I guess. Oh yea — and there are always 50% off groupons, I highly suggest you take advantage before you go!

I’m gonna start off saying I love Italian food. I have been here a few time. I have been meeting to write this review but I wanna to come back on a busy night. The first time it was good. The second an third time were horrible. The food was alright not as good as the first time I originally went. But my god the noise I don’t know if this place want to be a club or a family style Italian restaurant. They definitely have to pick. And also one thing I look at waiter especially if there serving food is there hand and my waiter finger nails were long, had dirty under his nail! No good. Paid for my bill and left hungry with my guest.

Best Italian food I had in a long time. I’m originally from Oceanside but reside in California the past 35 years. On this trip I was in Oceanside for one night and we ate there and absolutely loved it. I ate in three different Italian restaurants in Manhattan and none of them can even hold a candle to Mio Posto. The baked clams were the best I ever had in my life. We had the fried calamari, shrimp oreganata and sausage, chicken with grilled vegetables! Everything was absolutely excellent! Looking forward to my next trip back to Oceanside! I love the fact they had big-screen TVs in the dining room so the men can watch sports if necessary instead of being on their phones!

Have been to Mio Posto on multiple occasions and have enjoyed my experience there. Overall the food is good… Nothing crazy. Ordered a meatball appetizer($ 15 for two!) and it was exceptional. Penne ala vodka was also very tasty. Everything else was pretty standard. Service was friendly but extremely slow. There was a private party — maybe this slowed down the kitchen? Our waiter was very good at directing our order to fit our party of five– you have the option to order family style which is nice!
