The only reason why we stopped here was because the 5 fwy was bumper to bumper to san diego. The food here was sooooo bad! We ordered a hamburger and it was NOTGOOD. How can a restaurant not know how to properly make a burger? The chili cheese fries were disgusting too. We asked for ketchup and I swear this bottle was probably kept under a dirty sink or something because it was filthy. The service was not good too. I think there were four tables of customer and food took way too long. Thanks but no thanks. Never coming back again

Service here was horrible!!! The tall brunette waitress kept on chit chatting with another waitress behind the counter after my husband ordered milk and never gave it to us. I had to go and ask for one. I noticed as we were eating She kept on wiping her nose and touching her hair while waiting to serve the food. Disgusting! Not once did she check up on us. It also took forever to get our check after we asked for it. The biscuits and gravy were the worse my husband ever had. My bagel and cream cheese were good but you can’t really go wrong with that. The hash browns were burnt. Never coming back again no matter how bad traffic is on the 5.

I got the florentine eggs Benedict last time. The English muffin was soggy and everything was bland. Next time I tried the cinnamon rolls with a side of eggs and sausage. Cinnamon roll isn’t fresh it’s refrigerated and microwaved.

Great place to eat. I’ve had breakfast and lunch here and both are good. The portions are big, you get a full plate.

Harbor House is a great non-pretentious local breakfast place. There are a lot of breakfast spots in Oceanside and many have a pretty long wait. We’ve never had to wait here — there are plenty of tables/booths and a counter inside plus a few tables outside. My favorite is the Spinach Eggs Benedict and I add tomato and bacon to it. Delicious! My husband likes the chicken fried steak breakfast. Their home fries are a little light(not-browned) but they still have good flavor. I would probably ask for those extra-crispy. We’ve come here about 5 – 6 times now and the service is pretty friendly.

I’ve never had a bad meal here and they have the best pancakes around. Breakfast is great here and food is American comfort food and they do have done specials that are awesome. I like the slo-melt sandwich. Their salad is awesome and they’re made with primarily butter lettuce heads for folks who don’t like stems of romaine or that bagged salad feel… I’m coming back!

Yummy!!! Pumpkin pancakes with walnuts were great. Omelette with bacon(bacon could have been cooked more is only complaint). Home fries were BEST ever had with onions and peppers with a little crisp on potatoes. Side of coffee cake was perfect accompaniment. Kids pancakes shaped like Mickey and crispy bacon. Very good pricing. Very good service.

This place is pretty cruddy. The place looks run down and there weren’t even table in the booths! Wth? There were flies SWARMING. Inside and out. We had to move inside mid-meal but they were inside too! The garlic fries are awesome but that’s about it. We had: A burger with garlic fries Pulled pork sammy with garlic fries …I would go back for the fries. The location in Dana Point is what I was expecting. I grew up going there on many a drunken night. And the food, service, and atmosphere are really cool. This Oceanside location is just gross.

5 Stars for food and décor. 1 Star for professionalism. We’ve come twice to this location and both times we’ve encountered the same problem. We had a cheerful blonde bring us the best coffee we’ve had all week and a taller lady with a black ponytail as our waitress. Both are prompt, courteous and efficiant. But the real problem is the fat crone behind the register. The first visit this old lady(annieta or whatever) bursts in from the next door starts, with no exaggeration, to bark orders to all the waitstaff FROMACROSSTHERESTURANT. Excuse me? Do not use that tone in a professional workplace. She’s yelling at the little blonde who was on the phone with another customer! The second time we asked a few other tables who seemed to be regulars. Evidently this is commen practice because her parents own the resturant No wonder she works here no one else but mommy and daddy can probably stand her demeaning, condicensding attitude. This place would do so well with just a change of management.

Our favorite family restaurant in Oceanside. Very friendly and attentive servers. We had the pear strawberry grilled chicken salad which was big enough for 2 to share and very fresh. We also had the turkey Slo Melt with Ortega Chili’s which was grilled and very tasty, with a delicious potato salad on the side. Peach Bellinis and iced teas were a nice complement to the lunch.

We tried so hard to love this place. Have recently moved to the area and wanted a great breakfast spot. This wasn’t it and I’m still trying to figure out why people love it. I got the hash with eggs and potatoes. The hash was so dry, like eating hay. The potatoes had no flavor at all. Our waitress seemed put off that she had to serve us. My husband said to me while we were eating«how’s your breakfast?» My reply was«there is no way I would ever wait 45 minutes again for this food». We left and decided we wouldn’t be back.

We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated with a party of 6. When we finally got our seats it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks and they forgot some drinks as well. The food was ok but they messed up and confused some of our food. Ordered a cheeseburger for my son and they brought out a grilled cheese. The lady said you order a grilled cheese and we all said no we didn’t. And she Continue to say that what we orders(we know what we ordered lady) anyways save your self some time and go somewhere else. We’ll never come back

After a slew of beach themed cafes along Coast hwy, Harbor House sits at the end of the road. The vibe is beachy and family-oriented. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We were a large group of 8 and had a field day with their menu. We ordered everything from a short stack to a hearty chicken fried steak. So let’s break it all down. The breakfast specials come with your choice of bread, potato, egg and protein. I ordered the chicken fried steak, with eggs over easy, hashbrown, and sourdough toast with a short stack on the side. The chicken fried steak was decent. Not bad but not too memorable. The eggs and hash, on the other hand, were pretty great. Yolk perfectly runny just how I like it, and the hash has beautifully crisped edges to add a great crunch. The short stack, which I didn’t eat until the next day because of the sheer size of the plate, was pretty great even as a left over. The greatest thing I probably tasted from the restaurant, however, was something I didn’t even order. Before packing up the left overs, I stole a bite of my cousin’s coffee cake(which she ordered in lieu of a toast), and it was the best end to a large meal. The cake was moist and the crumble topping was the perfect crunch and sweetness. I was a little jealous of her choice. It a definite must have. After a big breakfast, the staff was more than accommodating with packing up our left overs and how we wanted to split our bill. The one downside was probably the 35 minutes we waited to get our food, but we attributed it to how big our table was and how varied our orders were. Overall a good experience.

Great spot in town for breakfast. Fruit bowl to start had nice ripe fruit. No grapes which was nice. The homemade corn beef and hash was good. For a side I got coffee cake and it was ok with a nice layer of brown sugar. Service was good. The wait was 10 minutes.

Ehhh… Probably won’t be coming back to this place. Service was just ok. The bathrooms were gross and when someone flushed the toilet while we were washing our hands, it scalded our hands! Their cinnamon rolls are not made fresh and they’re microwaved to be heated.

I love harbor house. Sad to hear that the newport location is gone. I come here a lot on the weekends(which is packed) or the evenings(which is slow). And no matter what, the food is delicious, and the staff is friendly. I love the atmosphere of mom and pop owned diners, and this places dishes that up for me. It definitely doesn’t hurt to try this out.

Cozy environment with friendly staff and prompt service. This family-owned business is a gem in Oceanside and I highly recommend the breakfast and brunch. I am a big fan of the Salads, which come as a generous serving of fresh produce and meats sourced from the market right next door. I recommend the Cobb salad for a yummy lunch, as well as considerable thought to the daily specials not on the menu. I’ve had the impressive caprese scramble, pumpkin pancakes, and meatloafs. Have yet to be disappointed. Menu wise, I am a big fan of the scrambles, particularly the Muscle Man; a healthy offering of proteins and veggies while remaining robust in flavor. The staff is responsive and timely; always a warm welcome when entering and I have yet to experience inconsiderate delays. I highly recommend!
