Alias Smith & Jones Restaurant

I came here for a baby shower held in one of their small private rooms in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant has an old-​timey, rustic feel to it with its dark wood interior and heavy, clunky dishware. We were given a pre-​selected party menu which included a soup, salad, and entrée.
The French onion soup was missing the melted cheese on top, so it was just onion broth with a floating piece of soggy bread, and a side of shredded Parmesan for the table. 2 stars.
The garden salad was a sad plate of thrown-​together lettuce, red onions, and tomatoes with some dressing. 1 star.
I didn’t have a lot of faith for the entrée after the soup and salad, but it was actually very delicious. I had the skirt steak, cooked to a medium-​doneness with good flavors. My friend had the penne alla vodka, which she also really liked. 4 stars.
The service was very good. There were multiple waiters working the party, all of whom were mostly courteous, if just a little dismissive. 4 stars.

Been coming here for years. Pretty sure this place has been around since my parents were first dating. The bar area is something of a classier style with showing the age and durability of a classic fashion. The bartenders are all quite good at what they do. I highly recommend a Manhattan made with Maker’s Mark. In regards to their menu there are numerous choices in my opinion. I love their blackened Cajun sea Scallops, but their specialty is more to do with their meats. I have had their pot roast, their turkey dinner, and their chicken stuffed with cheese and Italian prosciutto. Their vegetables compliment any meal, though their mashed potatoes are a man’s best friend. There is always a good place to sit in this restaurant and the waitresses all know the menu like the back of the hand. Great service, always a good place to go to.

I have been there a number of times for the Sunday Brunch, not a Buffet!!! (Thank God).
The Brunch is cheap, plentiful and delicious, I strongly recommend it.

This is our go to place. Solid American food. Consistently good! The fish is very fresh and the filet mignon is huge and beautiful. You start with a crudité and garlic bread but don’t fill up on it because they give nice portions of food. Love the chicken tidbits, Wiener schnitzel, crispy chicken, French dip… fries, etc. you know you are in a good place when you see the same locals week after week!

There was a time when going there was on «a wing and a prayer» for the food and service. Happily, for the past few years, it’s been consistently outstanding. The bar area is very brit pub environment, dark woods, captain’s chairs, intimate. The main dining area is in stark contrast, bright and open area. The specials are really good; same for the french onion soup. The vegetable sides are properly prepared, tasty, and crisp. The sliced steak sandwiches are superior to many orther restaurants. I’m not a fan of their burgers — nice size but kind of bland but I do like the steaks. Everyone we brought here looks forward to the next meal there. The mixed drinks actually have a full measure of booze and you get a full pour of wine. Sometimes it could be a problem finding parking.

I loved this place. I sat at the bar with my wife and the bartender was courteous and professional. Dinner came with crudités and a basket of garlic break which was unexpectedly buttery and delicious; worth it for those who are calorie conscience. My wife had pasta and a salad which she finished which is rare for her (to finish). I had a steak sandwich special and a crock of French onion soup which did not disappoint. This is going to become our new place for sure. Don’t expect any more reviews for anywhere else anytime soon. This place is «money in the bank.»

French onion soup is amazing been to this spot on holidays too like Valentine’s Day and we really enjoyed the food my favorite steak tibat sandwich by far no other place can touch that meal

I think they have the best steak tidbits sandwich I’ve ever had. There other meals are pretty good, but I only go there for this delicious steak tidbits sandwich!

Had my baby shower there on 3÷15÷15 and I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food was outstanding and the staff was absolutely wonderful. Even the occasion cake was amazing! I will definitely be back here for meals and would HIGHLY recommend this place for any event or special occasion. Thank you for making such a special day a great experience!

One of my favorite places to go. Great little local place. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. I love the steak tidbits and French Dip. I’ve eaten here dozens of times and never had a bad meal.

This is a nice place for sundsy brunch a lot of food and the waitress is friendly and fast prices cant be beat for a brunch

Alias Smith and Jones has always been a great restaurant in Oceanside, N.Y. We were happy to book our rehearsal dinner there. We got a great price for our buffet style diner. We also did a self-​serve beer and wine station. The food was great and so was the service. The waitress and waiter who worked our party couldn’t do enough for us. We have them to thank for an awesome start to a perfect weekend!

The food and service was super here. We went on a Friday night with no reservation and were a party of 7 so we waited at bar for just a little bit and enjoyed drinks from the friendly bartender .They have quite a large menu which worked well for our group of picky eaters! We all were extremely happy with our meals and desserts as well. We will be back.

When I first moved to Long Island in 2006 this is one of the first restaurants I went to with my cousin. The food was very good an I loved the ambiance of the place. There are so many restaurants here that I forgot about them wanting to try them all. Last night my husband an I wanted to go somewhere for a nice meal and not have to deal with the parking/​craziness of RVC and I remembered this hidden gem. Seriously a hidden gem, off of Longbeach Road behind Levins pharmacy only locals now of this place and pretty sure they don’t want to share. The food was still amazing, great service. I ordered the scallop special, it was cooked perfectly in addition to my husband ordering the Cajun scallops. I loved that we didn’t feel rushed an are server Mike was more then happy to caterer to my 2 year old. Love that we were greeted with a smile and left with the same smiles from the bartenders. Absolutely love this spot and will be back.

Food is consistently good. Service is also. Weve eaten there many many times. One of the best local places around. Fair prices.

Anytime I come here its always for a work related function. The staff are always pleasant, food is decent. A few times I’ve had some sort of pasta dish which I usually like. Not sure about anything else as I always have something similar anytime I go.
