This place was always hopping when we drove by so we decided to give it a try. We got the brisket sandwich with beans, Mac and cheese, the dirty Dave pork sandwich. The Mac and cheese was horrible… dry and tasted like day old velveeta. The brisket sandwich was ok, salty and I can see how the other reviewers compared it to pot roast. There was no smoke favors. The dirty Dave was topped with onions and coleslaw. It wasn’t too bad and my wife liked the sweet BBQ sauce they make. Overall the food was good, but doubt I would go back or recommend it to others.

This is not BBQ but Pot roast! Turn in your smoker So I ordered a pound each of brisket and pull pork. Not being able to wait until I got home i opened to brisket in the car to grab a slice for the ride and was disappointed to see if was shredded. Yuck. Tasted like pot roast. NO bark anywhere. What a waste at over $ 15/lb. Why would anyone completely ruin a brisket like that. At home i tried the pulled pork. no spice/rub or smoke flavor just roasted pork taste. To sum up if you think this is bbq you are wrong. Do not be fooled into wasting your money.

Not real BBQ, but I figured that going in. The brisket is more like a shredded beef, it was very chewy. The corn on the cob was half rotten, and the coleslaw tasted like it had horseradish sauce in it. The only think that was okay was the Mac and cheese. Only ate half of the brisket platter and threw the rest out :(

I stopped in Charlie K’s and had the best Pit Beef sandwich I ever had. What made this sandwich so great was the care taken to trim any gristle or fat from the sandwich. The meat was tender and tasty and easy to chew. Often times Pit Beef sandwiches are ruined by biting into gristle which causes the dilemma, do I chew or spit it out. That is always a no-win situation. I can t wait to come back and try some other offerings. I anticipate greatness judging by the care and customer consideration found in the Pit Beef sandwich. I love this place!!!

stopped by for lunch, had a brisket sandwich, mac & cheese, baked beans, iced tea. my friend had a pulled pork sandwich. the sandwiches & sides were delicious, tender & flavorful– but the iced tea was bland. About $ 22 total, it was worth it. they have basic wooden picnic tables & umbrellas on a small grass lawn, very casual. will be going back…

Wow! We had dinner at 5:30 pm today and it is now 9:00 pm and we are still talking about this delicious meal. We had a pulled pork sandwich platter with macaroni salad & baked beans and a beef brisket sandwich. The meat was so tender, juicy and fresh. You won’t go wrong with this place, the meat is succulent, the sauce is just right and it is reasonably priced. I paid about $ 21 for two adults and one child. The folks behind the counter are kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Pretty decent BBQ when you are feeling lazy. Their sauce is really good. The brisket is probably the best here but everything else is average. Nothing that particularly stands out but if you’re in a hurry and just don’t fell like cooking or grilling, Charlie’s can be a good substitute. It’s really just an average place and don’t expect too much and you’ll be okay.

Good ribs with no frills pick up place at reasonable prices. A take out order place for families. The ribs were tasty and soft. Pretty good considering its price. Baked beans side was surprisingly good while coleslaw was average. It is basically a pick up stand next to a busy road, so not much to say about ambiance.

This food is absolutely horrible. Not fresh. Not tasty. Very very poor quality meat. You will be disappointed, and probably won’t feel so great afterwards.

A trip to Bethany Beach usually means a few things, Fisher’s Popcorn, Thrasher’s Fries, Kohr Bros Ice Cream and the occasional roadside dive. Every time we head down to the beach we pass by Charlie K’s BBQ and comment on how cute it looks. On this particular trip, my friend and I were both craving BBQ and decided to try Charlie K’s. Charlie K’s is a BBQ stand on the side of the road and when we went it was around 2pm and fortunately there wasn’t a long line like we have seen some other days. The menu is very basic with only a few options but that’s fine because everything they offer, they do well. My friend ordered the Smoked Turkey Sandwich and it was topped with BBQ sauce. The turkey was moist and sliced thin and paired well with the smoky, tangy BBQ sauce. We then shared a side of Mac and Cheese and it was delicious. The pasta was nice and tender and the dish was cheesy. We inhaled it in under 30 seconds and regretted not ordering a larger portion. On my next visit, I will without a doubt order this again. For my meal, I ordered the BBQ joints namesake, the«Charlie K.» This sandwich was brisket, cole slaw, onion and BBQ sauce on a kaiser roll. It was messy, but delicious. While we were enjoying the delicious food, Charlie K himself came outside to make sure we were enjoying our meal which was very sweet. For great BBQ in Bethany Beach on the side of the road, make sure to visit Charlie K’s BBQ. The portions are large and the prices are fair making it a great deal.

I had the pull pork here and really liked it. I always hate that they give u enough meat for 2 sandwichs but on the upside its great for leftovers. I really liked the fact they put green peppers in the bake beans. So so cool. And love thier hotdogs too.

My husband and I frequent Charlie K’s often, as we live in Ocean View. This year Charlie K’s has kicked it up a notch… no more fried food… everything homemade even their cornbread and macaroni salad! They make their own sauce too. Had the beef brisket platter tonight… absolutely amazing and fairly priced too. Don’t miss Charlie K’s…best BBQ in Bethany!

This place hits the spot for good, cheap BBQ. Have been coming here for the past 3 summers and the food has always been consistent. The pulled pork is very moist and flavorful. Not overly seasoned. You can still taste the pork with a nice amount of smoke. The brisket is not typical Texas style brisket. It is shredded and sauced. Nice hint of smoke and the meat has a nice flavor. Don’t compare this to real Texas brisket and you will be fine. Tried their special smoked ½ chicken. Nicely smoked and very moist. Could have actually used a little bit of seasoning but pretty tasty. Sides are decent, nothing great or too bad. You get great value at this place with large portions of meat for sandwiches or platters. Ordering by the pound is another great way to go. Family bought corn, buns, slaw, potato salad at Giant and got the meat here. Saved a ton of money and their price by the pound isn’t bad at all.
