Shawmont Hotel

I had been recommended to this hotel by a local friend and I can say I am unimpressed with the service. I did not stay here so I cannot speak for what it is like to stay but I can say I’m disappointed with how making a reservation was handled. I live in NJ and had friends coming into town to visit and wanted to stay here. We are 4 27 year old girls who travel together a lot and stay in rooms with pull out couches. I emailed asking if we could do this in one of the rooms with the above and for the prices. I got a response quickly with prices and recommendation for which room would be better for the 4 of us. I asked another question and the next day got a response from a different person and was ultimately told that the 4 of us could not stay in a room together. Who ever is responsible for booking rooms should be on the same page about guest policies. They also spoke down to me once I revealed our age and I felt unfairly discriminated against due to that. I’m very disappointed at what happened and how I was responded to once the lady realized we were 4 young girls trying to stay in one room that had a queen and pullout couch at the hotel. I will not recommend this hotel to any visitors in the future and neither will the person who recommended me here.

This is an outstanding hotel –B&B. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the décor is bright and cheerful and the entire place is clean and well organized. The location is great and rooms are nice. All of that with a great big front porch filled with white rocking chairs facing the Atlantic Ocean — what more could you ask for?

You get what you pay for. The Shawmont was not the Four Seasons, but it was just as expected for a little over 100 per night.
Simple, clean rooms. Nothing fancy.
The nice thing about the Shawmont is its location. Its literally right across the street from the beach and the boardwalk. And you can walk up to Asbury Park if you want to.

A wonderful beach hotel in Ocean Grove. The staff is very friendly and the water view rooms (with porch) are perfect to hang out on. They offer discounted beach passes and provide beach towels. The hotel also provides a basic «continental» breakfast at no cost. The room was updated and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.
