Cheese HEAVEN! What an EXCELLENT little shoppe to conclude a day of shopping on the shore. From homemade pastas and sauce, to breads and hand sliced cheeses from round the globe. An absolute MUST if in the area! While they were slicing our selections there was plenty of decadent delights to sample, which only makes your final order larger as the favors are a MUSTHAVE! GREATPLACE! FRIENDLYSTAFF! I will DEFINITELY be back, not just for myself but, for a homemade basket of cheeses to give as a gift!

I don’t live near here nor have I ever been here… so how can this New Yorker possibly give Cheese on Main 5 stars? In December 2014 my boyfriend and I received our first of 5 monthly cheese deliveries from Susan. As a surprise gift from a friend, we were shocked and soon utterly OBSESSED! The cheeses were different and absolutely amazing. She sends three different .5lb blocks of cheese per month with 2 accompaniments(usually some sort of cracker and then a jam or salsa). Our friend said Susan asked what we like(nutty, crunchy cheeses for me and creamy for him) when she first called up to place the order and boy does she deliver! She selects a perfect mix of both each month. Each and every delivery comes with an index card signed by Susan describing each cheese in detail and the perfect wine pairings for each(and often a little side note– happy new year, happy holidays, etc). Since my boyfriend is a wine expert for a living it is the absolute perfect tuesday night once a month for us. We cannot get over the english cheddar with mustard seed and ale(to die for!) Susan is meticulous in caring for her customers and though I’ve never met her I look forward to stopping in one day on a future trip down to AC or the jersey shore to say hello(and of course pick up as many cheeses as our hands can carry). THANKSSUSAN! You are are the best!!!

Susan was terrific! She gave me a personal, private lesson in cheese for my upcoming party. With her help, I put together a magnificent cheese board that my guests are still raving about! This store, and its owner, are a gem, and not to be missed if you are serious about cheese.

As soon as you walk in you know you’re in a specialty shop. Main street America has Main Street businesses, but Ocean Grove is not ordinary. And this Main Avenue store, in this quintessentially Victorian town, offers life to the kitchen. Susan, the owner, is always behind the counter with the smiles and knowledge that come only from pride in one’s product. There are always samples to delineate what cheese will best serve the occasion. This place is terrific. My only complaint is that I cannot take the building, the help, and the inventory with me when I leave town in the winters.

Great little cheese shop that you will almost miss if you are not looking for it. It’s a small store but packed with goodies. They have lots of different cheeses, everything from blue to monchego to Brie. The woman working when I was there yesterday was extremely knowledgeable & helpful in making suggestions based on what I told her I was looking for. They are very willing to offer you a sample of whatever cheeses you are interested in. I ended up buying a Brie, monchego, an incredible mango & ginger sheep cheese & horseradish cheddar spread. I also picked up some great crackers & a fig/walnut bread. Last night we tried them all & they were delicious. The only reason I gave them 4 stars & no 5 is that their prices are a bit high for the cheeses. If you’re in Ocean Grove definitely stop here!

Great places like this won’t stay open if we buy our cheeses and pates from the big-box supermarket. The owners are super-friendly, the selection is excellent, and the shop, while small, has a great village feel to it. Definitely a great place to stop by for an accompaniment to your pre-dinner cocktails.

Great little shop. I’m here at least once a week. Great selection of cheeses and snacks to go along with them. They have the best bread too! The onwers are very knowledgable and friendy. A must visit if you’re in the O.G.

The staff person behind the counter was incredibly helpful and knowledgable. She was not the owner, which shows great training and pride in the shop. The cheeses as many have already said were delicious and plentiful. I have never sampled at a cheese shop the way you do in an ice cream store. She cut off a slice of so many cheeses for us! It was lovely and we definitely bought plenty of cheese because of it. I also bought these amazing goat cheese caramels. They didn’t even last 24 hours because they were so irresistible. The space is too small, but that just adds to the charm.

We love this place! Cheese on Main is the first place we stop when we come to the shore. Entering the tiny one-room shop is like walking into either a European fromagerie or a warm hug, I can’t tell which. Susan(the owner) knows the locals by name and can suggest the perfect cheese for any occasion; we ordered a cheese platter for our daughter’s graduation party that was out of this world, and beautiful to boot. We’ve gone in for a bag of goodies for the beach, to stock the fridge for the weekend, to order baskets for gifts, thank you’s, sympathy, you name it. :) Can’t wait till we can order online!

This is hands-down my favorite cheese shop, and I’m tough to please. Every time I walk into this tiny store front, I’m reminded that good things come in small packages. The walls are lined with jams, chutneys, sauces, spreads, pastas, breads, cookies, and there’s always a table to the right with free, ample samplings of the advertised cheese of the day, usually along with some sort of spread and crackers or bread. At the heart of the shop is a cheese case filled with more cheese than my eyes know what to do with — I’m in a near panic looking at all my options! But I’m immediately put at ease by the warm and engaging shop owner who is always so happy to help me determine what I’m in the mood for by slicing me samples of anything I want to try, and everything she thinks I should try. I usually end up buying what she thinks I will like — it’s like she’s the cheese whisperer! The selection and service are outstanding, and the prices are so reasonable! In addition, she has set up an old school filing system for customers who want to record their cheese purchases. To the left of the cheese case you will find a metal box with alphabetical tabs and large index-type cards whereon you can fill out the cheese you purchased or sampled and your comments, and then you simply put it back in the box for the next time you come around. It’s so cool! If this shop all by itself wasn’t great enough, it gets bonus points by being in Ocean Grove. Go to the beach, have some cheese. Yay!

Cheese!!! How could you go wrong with a cheese shop! Cute little place with a nice selection of cheeses from around the world. Italian pecorinos, NY cheddars and Dutch gouda’s — definitely a place I will be back too!

Best cheese ever! I was never into trying new foods, until I walked into Cheese on Main. You can try all the free samples you want until you find that special one. My personal favorites include Applewood Smoked Cheddar and Garlic Cheddar. Yes, that’s right — GARLICCHEDDAR! Delightful! Try it out. You will not be disappointed. The prices are just right for the taste.

Cheese on Main is my standard for cheese shops. And let me tell you, it is a tough standard to meet. In fact, no place has matched it. The selection of cheeses is great, but what really makes this place the true gem that it is, is the amazing service. The friendly, knowledgeable staff is unparalleled. They will take the time to chat with you, offer you free tastes, and help you find the exact cheese you are looking for. Also, the bread is amazing, but you have to get there early before it sells out. Stop by Cheese on Main, and you’ll be hooked.

This was a really fun shop to spend 30 minutes in a couple days ago, and the two women working there were just lovely to talk to and enjoy cheese with. They definitely make with the samples, which is always a sign of a cheese shop that has confidence in it’s product and that understands the fundamental notion that the more you expand and educate your customers, the more often you’ll see them(and see them happy). Got a really nice cave aged Gruyère here, a German hard cheese whose name escapes me, and a 5-year agend Gouda which honestly tasted a lot better in the store than it did on the block later that night. This is a gem, and probably my favorite store in Ocean Grove for anything, hands down. They seem to have the standard Williams Sonoma-light selection of other dry goods and goodies and their prices are fair, if not slightly high. I’ll definitely be back for more samples, and lots more stuff to bring home.

Cheese on Main is a great place to really expand your palette and learn more about some of the world’s best appetizers/h’ors doeurves. Their selection is very large and the owners enjoy allowing their customers to sample so they can find something they really like. They also carry a lot of nice jams, jellies, chutnies and salsas to go with their specialty cheeses and crackers. Located in the historic downtown portion of Ocean Grove(heck, the whole town is historic), this shop is a nifty little foray into rustic rememberances. Cute.

My friends and i had an awesome chat with Susan(the proprietor of the place) about her selection of cheeses and other products. A lot over her stuff(unusually) comes from the Pyrenees region where she says a lot of flavorful cheeses come from — who knew? She also has a great selection of varieties of crackers and oodles of exotic salsas and sauces. You can even get a big piece of french bread, just be sure to get there early in the day or week because they go fast! Oh, and don’t worry about the cheese smell. You’ll learn to love it.
