Sack O’ Subs

EVERYONE SHOULD JUST CHILL AND BE REALISTIC HERE:
Ordered some takeout sandwiches due to the rain putting a damper on a beach day. Group ordered chicken cheese steaks, regular cheesesteaks, turkey (me), and fries.
SERVICE:
Very fast service– the subs (6) were done and ready in 25 minutes. Considering the amount of traffic in and out of the area, that’s fast. We didn’t sit in so I can’t speak to waitresses or cleanliness, but so be it.
FOOD:
I think people who are giving 2stars and under because «I have had better X at this place.» should probably go to X and not clog up Unilocal with their whining. If you wanted an authentic Philly steak– take your ass to the place. The place is called ‘Sack O Subs’ not World’s Best Philly Steak or Authentic Steaks Only. Get a grip. Rant over.
*turkey* — my turkey was exactly what I expected. Turkey slices with mayo and tomato and lettuce.
Roll was fresh. Didn’t expect to have my hair blown back– just to eat a sub and fill my stomach.
Mission accomplished.
*chicken steak* — roll was warm, different than cold sub, chicken and onions cooked well.
*steak sub* — roll was warm, not the traditional cheesesteak execution but still onions were properly caramelized and it was good. Once again– wasn’t the usual kind of steak but still good.
*fries* — very good, not too greasy, just the right amount of salt and if I’m not mistaken, fried in peanut oil.
I would recommend this place unless you’re a snobby ass sub aficionado.

This is a great sub restaurant and an amazing place to get huge slices of Pizza for an amazing deal! It wasn’t that busy but for a turkey sub and pizza, it took longer than most would expect it to take. It is so worth the wait to get their food though! If your in OC — you’ll have to check out this place!

My dining partner had been bugging me to try Sack O’Subs, so one evening while at the beach we ordered a pizza steak, a cheese steak, and an order of fries. Delivery was very fast, but I wasn’t impress with the food. I’ve had much better steak sandwiches elsewhere. The meat in my roll looked like Steak-​Ums, and there was barely any sauce. The roll wasn’t very good either, it was very pale and chewy. The whole thing just looked carelessly slapped together. I wouldn’t order from Sack O again.

We eat at Saccos Ocean City occasionally and it is always good. Service is always friendly and prompt. As far as the food goes they don’t skimp on quality or quantity and you won’t leave hungry. At lunch yesterday I had a capp salami and cheese and my daughter had a cheesesteak with a side of fries, with two drinks our bill was $ 25.00. Good bang for the buck. We will be back soon for sure.

Had an Italian sub for lunch, wasn’t exactly tasty, your typical deli sub, I had better «Italian» subs in the Bronx in a bodega made by a guy named Tarbaj.

Great cheesestake and I used to make them so I’m kinda picky! Got The big one and it fed three of us. Whit fried onions mushrooms & everything sweet it made me want to move back from San Diego! I’ll be here for a few more days and will be back to Sack O Subs a few more times

Got the Turkey sub with Provolone. This is the first place where I had a sub that didn’t wind up a big hot mess. Very tasty, I was only able to eat half at a time. Can’t wait to go back next year. We usually eat breakfast and dinner while on vacation. I just happened to be hungry one day. Got very lucky as they were right across the street from where I happened to be. I’ll make sure I am lunchtime hungry next year at least once during our vacation week. :-)

This place was very good. The subs, both hot and cold, werr made to order. We ordered a large french fries which was sufficient for the four people at oir table. I had a cup of new england clam chowder and found it to be very good. Our sandwiches were hot, fresh, and delicious. The place looked clean and the service was pretty good. Will definitely visit again and would definitely recommend!

I like the location on 55^th street better. Anyway, this is a great place to call ahead and pick up some sandwiches for your day on the water. We were taking an all-​day boat trip and wanted to pick up lunch so we wouldn’t have to leave our favorite spot. They got our order exactly right, labeled the sandwiches (which were neatly and tightly wrapped — important when they’re going in a cooler full of ice and beer), and they were neatly made (no falling apart). I got the regular (italian) which was delicious. They put just enough oil/​vinegar on it so that the roll wasn’t soggy but it still had enough flavor. The people I was with ordered turkey with honey mustard and one of them got spicy mustard, then the other one got honey mustard on the side. That was a little strange, but no big deal. Anyway, when we took the bag of sandwiches out of our cooler we were worried because the paper wrapping on the outside of the sandwiches was wet — but they were wrapped well enough so that the sandwiches didn’t get wet. They were delicious and fresh. FYI — we’ve ordered from Sack ‘o Pizza next door too and they’re also great.
Anyway, next time you’re on the hunt for a good sandwich, come here. DO NOT waste your time with Wawa.

Great lunch yesterday at Sack, Subs delicious, waitress great, price reasonable. Definitely will be back.

Nice surprise. Normal looking street restaurant that would make you assume «same old, same old». Hidden gem that we found, thanks to my fellow Unilocalers.
Despite that appearance, the food was fresh, hot, and tasty. Almost everyone ordered a «half sandwich» which sounds small and disappointing, so I was worried that we would leave hungry.
Wrong!
All of our portions were huge (2 of us couldn’t finish). The rolls for the subs were incredible– big, dense on the inside, and crispy on the outside. The burger was ¹⁄₃ lb. on a fresh brioche bun.
It’s a pretty good walk from the boards, but definitely worth it!

My number one sandwich spot. Cold hoagies are extremely good. They have a large menu and everything I’ve tried is very good.

been going here my entire life and these are hands down the best subs in the world. I’ll fight you if you talk bad about sac o’s. the regular is the way to go, but their tuna has always been my go-​to ever since I was little and it never disappoints.

Thanks to a rainy Saturday, my cousin and I found ourselves in need of a beach alternative. As we drove down Asbury toward some shops, we spotted the Monkey Bread place and decided we wanted to stop. But first: Official lunch.
Sack O’ Subs was conveniently situated across the street [and had a funny name], so I suggested we stop in. A staff member held the door open for us as we ran in from the monsoon-​like conditions. Super, super nice move!
We found a table, sat down, and quickly ordered our meals. My cousin chose the chicken nuggets and, despite the menu saying she’d get six of ‘em, in actuality she received a heaping portion with an equally large helping of fries.
I ordered the «half» chicken salad sub, which was certainly anything BUT a half — even though they assured me that it was, indeed, a half. I still refuse to believe that thing was a half! Nonetheless, it was great and the meat tasted fresh.
I’d definitely return to Sack O’ Subs in the future. Great service and lunch options!

Took my children here tonight for dinner hoping it would have improved since our last visit but it is even worse! This was our last visit! They are very expensive and the food is substandard. I had a cheesesteak with marinara and mushrooms. The meat was like rubber and hard to find since there was hardly any on the roll. Same thing for the cheese. It was more of a marinara and canned mushroom sandwich and it was tasteless and too tough to eat. Mine went in the trash. The kids didn’t like their food either. The hamburger was a repressed frozen patty cooked to death and half of that went in the trash too! You know it’s bad when a hungry teenage boy won’t eat it!

Best subs ever!!! I have been eating here for years and have always had a great meal. I challenge anyone to name a better sub. Uh… maybe the White House in AC.

Despite the backlash Sack O’ Subs may get it’s still on of my favorite restaurants when I visit Ocean City every year. Subs are appetizing and the fries are great. The shop itself is a little sloppy but it’s nothing that would detract from the experience. Definitely one of Ocean City’s better eateries in the downtown.

I ordered take out. One plain pizza, one side of mozzarella sticks, and french fries. The pizza wasn’t anything special, couldn’t care for it again. The mozzarella sticks tasted and looked exactly like the ones from Wawa. French fries were good but it’s got to be hard to mess those up. I suppose I should have sticked to subs since it’s in their company name but even when I order those they have minimum amount of meat. I’ve given the place a few different chances but I’m done ordering here from now.

Gold standard for hoagies. Cheese steaks not so much, but I’ll take a Sack o sub every day of the week while I Live in New Jersey.

Hands down best Italian Hoagie on the island. Granted, you have to get the Sacco Special to get it packed the way it should be…
I cannot attest to anything else on their menu, because the Sacco Special’s are the only reason we go there.
The story is something like the original owners used to work for The White House Sub Shop in Atlantic City, but then split off back in the day to open their own joint. Sacco Subs Special Italian Hoagies only come second to the original White House.
Remember, you gotta get the special, the one that’s extra packed!
