Perhaps the pure bar atmosphere is what has prompted the better reviews… For food, it’s more like a 1 star. On the positive, if you get one of the outdoor booths right by the boardwalk and it’s nice weather, it’s s great spot to relax. Roomy booths can hold 6 easily. The service, if not the most clear(hard time understanding both ways), was nice. The chicken quesadillas were ok, but not for the price of $ 12.95. The margarita was nice. The food is just simply not very good, especially given the prices. I don’t believe they use salt in the kitchen. A small cup of salsa is in charge, even if refilled. The guacamole was not very fresh. The menu is limited(which by itself is ok). Definitely read it before sitting down. They are cash only but have an ATM inside(broken when we were there). Given the smallish portions and mediocre food, our bill was still $ 150 including a good tip. Maybe the bar is good or breakfast? But think twice if you are truly coming for mexican food. As the guy at the next table said, «this was the worst Mexican food I ever had». He was Mexican. Still, we enjoyed our seat by the boardwalk with the Ocean breeze.(This is what earned the second star).

This place is a total dive and out of place on the OCMD boardwalk. It is not my thing, but it if is yours, more power to you– I rather go elsewhere on the strip.

Peppers! Claims to be «The Best Five-Star Dive Bar!» and they certainly hit the mark or came close on each of my 3 visits during our week here. Our 1st visit was for dinner — it was the closest place for Mexican to where we were saying. We sat outside and enjoyed the classic rock being played as we enjoyed pitchers of margaritas and Lagunitas beers, which according to have waitress they have two types — the something one and something or other one. take your pick I guess! lol We thought the food was ok — a little bland and under-seasoned, but it was a good thing for some in our group that do not like spicy food. They had some texas pete hot sauce on the table to spice things up and I personally thought the jerk shrimp tacos I had a good unique flavor. Good authentic fresh tortilla chips. Guac needed salt. Everyone else thought their tacos and burritos were a-ok. As we were dining we noticed the bar, which you need to descend into, was truly divey and a bit«mufty» inside — we knew we had to return. Which we did the next night to find them serving up $ 2 – 3 beers, a DJ that was absolutely killing it, and a trio of bartenders that reminded me of Blink-182. This place had a vibe and although we arrived relatively early(10pm) this place filled up as the night went on — a happening Tuesday hot spot for sure. We came back for drinks two nights later and it was more low key with full lights and patrons playing songs off the jukebox. It has the same laid back crowd, but it was certainly more subdued with only one bartender handling the crowd. This is absolutely one of the best places to grab a drink on the boards and if you hit the right night it will be a five star dive bar experience for sure!

The drinks were strong and the band playing was excellent. Best music I’ve found on the boardwalk at a bar.

Dive bars cannot earn more than two stars in my book. Otherwise they’re not dive bars. So this joint is perfect. Cheap beers. Great juke box(Cramps, Clash, Dead Boys, Iggy(no, not the blonde one. The ONLY one.) Cheap Natty Bohs and PBRs. Appropriate MD, wanna be hipster crowd. But better than any bar down here I’ve been to. Oh yeah, most of the food sucks. But wings with some scorching hit sauce are the tits.

Awesome little dive bar that has been around forever. Delicious tacos and wings and a great beer selection and delicious orange crushes! Staff is very friendly and laid back. The bar really sticks to it’s saying«The best Five-Star Dive Bar.»

This is our first stop when we bar hop along the boardwalk from the north end. Sometimes we’ll eat here. The fire sauce is no joke, it is insanely hot — so hot that I couldn’t eat my meal. I felt awful. That’s my fault for thinking I could handle it. I genuinely enjoy spicy anything, but this is arguably the hottest sauce I’ve ever had. Except for that one experience, all the food is above average. The drinks are solid and not too expensive for their location. Good crowd, atmosphere, and drink options.

Happened upon Peppers on a walk down the boardwalk. Never afraid to take a chance, unless personal safety is at risk, my son and I went in. The vibe was exactly as everyone describes; a safe feeling dive where there’s no local animosity toward the tourists. You really just fit in. Every town has a bar like this. The advice we got for apps and entrees from our server was right on, she also tried REALLY hard to find the West Virginia football game for us because SHE was from West Virginia. If I had to narrow it down to three positives, it would be the quality of the food, the quality of the fellow patrons and the disarmingly good prices for beers and drinks ONTHEBOARDWALK! Definitely going back next time in the other Ocean City.

They refer to Peppers as a five star dive. Well, it kinda is that. A dive. Nice place though, the bartenders were friendly and attentive and it feels like most any little roadside bar that isn’t at the boardwalk at OC. Stopped in for a nightcap after dinner. Mostly beer slinging here but I had a well made classically dry martini. I usually judge a bar on that. They passed.

I had been to this restaurant a few years ago and loved it. But not this time. The food was fair at best. The service was terrible. The order was incorrect. The only redeeming quality is the great boardwalk location. Never again.

I’m not normally enamored with bar food, but this is not your usual bar. The graffiti-laden walls and ceilings, stickers and flyers adorning the restroom stalls, and narrow booths hint of dive bar — but it looks too clean to be a dive bar — and the drink specials are nothing short of extraordinary. Various flavored crushes with vodka and mojitos are highlights on the drink menu. They also have a drink that comes in a goldfish bowl-sized glass. The food is Tex-Mex. My friends and I ordered the jumbo steamed shrimp, quesadillas, and tacos. The steamed shrimp was excellent. In all my years visiting Ocean City, I have never had jumbo steamed shrimp as large and as equally delicious as this. My jerk shrimp taco also had large shrimp in it(not as large as the jumbo steamed shrimp, but every bit as good) and large grilled pineapple chunks and came with a generous helping of rice and beans, all equally tasty. Good job, guys and girls!

Come in for a late lunch/early dinner last Friday afternoon. The wind was a little too much for us to sit outside so we opted for a table inside. It’s a bit of a dive but a good atmosphere. Lots of people at the bar enjoying happy hour, we sat in a booth. The server was nice, and took our order immediately. I had the jerk chicken salad which was great! We also ordered a beef burrito. They have crushes available. I had the Margarita crush, which is made with fresh lime juice instead of sour mix. I really liked it! I think sitting outside would be better for next time but it was just too cold!

I was with my young family for a teenage softball tournament, and for me OC, especially the boardwalk, was too much. When the wife and I had an opportunity to escape the kids, we looked for something that didn’t look to cater to the tourists, but carried its own vibe. We could not have been happier to find Peppers Tavern. In the words of Karen C., «a Five Star Dive Bar» with really good food, excellent beers, a DIY Blood Mary Bar, and good service. The atmosphere was exactly the sort of thing my wife and I were looking for, a dive that feels alive. Plus live music was starting when we unfortunately had to get back to the wee’uns. Although I don’t see myself back in Ocean City anytime soon, I would recommend this to anyone heading that way.

The tacos are large and I would recommend the jerk shrimp. Great spot right on the boardwalk and the food is pretty good. First time I have had a dales pale ale too which is a pretty good beer out of north Carolina.

Cool little dive bar, but the prices were a bit much compared to what I’m used to. The environment is definitely divey, but it was kind of nice. Didn’t have the food, so I can’t speak to that. It was unfortunate that one of the bartender and a patron got into a boarder line fist fight(started by the patron) only 20 minutes after getting there. The ceiling in the bar were oddly low, but they do have a nice outside patio on the boardwalk.

People should rate this place on what it is… a Five Star Dive bar. If you walk in and expect someone to pull out your chair and place your napkin in your lap you should probably turn and run the other way. The staff is friendly(especially if you sit inside at the bar) the food is nothing fancy but is good bar grub, and the drinks are vast and relatively cheap. We’ve had a blast every time we’ve been there because we love dive bars and Peppers definitely takes the cake. Way better than going to any of the OC tourist traps!

Well it’s definitely not the cutest place… looks like an old pool dive bar downstairs… but then they have a really cute family room with booths. The food was pretty average, I got the chicken salad with grilled pineapple, which was good, loved the pineapple. Our waiter was really fun and friendly, but the food took a pretty long time to get made. Also, would help if they served chips and dip like most Mexican places!
