Even on vacation if the lovely wife catches wind of a library book sale we’re there and last week the OCFPL had one on Friday and Saturday so naturally who was there a half hour before the start? The first thing about coming to this place is that it does not look like a library. It’s in a multi-purpose building that is a bit over a year old which also includes a museum, senior center, café and fitness center. Once you get into the library everything is immaculate and laid out very well. For the book sale we only focused on the children’s section and we left with some very good finds. Prices were a quarter per book along with some of the larger titles being a dollar or two at the most. The sale was well attended and we were glad to have skipped the adult section because the number of people in that area was insane. If you go, the library is open daily from 9 – 9 Monday-Friday, 9 – 5 Saturday and 1 – 5 on Sunday with Sunday hours expanding to 11 – 5 in season. That alone is amazing as library’s in my area are never open on Sunday and their hours the other six days are far less then what this place keeps. The calendar of events is also packed with all sorts of different events and features that go year round. Next time we’re down in OC the Free Library will definitely be on our list of places to stop.(The next book sale is August 23rd-24th.)
