Scoops of Fire Island

We are fans. It was a yummy treat before Taking the Fire Island Ferry back to the mainland. Plus there is a cute little pier were you can sit and eat while watching the sunset.

Scoops is really cute on the inside and looks really appealing from the outside as well especially on a hot summer day after the beach. We stopped in on our way to the ferry and I was a little disppointed in the ice cream. I got a cookes and cream milk shake and it was very milky and watery, not that good at all. They have a sister store which I might try next time!

Hershey’s brand flavor ice cream. The best part is that they are open late for fire island standards. It was open at 10:20pm on a Monday night.

My friends all went in the deafeningly loud bar next door, undoubtedly with the goal of disappointing as many ladies as they could find.
I went into Scoops.
Yes, it’s like $ 5 for a one scoop cone, but cookies and cream is delicious, and your other option is to take a ferry back to Long Island.

^That’s what the cat I’m catsitting has to say about that. I think he agrees Scoops was the better decision.

Scoops is cute since its local, but really its just Hershey’s ice cream which is fine if I’m serving myself at home, but I’m certainly not about to pay Fire Island prices for ice cream this generic. I’d pay the same price for a small as I would for a quart of this ice cream brand at the grocery store! At least the staff were friendly despite the crowd of people waiting to order. Cash only of course!

Scoops has Hershey’s Ice cream which is delicious! This is your basic ice cream shop. They have all the choices that you would expect in an ice cream shop. The staff is friendly and helpful, even though it was busy during our visit.
There are other ice cream shops here in Ocean Beach but we always come here.
