This place is kind of insane. It’s really only good for a big group of friends ready to day drink their livers away. The views here are everything. If you come for one thing(other than getting wasted), come for the views. Watching the sun set on the water while sitting at an outdoor bar is really quite nice. The place is huge. Like everything else on Fire Island, Flynn’s is pricey. Cover is $ 20. And CASHONLY, even at the bar. There’s an ATM but the fee is $ 4(ridiculous) so definitely come prepared. Drinks are expensive too, but it’s a cost that you pay for the experience. On the Sunday I was there(Labor Day weekend) people were lined up from like 11am to pay the cover and get stamped for the day to avoid the line later on in the afternoon. You’ll find all types of people here — girls in bikini tops and denim shorts with flip flops. But then you’ll also see skin tight dresses and heels. Something for everyone I suppose. I really cannot speak for the food because we did not sit down for a meal BUT they do have a grill in the front, selling hot dogs and hamburgers. The kind of bbq you’d see frat guys having at their house. Those were pretty good — exactly what you’d expect. I probably ate 5 hamburgers/hot dogs throughout the day. Nothing fancy, but got the job done and I was happy. Overall, we had a great day. Fire Island is lovely in general. Flynn’s is a fun time if you’re with a solid group and something to try out, even if it’s just once.

Took my wife to Flynn’s the Sunday of Labor Day weekend for dinner. Took the 6:10 ferry out of Bay Shore for an 8:00 reservation. Arrived on Fire Island and took a nice walk to the beach. Lots of partying going on including a very noisy Flynn’s. Got to Flynn’s and was seated by a bus boy. No noticeable hostess table visible. We sat in the back of the restaurant facing the marina where the atmosphere was a little calmer than the night club area. We faced the sunset which was a spectacular view!(1 star.) A waitress came over and asked us if we wanted something to drink. Turns out she was the«cocktail waitress.» She was also glossy eyed and visibly intoxicated. –3 stars. Had I come across a manager I would told him about this young lady. No manager available, –1 star. Now time for food. Our food waitress was very attentive +1 star. My wife had the New England Clam chowder and I had the lobster bisque to start. Since the soups were both fair to midland we decided not to go for the seafood and instead opted for what we thought would be «safe bar food» since that’s what this meal was turning into. We both ordered burgers, hers medium, mine well. As the waitress came with the burgers about 5 minutes later(I thought that was kinda quick) the«moos» we’re still coming from the plates. Too rare for our taste. Now discusted with the food the waitress came back to see how everything was, we decided against sending it back instead opting to catch the ferry that was leaving in 20 minutes. Paid the check and left. :( This was not the experience we expected nor are we going to return anytime soon.

We had a fantastic seafood dinner with a gorgeous Long island summer sunset backdrop. The manager Lou was very accommodating. What a relaxed evening. We did not take the special surf and turf buffet but it looked terrific. The area was lively walking back to the water taxi to take us back to The Pines. When we arrived, nothing really was open(in August) and it looked peaceful but desolate. It was a great excursion to another Fire Island community. It’s not always about The Pines.

The owner is a mobster wanna be, and the dock master is a liar. Dock master unplugged the electric from the boat next to mine(against my wishes), and then lied that I did it when the people from the boat returned the next night. The marina owner threatened me when I confronted the dock master to tell the truth. Will never return!

A 4 maybe by ocean bay park standards. Don’t compare this to partying in NYC or Miami. I came on a Saturday night and the DJ played good music(mixture of hip hop and house, a couple of reggae and Spanish songs). Not the type of place to pick up someone, Landsharks are $ 4.

Let’s try to keep this in perspective here. Flynn’s on Sunday is a great time if you’re with great people. I get that trying to push past people who are drunkenly flailing their limbs about(aka«dancing») can be annoying. I get that the music is loud. I get that it’s hot and the people here look like they can be Jersey turnpiking Snooki. However, if you focus on the cold Rocket fuels, the random burgers and hotdogs for sale to soak up the liquor, and the great people you’re around, Flynn’s is a fun time. $ 10 cover, $ 15 rocket fuels. Hip hop inside and live reggae band outside. 3 bars from what I counted. $ 8 beers are a travesty. Bathroom line for chicks is long, and the bathrooms are straight up vom-inducers. However, I ran into some great friends and still had a great time at Flynn’s. Overall, a solid 3. P. S. This place is NOT in Ocean Beach as the address states on Unilocal. It’s in Ocean Bay Park. Ferry stop is across the street from the Ocean Beach ferry.

I have never been treated so horribly at an establishment, let alone one that was quite literally empty on a Friday Because there was no DJ, we both popped into the DJ booth. 60 seconds later, a man came storming into the raised DJ booth and physically pushed first me and then my friend down the steps. Despite having just been thrown down the steps, we apologized profusely and assured him and the two bouncers that he had summoned that it would certainly not happen again. We didn’t even get a chance to speak as they grabbed our just purchased beers and and began screaming in our faces. There was no apology as these unreasonable men twice our size did not seem to be able to comprehend how unacceptable it was to physically put their hands on us instead of asking us to please relocate. It was at this time that we discovered that it was the OWNER of the restaurant who had pushed us unapologetically. There were a total of 8 patrons in the entire establishment — all with our group — and it was alarming that they were willing to kick us out of an empty bar in an entirely rude manner. Luckily, we were able to go to Schooner Inn instead, where there actually other people and had a great time, so this experience did not ruin the entire weekend. I would highly recommend Schooner Inn, but would certainly not recommend going to Flynns if you want to be treated in even a mildly respectable manner.

Ummmm… why do we have to wait when there are 9 available tables that are clean? We came here on Sunday assuming that the patron traffic would be less. The Wait: Like I stated above: We were hungry, there were 9 tables free and cleaned, why do we have to wait? The Crowd: This monumental restaurant on the Bay is casual and diverse. You will see everyone from the Jersey Shore Types(fist pump their faces off to Vodka-laced Coronas) to the nice groups of friends having a quick brunch before going back on their yachts. After dinner, a younger, rowdier, mainland crew heads to Flynn’s to bring on the night. The hard-core party crowd seems to flock here from all other towns and DJs liven up the dance floor on Friday and Saturday nights. The Food: We were disappointed with the clams. The ones that come from the supermarket frozen are better than these. Do not bother to order the platter. The calamary was ok. I mean how much can you mess up something fried. The burger was good actually and was the only saving grace for the food. The meat was juicy andd tender and cooked just the way we wanted it. The Service: The kid that served us was attentive. We thought he forgot about the check for awhile but he eventually came when we got antsy. The View: The view is lovely. The Bay was filled with sunshine and cute little boats. The breeze that comes in was great and the dinning area is sectioned off from the loud music of the outdoor bar. Conclusion: Come here to Drink not to Eat.

Bartenders were great, drinks were fairly priced and sized. The view CAN’T be beat. The buffet was really food(fries, crab cakes, candied hot dogs, garlic bread). Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. Raffle was fun as was music at happy hour. Much beter than Schooners.

I’ve been to Flynn’s three times, but was only actually served once. Once, we were turned away on a bright summer afternoon because of a private party. Another time, we entered during yet another private party which allowed the restaurant to serve rank and file customers, but the music(FM hits of the ‘90s) was turned up to earsplitting decibels, ensuring potential diners steer far clear. The one time we were actually served, the food was pedestrian beach bar fried fare, with little concern issued to the cuisine by seasonal employees. I can’t recommend this place on account of the food — or far worse, the terrible service.

Came here to stay a few days with kids in tow. Not the most kid friendly place nonetheless I had a connect for the Dockmaster so figured give it a shot. So went to sit down for dinner an while walking in almost got knocked over by a bunch of drunk girls but kind of expected. Ordered a few kids meals — can’t really screw that up. Lobster bisque was completely gross. They should be ashamed to serve it, I wouldn’t give it to a homeless person. And when I sent it back and told them it was awful they did not take it off the check. I didn’t really care much — but I happen to own a restaurant and if a complaint came back along with a full bowl of soup I would have certainly taken it off the bill. I then had a wedge salad. It was just as promised. Couldn’t really screw that up unless the product was bad. Truthfully it was fresh, crisp, and delicious. I devoured it. Overall it could have been worse. Lets see what tomorrow brings!

Hi, So this was my third time at Flynn’s. The first two times I went there i was a happy camper, enjoyed the music and had a grand old time. This last time I would say I was happy with the entertainment, music was very good and I enjoyed the crowd. My complaint lies solely on the staff. I attended Flynn’s between 4 – 8 pm on Saturday August 17th. 1. The MC announced a drink special. $ 5 dollar Malibu drinks. Ofcourse when i went to the bartenders, none of them had even heard about it. A random stranger standing next to me heard the special as well. a male bartender in the outside bar was very nasty to me saying that he had no idea what i was talking about and quickly walked away from me with a nasty look on his face. Really? I then went inside and asked a female bartender, she also had no idea but was a little nicer, but still was no help. Finally i went back outside to ask another male bartender(with glasses on) who did not know, but was willing to go and ask his boss even offered the other specials he knew of. He came back telling me that there was no such deal. I did not understand how an MC could announce a drink special that nobody on staff knew about. 2. Because i was the designated driver from the ferry i switched to water early on. I asked for this water at the inside bar and a female bartender hands me a cup that had been sitting out for a while because it felt like it was at room temperature with no ice. I know water is free and all, but common, i used to work at a restaurant. you dont serve water like that. You especially dont let a customer see you pick up a cup thats been sitting out. I assure you, it wasnt because she was busy. The inside bar was manageable. 3. While waiting on the bathroom line I felt my body being shoved by someone. Sure enough it turned out to be the same female bartender that tried to serve me the shitty water. «I say, excuse me no need to push» and her response was«I WORKHERE». Oh really? so being a bartender excuses you from common courtesy? UM, i dont think so. Keep in mind i was sober when this happened. I also would like to point out that i came with a crew of six people who spent a lot of money at your bar. Next time well be going elsewhere. To sum this up, i truly believe that the staff automatically thought i was drunk and that they could treat their customers like crap. That’s not something I stand for as I worked in a restaurant for three years of my life. Needless to say, i will not be going to Flynn’s again and will be telling all of my friends about this experience. Thanks

This review is for lunch only. I have yet to go to Flynn’s on a holiday weekend/weekend night with a cover, never had a cocktail here. Atmosphere is very laid back(do not be afraid to just walk in to the establishment — no one will be greeting you at the door) with beautiful views of the bay and dock. There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas — I would obviously recommend eating outside if you go here on a warm summer day and want to sit on white chairs/tables — very nautical theme. I even saw some wildlife — crabs swimming around and fish(…and seagulls) in the bay when I was waiting for my Island Salad. The inside of the restaurant has a fairly large dance floor and bar with additional(overflow) seating. Even though the Island Salad is pretty pricey — it is HUGE and extremely filling for a beach day — it’s a take on the Cobb Salad but has more fresh vegetables and extra cheese(see photo). The burger is typical bar-fare but the food does have a problem coming out cold… can’t imagine why when expediting should have been fast seeing as we were one of only three tables there. Customer service is ehhhh — the tables were not wiped down(i.e. dirrrrty, messy, food on top of tables that were left over from the night before) which is completely unacceptable and a total turnoff when you are trying to enjoy your meal. But — you get what you get on Fire Island with limited dining options — this place is definitely not the worse.

This place is not worth your time or money. Cover was 10 $ for girls and 20 $ for guys. The place was dirty. Very very long lines to the bathroom(they only have 3 stalls!) drinks were watery and the crowd… i don’t even know where to begin. If i had to make a list of the ‘trashiest’ places I ever been to… This would be in top 3!

This place is better suited for partying than a relaxing dining experience. We were seated and served a generous portion of bread but it was partly stale. My steamed mussels in garlic sauce wasn’t worth the price. They came out luke warm and rubbery. I was told the mussels would be served with toasted garlic bread but instead I received the same partially stale bread. At that point I was too wiped out from the LIRR ride, ferry ride and afternoon on the beach to complain. There was a large bar across from the seating area but the music was so blaringly loud that we could barely hear each other talk. The only redeeming factor was that the waitress was very nice and our table overlooked the water.

What more could you want? $ 15 drinks, a crowd of steroid filled, Jersey shore alcoholics and poor management! Let me tell you, it doesn’t get much better than this. Recently they held the annual«Miss Flynns» contest and they actually HIRED two of the winning contestants to compete in the first place. Talk about deceiving your customers. The managers here have no respect for their patrons or for their employees as is evident by their rude, loud remarks and terrible conflict resolution. If you would like to have a nice, relaxing time on Fire Island — avoid Flynns at all costs.

The food at Flynn’s literally put me in the hospital. It was the WORST dining experience I’d ever had, next to Felix’s in Manhattan. But although Felix’s was bad and inedible, and we got just as gypped there, at least I didn’t end up with horrific food poisoning and an ER bill. First off, we went there for my birthday last year, since their promotion for boat parking seemed like a great deal( ). Check out the site — you’ll see that it has a parking price and a notation saying«plus $ 50 dinner credit.» Sounds like a bargain right? It’s like parking for only $ 20 – 50 or so! Great! NOT! What they ACTUALLY mean is you pay the parking and you pay another $ 50 for the food voucher. Which makes it the opposite of a credit. It makes it the biggest scam and rip-off out there, and it’s a good thing we had the cash on us to pay it. It’s totally false advertising, and lack of clear communication, since a «credit» always implies that you receive something as a bonus; never in my life have I paid for a credit before. In fact, the guys that docked the boat and collected the payment even said that this was a common complaint, but there was nothing they could do about it since it was the manager’s rule. A little annoyed, we politely asked to speak to said manager. We were directed to the owner’s son, an arrogant young man who had his nose in the air the whole time. He said no one had ever complained about this policy before, and that we were holding food vouchers, so obviously, we were given a credit. We protested that we had paid for them, and he said it was part of the stay and dine package, and even if we chose to eat elsewhere, we were still responsible for paying for the voucher. In other words, you HAVE to eat there, or throw out $ 50. When we said that this wasn’t really fair, his exact words were, «If you’re not happy with our package, you can feel free to leave and I’ll refund you.» Determined to make it a nice night(since it was my birthday and he’d planned this mini getaway specially), we went for a nice walk around town and returned for dinner. We ordered, and the food was … okay. Not good, not bad, but mostly edible. Except for my steak. I’d ordered it medium rare-plus and it came out rare. I asked for it to be cooked for a bit longer. They obliged, but my seared steak came out crusted black. Now, I love a good char, and I even remarked to my husband, «Hey! They put a char on it! Nice!» … but it was not a char. It was something else entirely. And whatever that crusted layer was of, there was definitely bacteria in there because I got severe, literally bloody food poisoning six hours later as it worked its way into my intestines. It tasted weird at first – kind of sour – but I didn’t want to send it back again because my husband was already disappointed that he thought he’d let me down, and because I didn’t really trust the kitchen anymore and the server was also kind of a dick. So I choked most of it down because I was STARVING. But yeah, when my gastro doc told me I’d definitely had bacterial food poisoning and if I’d eaten anything that tasted weird in the 12 hours before, that tough, manky steak stuck out like a sore thumb. I wrote a sad letter to the owner about the whole situation and food poisoning(which cost me $ 200 in ER fees and $ 45 in gastro-doc copays and lab fees), who politely told me that he doubted it was his kitchen’s food, but kindly reimbursed me for the ER copay), so that was good. But I’ll never go here again. If you want to piss away money, throw it away in the wind and save yourself the poor treatment by his douchey son and the time and agony of food poisoning. I’d give this NO stars if I could. This place is the absolute WORST.

Good times. Too crowded on a holiday weekend. But tell me what place isn’t! Bouncers try to keep the crowds in order at the line but there is always a clown or two or three… Should have more bar tenders. Bring cash, no credit cards accepted. Rocket fuel is the drink everyone talks about. Some sort of Piña colada and rum I’m guessing. But way too much sugar for me. I went with a long island ice tea. One thing if your going to drink be ready for the long long long bathroom line. Good music. Fun for a group of friends to have a night out! Girls wear sandals/flip flops. You want to show off your legs sure… but at the end of the day have fun in comfort!
