Excellent flavors, marinated pork wonderful. Interesting selection of homemade salsa and dips accompanying the chips. Efficient service. Large portions.

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. A Mexican shrimp cocktail so huge we took half home and the two of us ate it for lunch the next day. The smells, peppers and then the service was exceptional. Try this one if you get to Ocala.

While good food is at it’s core, I am sure that much more can be offered at this local establishment. The sides have much to be desired, the burritos are quite nice, but off kilter, and the tacos were a little greasy. The take out process is quite a nightmare; as what is ordered is not necessarily what is given. It is the little things, the niceties, that will typically save a place like this. Unfortunately, this was not the experience that I know.

Excellent experience. Food was great, service was great — the overall atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Had three different tacos: steak, seasoned pork and fried pork. Each one was filling and tasted great! The flan is fantastic — and HUGE.

Second time stopping at this place. One of the best Mexican restaurant anywhere. Very reasonable price and tonight they had mariachi band. Great place, great food, and mariachi playing labamba. Simply awesome.

First time here and the food is very fresh with overly generous portions. I tried a vegetarian quesadilla for lunch. Very tasty. Husband had a combo platter with a chile relleno. It had a nice smokey flavor. Beans were creamy and not overloaded with too much cheese — which is what it seems a lot of restaurants do to make up for bland packaged food. We were offered a variety of sauces, both with the meal and with the chips. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and clean. So we’ll definitely be coming back to see if the food is consistently this delicious.

Ehhh… I’ve had so much better. Chili relleno sauce tastes like it came straight from a can. You can taste the metal. Mom’s tacos were disappointing, 2 tortias laid flat on top of each other with a pile of chopped steak on top of them. No fixings with the tacos… Bleh. First time I went I thought it was great. The next 2 times I didn’t think it was so great at all. Their menu is VERYBUSY and slightly confusing. They are not willing to make any substitutions. I’m not willing to go back. I’ll wait till I go to Orlando where I can get excellent authentic Mexican food. We waited a VERY long time for service and for our orders to arrive separately. Not so good. Note: I’m completely aware that chili relleno is actually Tex-Mex. Feliz Cinco de Mayo

*vegetarian friendly Paradise for the Latino diaspora traveling between the big bend and Miami. There’s two halves, a market and a restaurant. The market is medium sized with fresh produce, dank pan dulce, international cheeses, general goods and a deep candy selection that is similar to those found in west coast Mexican markets. The restaurant food was some of the best Mexican I’ve had in Florida! They worked with our vegan and vegetarian diets. The torta I ordered had flakey bread, avo, lettuce, tomato, crema, jalepenos, onions, and a thick piece of queso freco. With fries and only $ 6.49!

After my go to ethnic restaurant(Amir Indian) was not open on a Monday I let Unilocal guide me to La Hacienda and man was it amazing. I almost ordered the Mega Burrito which looked great and was on special but then I saw they had Menudo which is rarity on weekdays at most Mexican restaurant. The bowl of this spicy tripe soup was huge enough to share for two but I was feeling greedy and had it all. This restaurant is attached to a market which begs the question which came first the chicken or the egg but in this case you don’t care as the restaurant space is ample to hold a family gathering with all the tios and primos. I will have a tough choice the next time I drive through Ocala but I will be back. PS they also don’t mess around what they bring you the salsa and chips as they bring out three different salsas and they pack a bite.

We stopped in at about 6:30 on a Saturday night. As people have mentioned, it’s in a strip mall with a laundromat and a grocery. The place was packed, but we managed to get a seat. The chips and salsa(especially the spicy one) were really good. I had the wet burrito al pastor, which was fantastic. My wife enjoyed her shrimp tacos, too. The kids had chicken tacos, which they seemed to like. Our service was pretty bad, but it seemed like it was just our server from what I saw at other tables. At one point, our server disappeared with my credit card for what seemed like an eternity. Eventually, another server brought it back with an apologetic look on her face. The only reason I didn’t make a bigger deal of it is because my wife is a much nicer person than I am. :-) Not sure we’d go back, however.

Exceptional. Truly exceptional food, service, drinks, you name it. I ordered the papaya juice(fresh, light and in a more than ample size) and the chimichanga with steak(crispy outer shell, delicious cheese sauce on top, huge portion – so much so I had to take some home). All the food – including the complementary chips and salsa – is extremely fresh. They make their own tortillas, which they fry right there into some of the freshest chips I have ever had. If you like spicy, flavorful salsa, make sure to try the green cilantro one that comes with the chips; I’ve never had salsa like that – insanely good. Right off 75 going through Ocala – if you love Mexican food, and are driving through, don’t miss it!

This place is awesome. hands down. Décor: Very authentic to Mexico. Colorful and bright and fun. Staff: We had a great waitress but not only our waitress stopped by our table, we had two others check on us just in case! Very attentive. We even had a gentleman pop by who we believe was the manager or owner, well dressed and very nice making sure we were happy. The Appetizer: Yes the most important part right? Excellent! We started off with the homemade chips and 3 salsas/dips and ordered the guacamole thanks to our fellow Unilocalers. All had great flavor, one better than the other… we had to order more chips and finished the guac which most said was a lot… it was too good to waste. I’m not gonna tell you I know the names of them all but can tell you that they all tasted very fresh and homemade. Our dinner : I had ordered the 3 enchiladas(one chicken, one beef, one pork) and all were very good. Even the refried beans and rice were great. I honestly could’t say one bad thing… even the bathrooms were the cleanest I’ve been in!!! The store: Next door as if this place wasn’t great to begin with, there was a Mexican grocery store. Prices were very good. For example, we purchased FRESH chicken legs for .49 per lb! They were cutting them right there and packaging them in front of us! Tons of great hard to get items other than meats as well. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You won’t be sorry you did!

Got a nice recommendation from a CPA I was visiting and I consider it a very nice find. Loved the three salsas that came with chips, really one of the highlights of the meal. Need more, no problem simply ask or even point, and it will magically appear. My wet Burritto was much more than I could handle, and I quickly realized there was an art to eating it, slicing crossways to get a better combination of flavors. I wish I could give you more insight, but I was dining alone. On my next trip, I plan on exploring the menu a bit, so maybe I will give an update later.

I was driving from Tampa to Gainesville and had a craving for Mexican food. I saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to check it out. First of all, it doesn’t look like much, tucked into a strip mall and sharing space with a grocery. But the service is fast, the portions are HUGE, and the food is delicious. Nothing fancy here, but very good authentic Mexican food.

Still as good as my first visit in May 2013. Great food, salsas and service! Overall, closer to Mex-Mex than Tex-Mex, at least for the items I usually eat.

Well here I am again at LA Hacienda in Ocala. After last night’s terrible dinner at Harry’s Seafood here in Ocala, I needed a great lunch. Today is the Fajitas Special. Yum on a plate for $ 5.99. Plenty of meat, great Mexican rice and refried beans. An addition of guacamole to the salad makes it perfect. This is food that is authentic, made fresh, made to order. Like being at the owners home. And I didn’t see it but today they made fresh Chicken Mole. So though I missed it, they brought me a cup to taste. Wonderful! Definitely the best Mexican north of Mexico… And the service never takes a siesta.

They offer you a salsa trio to start with. Not bad at all. It tastes fresh and homemade. Off to a good start. They offer authentic tacos– I got chorizo, lengua and tripa. Yeah, I had to go authenic Mexican here. They also offer authentic sopes– these are great too. Just like grandma made them, not too doey, not to crispy. We also tried the Fried Mojarra(tilapia) — this is pretty good. Lotsof meat in the fish that still had fins and eyes. Just like in Mexico. We also tried the Wet Burrito. It was ok, your basic Tex Mex burrito. Overall I was suprised that this place offered so many choices and such authentic food for this side of the world.
