Cobbler’s Bench Shoe Repair and Keys

Dropped of a pair of Johnston & Murphy dress shoes last Sat to have soles and heels replaced. Was promised to have them ready by this morning. Just picked them up and they look GREAT! They even re-​dyed the areas that i had severely scuffed up and threw in a pair of laces too ! Very happy and would not hesitate to go back…

I sent my husband here to have the quarter inch pad replaced on the heel of a pair of shoes I wear to my office (Aerosoles, not designer) and was charged $ 25!!! That’s way above market price. Unfortunately, not knowing any better, my husband paid it. Needless to that they will not be getting our business again!

I have a shoe repair shop that I’m very happy with (Artins Shoe Repair on Main Street in Fairfax), but I came here because of the Groupon ($ 10 for $ 20 worth of repairs).
We got off on the wrong foot, because the website lists their open hours incorrectly. When I pulled in at 9:30AM on Saturday, I found they were still closed (not open until 10AM). I later found out they’re closed on Sundays, even though their website says otherwise. I’d recommend calling ahead to confirm their hours.
When I finally got in the door, I brought in a really simple job — just replacing the ¼ inch heels on my work shoes ($ 15 — a very fair price). They were very accommodating with timing — I dropped off at 1:30PM on Saturday, and they said my shoes would be ready the same day at 5:30PM. They close at 6PM on Saturday, but I was running a little late so I called them and they waited until 6:10PM so I could pick up my shoes. It was very nice of them!
The heels look great, but I do have to knock them one star because the inside of my shoes are now black with polish. I’m a little sad that the inner grey suede is now smudged with black, but it hasn’t stained my feet, so I guess it doesn’t matter too much…
Also, they repair handbags! I ended up not doing it since it was $ 25 per strap, and my entire handbag cost less than $ 100, but it’s helpful if you’re trying to replace a $ 1000 purse.
