I had an expired Groupon for Annie’s and figured I would use the cash value for a mani pedi. I told the nail tech I was using it before she even began so there would be no confusion and I simply asked for a mani pedi. As I expected the service seemed to be pretty basic. Not at the spa level. So I gave the tech my code and she took my phone to process it. She then returned and said I owed another $ 38.00. So, $ 65.00 for that service, I think I’m done. Annie argued extensively that I was obligated for the spa service. She even said that since I speak English I should have been able to read the rules. Well, I did. And I could have spent that credit on anything. This is simply a cautionary tale. Establish the price BEFORE you begin! Or else you can be fleeced.

Was really sold on Annie Salon and Spa because I went in for emergency silk wrap nail repair and Cici, the nail tech who happened to be there, was very nice and no pressure. She understood that I had a regular nail tech who is located some distance and not real convenient for a repair. She did an excellent job so I continued to go to her. I had a pedicure there too, and everything seemed normal. She told me that I needed to have all the old silk wrap removed and a complete redo. She was correct — there was separation on every nail that had been happening for some time, and I had the original a very long time. She quoted a reasonable price. After going to her several times I made an appointment by calling the salon and telling whoever answered the phone(Annie or another woman who works there) that this was for a complete redo of the silk wrap. I made the appointment 2 – 3 days ahead of time for 5:30 p.m. on a week day, and when I arrived Cici told me that she would have to do a fill that evening because a friend of hers was leaving and they were going out to dinner but she would do the complete redo next time. OK. About two weeks later I again made an appointment over the phone, this time for 10:00 a.m. on a Friday, as I had taken the day off to run errands etc for a very important occasion the next day. I again specified that I was making the appointment to redo the silk wraps. I walked into the salon on Friday morning and not seeing Cici said to Annie(who I am pretty sure made the appointment over the phone) that I had a 10:00 a.m. with Cici. She kind of fluttered around and said«oh yes, but Friday is Cici’s day off.» I told her that was not acceptable and that I would go to another nail salon(they’re certainly plentiful around there) and have never been back. If Friday is Cici’s day off, why had I had several Friday appointments with her? Is this a lack of communication between Owner and a contractor(I believe Cici is actually an independent nail tech)? Or did Cici just decide to take off that day knowing I had an appointment? Or take off without knowing I had made an appointment? I don’t know the answer, but it was weird. Cici seemed to come in only if she had an appointment or two, and would frequently arrive at the same time I did for a late afternoon appointment. I really do not know how Annie stays in business. I have seen 2 regular customers there during the time I went there — probably 8 or 9 months, and about 3 – 4 walk-ins, one of whom was extremely agitated when she left and may be one of negative reviews written in May or June. They also do computer repairs, and at this point, who knows what else. I really don’t see how they keep the doors open, but of course I don’t sit and spy on them! There may be a very large clientele that I never saw. Yes, Annie is very nice, and the salon seems to be kept clean, but what else is going on there? So now I go to Oakton Nails next to the chiropractor. Am I allowed to say that?

Do not go there. My japanese straightening lasted less than a week. She does not even seem to have experience in basic hair styling.

thank goodness I read the reivews prior to making a hair color appt at «Annie Salon and Spa» in Oakton. It sounds like the owner does not listen to the customer nor seems to know what he/she is doing… SCARY!

TERRIBLE. Do not go for hair coloring. Annie is the owner and the stylist at Annie Salon and Spa. I wanted to use Eco Colors hair color because it is more natural. Annie told me she uses Eco colors so that was the only reason I went to this salon. I’m Asian, of Chinese descent, with dark, dark brown hair. I had gray hair I wanted to cover, and asked Annie to do this keeping the color the same as my natural hair color. I wasn’t interested in changing my hair color. The first time Annie colored my hair, it came out a BROWNISHRED. I was horrified. Annie told me a lighter color was good for the summer. But that wasn’t what I asked for! Annie offered to re-color my hair saying she had to mix brown and black to get my natural hair color and now she knew the right combination to get my natural hair color. I naively believed her and let her re-color my hair. I was concerned that this might damage my hair, but I really didn’t want brownish red hair. The 2nd time she re-colored my hair, it came out GOTHBLACK. I was really upset. I spent the first day washing my hair multiple times at home with clarifying shampoo trying to wash the color out as much as possible. It’s pretty clear Annie does not know what she is doing. I will never go back to this place again.

update: I am losing a lot of hair :(I am so upset. Want to help my sisters out there. Do not get Japanese straightening from here(or maybe from anywhere) unless you are absolutely sure. Please pray for me that I don’t become bald. Started on hair and nail medication just in an attempt to prevent total hair loss. :( Took a picture of my hair loss on my cell phone but not sure how to post on Unilocal

I’ve come here for years and used an array of services — hair, nails, facials, and waxing — every service has always been excellent. Annie is warm and kind, the space is clean and comfortable, and the prices are fair and reasonable. Highly recommend!

For years I’ve been getting hair cuts at Annie’s salon, both from her old location in Vienna to her new location in Oakton. She had to leave her old place in Vienna because a certain bank took over the parking lot, and therefore neither her nor customers could park near the shop. But thank goodness she didn’t move far, just down a-ways on 123. Now, I’m very wary and picky about haircuts – but every single time she’s understood what type of hairstyle I wanted and cut it to exactly how I wanted it. Sometimes I just left it up to her because she knew what styles I liked, and I was always 100% satisfied with what I got! Not to mention, Annie is an absolute angel – she cares so much for her customers and makes sure they leave happy! She’s so friendly and kind, I always feel relaxed and happy throughout my haircut. This salon is professional and makes you feel welcome. I recommend everyone to come here because Annie always does an amazing job. Trust me, she knows what she’s doing and will always be willing to help you.

I will say it was relaxing with not a lot of noise or chatter. That was the only good part. Because the nail polish was so clumpy, my nails looked horrible with bubbles AND the nail technician didn’t think that looked bad??? I made a comment about an issue with just one nail and she claimed she couldn’t see what I was talking about. By the time I got home, my nails were ruined and I had to do it over again with my own polish. This is definitely not the place to go for a good quality mani/pedi. The sterilizer for all the tools was just odd. I’m not exactly sure how it works but it seems odd to mix mani/pedi tools with combs and hair clippers(just sayin). Hopefully, the quality will go up… but I’m not planning on going back to find out.
