Wing On Cheong-olde chinatown

Wing on Cheong wasn’t much to look at. this old styled chinese grocey had mostly chinese vegetables in wooden boxes on display inside the store.
in the olde days, chinese grocerys didn’t clog up half the sidewalk trying to push their wares. there was little foot traffic in the olde days.
early mornings, Wing On would get their deliveries of veggies. bok choy in big ass wooded crates (80ish pounds) would line the sidewalk along with other veggies. Wing’s main biz was wholesaling to the various chinese restaurants in oaktown and nearby cities.
me and mom would come here early on occasions to pick over the newly arrived veggies.
