Cute little nook inside a larger warehouse full of mini-galleries that appears to specialize in reds like syrah, sangiovese, and pinot noir. Service is fairly personal when it isn’t crowded, although things can get overwhelmed when its First Friday. Nevertheless, the wines are all fairly complex and delicious, and it’s one of many budding Oakland wineries worth checking out.

Wine is pretty good, but I came in on First Friday so I couldn’t try many different types. On First Fridays they have one white, one red, and a cider takeover. When we came, $ 8 pours were served in little plastic cups and didn’t come with much verbal or written explanation of what they’re offering; it seemed like the wine was kind of «just there» so people could have something to hold while talking to friends or looking at vendors. Definitely a «new Oakland» setting. Prices were reasonable. I might come back to see what it’s like on a regular evening, but I do prefer some of the cellars in Jack London.

Excellent place for happy hour. We had a lovely flight of wines and ended taking home several bottles. I loved the space, being an open warehouse shared with local artists. I will definitely be back again.

I totally enjoyed myself. First it was pretty difficult finding a place to do wine tasting on a Wednesday afternoon. Mike was extremely great and opened just for US. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The wine was amazing the prices weren’t that expensive.

I had a fantastic time tasting wines with Debora at Two Mile this afternoon. The space they share with local artists and designers is so much fun, too. Their list of wines presents a great array of flavors for the palate… Everyone there had a different favorite so go taste for yourself. Just listen to Debra cause she’ll treat you right.

Great staff and very good wines. One of those places we will keep coming back to sample the new releases and to taste old favorites. Different experience every time.

So I am a regular visitor to the wineries up in Dry Creek, Russian River, Paso Robles, and Sonoma, and the wines here can give any of those places a run for their money. The ’07 Sangiovese was FANTASTIC! But across the board, the wines were wonderful, and Adam(one of the owners) was a wonderful host. Added bonus? It is located in a super cool neighborhood — lots of little shops, galleries, and food. Want the wine experience but not interested in the drive? Head on over to Oakland, and grab some wine with your friends at Two Mile.

Simply superb. My wife and I won a wine tasting at Two Mile Wines at a school fundraising event. We had 7 of us there and the host Adam was very accommodating and convivial. They stayed open 2 hours beyond their normal closing time, introduced us to some stellar wines and let us bring our own cheese plate to pair with the wines. They are right in the vanguard of modern winemakers, buying their grapes from all over including flash frozen grapes from Washington State and from untendered vines, but the end results are excellent. Also love the name which derives from the Prohibition era.

I read about these guys in the East Bay Express… ventured to uptown to check it out. WOW… I mean, there are some amazing wines in the east bay, which is one of the things I love about my hood… but this was awesome. First, they are located in a cool little artist co-op. Sporting clothing, hats, and art. Second, the tastings are free, but you will probably end up leaving with at least one bottle. My favorite was the ’07 sangiovese, so yummy. But everything was good. From their yeast-y sparking wine to the syrah. Look forward to coming for a first friday and trying one of the wines on tap

I was in the Oakland Berkeley area for a conference and I didn’t have enough time to get to Napa. Being short of time I asked Siri to find me the closest winery to Lake Merrit and Two Mile was the answer. The venue is confusing, I wasn’t sure I was I the right place, but the tasting proved I was. I only tried the reds, not the whites. The 2007 Syrah was great, but the«table red» was frankly better, and half the price. I bought so much I had to have friend ship it to me. I highly recommend this to anyone in the area or visiting.

Great Saturday afternoon find. I found this spot in the collective of artists during the Saturday Art Murmur. Great wine, great host. I will be back. It is a small, quality collection of wine that you can try before you buy one of the most reasonable glasses of wine in the Bay Area.

I tasted some of their wine, not yet in bottles, at the East Bay Vintners fair at Jack London Square – it was some of the best at the fair. A word to the wise, their web site says, as of 2 Jan: «Our tasting room at 2816 San Pablo is now CLOSED.»

As we were biking from Albany to anywhere else, we passed by a sign that read«Wine Tastings» … I yelled ahead to «Pull over … WINE!!» And so began a perfectly unproductive day disguised as getting some exercise. Bill was pouring and he was delightfully friendly and informative. He not only taught me about wine making … but also about pig roasting. They only make 1 white(a viognier) which really wasn’t my thing … and a number of reds which were all pretty good. My favorite(and the bottle I took home and made everything else pale in comparison) was the sangiovese. I will appreciate that bottle a lot when I open it because I had to carry it on my back for the rest of my biking day.

We hit Two Mile Wines early into the day on our EB Passport event. The building is pretty cool and they have a very laid back attitude about them so I walked in feeling comfortable even though there were about 40 other people swarming around. First on the list was the 2008 Viognier. I dumped it. It was heavy and spicy and served warm. That did not sit well with me. Next came the 2006 Dry Creek Syrah. It was one of the earth-acid Syrah wines so I dumped it. Not doing so good here. What saved them was door number 3 — The 2006 Jacob’s Landing. It’s a mixture of cabernet and merlot grapes. This is one of those wines which you can serve at a dinner party — it goes with everything you want to serve and it should please almost all palettes. The last wine was a 2006 Petite Sirah. Low tannin but still a bit of a bite. Deep dark color and rich flavor. Two Mile, you managed to wow me at the end.

Hey – drink some locally made wine(plus, many of the wines are organic or biodynamic). We liked the Cab-Merlot blend: Jacob’s Landing. They also make a fine Syrah, Petite Syrah, and Sangiovese. Stop by on a Saturday afternoon(2 – 5) to taste the wines for free. Then, indulge yourself in a bottle. The folks were friendly, kind, and bursting with flavor(I mean pertinent information).

A great way to pass time on Saturday afternoon-wine tasting in Berkeley! This space used to be a screw factory, of all things, and is now home to Two Mile Vineyard, a new to this space addition to the ‘Urban Wine Scene’. So, they buy their grapes from wherever the hell they want to, from vineyards in places like Livermoore, Dry Creek, and the ‘Central Coast’ and make the wine here in the city. It’s a very unpretentious group of folks and I had a great time chatting with some of the co-owners and investors. I met a cool PhD student, a guy taking his wine course homework VERY seriously, and a mother of a 6 month old who gave me some tips on ergo-baby carries. That’s the kind of wine tasting I’m into. Oh wait– the WINE! I left with one of the last bottles of their 2007 Viognier, which was aged in stainless steel– I love it. So crisp and yummy. I enjoyed both their Syrah and Petite Syrah, but I’m sort of a wuss when it comes to the more bold and full flavored Jacob’s Landing– It would probably be great with food– Mmmm, like steak. Two Mile wine club anyone? Sign me up! When you go ask about the origin of the name Two Mile Wines. Very Interesting.

I also tasted these wines at the Urban Wine Trail passport event. They were pouring inside Irish Monkey when I tasted them. What a great event! I have to say that my taste buds were a bit fried by the time I got to their wine so I can’t really speak to the quality but as Fred Z. said, they were so nice and down to earth.
