Despite the great conveniences of living in the area, such as access to downtown, Bart just a few blocks away. The maintenance on this building isn’t great. We endured 2 years of construction which fixed closed to nothing. A new coat of paint would have had the same effect.
we actually flagged the contractor as we caught him not building to code. they didn’t even finish what they were contracted to do. the courtyard floor is still not fixed, bubbling up and cracked. the planters are sad and empty. copper piping used for irrigation got replaced by plastic taps. there is still broken planters and they overflow green water onto the court yard.
the pool cover doesnt open all the way and doesn’t meet code as it doesn’t allow to safely walk around the pool. it is a tripping hazard and ugly. all the floors need to be refinished. it has been years now and nothing has happened. The ground floor has large cracks on the floor which can only mean foundation problems that weren’t even addressed during the refurbishment.
then there is the sound of shootings. since i’ve lived here i’ve heard many gun shots. last summer there was a prolong shooting that lasted close to 40 minutes. i called the police but heard no sirens or police activity. oakland police just doesn’t respond i guess. i knew there were many shootings in oakland, i’ve lived here for over 15 years. i just never heard them before and they happen so often. it is quite sobering and disturbing. the first time it happened i tried to lie to my son, but you can’t keep that up.

Its been over 7 years since my mom and I moved in here and love it! there is a pool, work out room, entertainment room, and more. If was ruff moving in here first. Security was strict and though I was old enough to use the work out room, they would always kick me out. But now with a different security management who are supper nice, unlike the old one.
The condos are a bit pricey but its so convenient!
