Ive been going here for years and it has become over-staffed with unessarily uptight hyper controlling people who charge a rediculous cover to boss you around about where you can sit or stand and make big deals out of nothing because they have nothing to do. Unwelcoming environment with newly raised price, not a fun place for a show.

Bars like this are the reason I love Oakland. Super divey and very supportive of local artists. The bartenders try to satisfy every dumb request for a fancy cocktail – with limited ingredients(jeez, dude, don’t order an Old Fashioned here!). You’re best left to beer and rum and cokes but that’s all part of the charm.

Touring bands beware — If you’re a local who doesn’t mind a cash only dive bar that people bring their dogs to, this is an okay place. If you’re a touring band with a limited following in the area YOUWILLNOTGETPAID! Granted the whole point of touring is to make new fans but despite putting on a good show complete with our own lights and getting a fairly apathetic crowd to at least appreciate us(who were there for the folk-style concert booked after our metal show), they refused to even give us gas money. Local patrons are generally nice but the owner, not so much. There are tons of places to play in Oakland so if you’re a touring band, skip this place.

Walked into this bar on a whim. Somehow a friend of mine mistook this bar for double standard. How that happened exactly, I don’t know. They feature live music on a regular basis. A metal band was rocking out on the stage and they were not half bad. The barbies and photos of John Wayne around the bar give this place a special touch. Blunt wraps available on the counter as well as banquet pot pies and pickled wieners(among other snacks). What’s going on here?! Pretty odd bar snacks but this place is divey as hell and I’m not surprised. Keep it simple. Order a beer and a shot of your favorite whisky. This place is unique.

First and last time here. I ordered Jameson and ginger ale: for one or didn’t taste like Jameson and I drink Jameson every time I go out, which isn’t to often but often enough to know my whiskey. Second drinks were overpriced at $ 10 a drink as if I was in Vegas which I’m no way gives off that feel. Very divey feel with over priced drinks.

The owners or whoever the people are that work the door and walk around checking for people’s stamps are really weird and don’t know how to run a place like this. It could be really cool under different management. The sound also is terrible for live shows.

Soo, this place is kind of a sh*t hole and always will be, but that has been part of its charm. Ive enjoyed the evenings Ive spent here. Its a 2-star bar with the loss of one because of the below: I recently made an inquiry regarding booking and if they have DJs. The initial response was cordial and professional. The 2nd was at 3am and not. You’re rude, dude and then jabbed another neighborhood bar for no reason. What a jerk…

Played a show here. There are some really cool features to this fair size dive bar. Barbie dolls line the back of he bar and the game room has some cool arcade games and a pool table. There is Nintendo set up but not sure if it worked. The sound is loud and just kinda ok, definitely too big for the room. The sound guy showed up really late and the show started an hour late. No one knew what was going on. There’s a whole ticket system to get a pbr and the bar was rude when trying to figure that all out. The bar guy was generally pretty rude to everyone in the bar. One plus was as the band you get a recording of your set.

Dive bar at its finest. My husband is in a band(**COUGH** DRUID **COUGH**) so he always has a show at this venue like 2 to 3 times a year. Graffiti everywhere. Inside the bar, in the bathrooms, in the arcade room, even outside. The mural they have outside is pretty dope. I like looking at it whenever I come here. The bathroom is surprisingly not as dirty as I thought it would be. I mean, besides the graffiti everywhere, the toilets weren’t shitstained and they actually had soap to wash your hands with! Most dive bars don’t even have soap, so that was a plus for me. I don’t frequent the bar whenever I am here only because my husband is usually the one drinking with his bandmates so I’m the designated driver for him. But my husband and his friends always love coming here, so I can’t really complain. Also, there was a dog that was roaming around the place. Idk if it was the owner’s dog, but he was so well-trained! He looks like he’d be mean, but he is such a little sweetheart :)

Horrible drinks, watered down well drinks in premium bottles. I forgot to add over priced drinks as well. $ 13 for a beer.

Played a show here a while back. The vibe was great, the sound guy was good, the crowd was great, we had lots of fun!

The Stork club is divey, grungy and a little bit sticky in places, but has all the flair and charm Oakland. The drinks are strong, the music is loud and the outside areas are great for hanging out. If you’re looking for a fun, little dirty Friday night, The Stork Club is the place to go!

The Stork Club is the WORST establishment in Oakland… actually it’s the worst I’ve been to period — and I’ve been to 9 countries. My brother’s band performed here, in which I was helping out, and we had a horrible experience. –The manager, Dale, greeted us with yelling and gave us horrible attitude the whole night. –Forced my brother to wait outside for hours until it was his turn to perform. –Kept checking our hand«stamps» even though there was barely anyone at the bar. –Since they kicked my brother out, they wouldn’t even let him watch over his own equipment the other bands were using. Here we are, young people of color trying to do something positive, following our dreams, and we get treated with utter disrespect. DONOTSUPPORTTHISPLACE.

so much potential untapped. the place is big, has several TVs, even a Nintendo 64 where you can challenge your best friends to a shouting match in Mario kart. the patio is big and could be inviting but a nasty old booth makes me turn back around. the weird collection of retro Barbie dolls and interior that’s crying out for a desperate renovation kills the vibe. everything feels outdated and there were bottles/glasses everywhere despite the entire bar only having 20 customers. and by the way, the panties(I hope for everyone’s safety and my own are not used) stapled to the speakers is not exactly appealing. all i could think when I walked in is that this place should be on bar rescue.

This is a very INTERESTING place, which is how I would best describe this place. I’ve been here with the group. We came on a Friday evening for the Burlesque creepy puppet show. The place was packed!!! It was warm in there, and it also smelled bad to. The Show??? INTERESTING…to say the least. The ladies coming by you performing, wearing very little clothing. One one of the acts was based upon the book Fifty Shades of Grey, the puppet show was bizzare, it was like puppets having sex, no joke. I just don’t think I’m going to go back here, this place isn’t bad, it just isn’t my cup of tea, if you know what I mean, don’t say I didn’t warn you if it smells bad in there. The show was on a Friday night when they have art work and stuff on display outside.

Great vibe. Amazing jukebox. Drinks are dive bar perfect. The bartender is as friendly as the one from The Shining. My new living room.

Interesting dive bar in the heart of Oakland. The walls are covered in Barbie dolls still in the package, a couple of TV’s have old video games hooked up to em to play, add a pool table and a few video games in the back room and its pretty cool. Drinks are kinda expensive for a dive bar, and the bartenders are not great at mixed drinks. Still it’s a great place to see a show and tip a few brews, I’ll be back!

The Stork Club in Manhattan was where celebs went to chill. The Stork Club in Oakland is where you can go and gossip about celebs with the bartender. Alison helped us out and she was really cool. Made one of the best Manhattans i’ve ever had. So it’s almost like we had that classic NY experience. Good beer selex too. There’s some sweet couches to sprawl out on to watch shows. It’s a cool place to hang. Come!

We don’t get over to Oakland much but glad we BART’d over last night to Stork Club, as we’ve pretty much eradicated this type of dive bar in San Francisco. Sadly. Looking forward to a return visit — mellow staff, cheap drinks, great music, other fun things on this 2 block stretch of Telegraph to check out, like the Kingston 11 Jamaican Restaurant, the Telegraph Beer Garden and some other places I can’t remember names of. 5 Stars!

I came here last night for the poetry readings(by various authors) and open mic night. I actually really enjoyed all the talented poets, who managed to keep my attention throughout. The host was great as well. I noticed it drew a pretty friendly and intelligent crowd and there was a good energy in the place. As for the place itself, it has a standard dive bar feel. There was back room with a pool table and some arcade games and also an outdoor patio. Afterwards there were a few cool hard rock/metal bands playing for the rest of the night. Only $ 4 for some solid draft beer, too.
