The BBQ sauce was good but the ribs was fatty. The potato salad had potato peelings still in it. Baka beans was good.

I went to this dump Last Friday and when I entered the place was cramped and dirty… I still wanted to at least give these folks a chance …
The lady b4 me opened her container and asked for another piece of bread b/​c they put hers on top of the potato salad and made it soggy, so some dude came from the back with a piece of unwrapped bread in his hand and handed it to the customer … hmmm (u can decide on that one. lol)
I asked the lady at the window if they sold small portions, like a sandwich and she said no, they only had one size but it was a «healthy» serving… I ordered the ribs .uhh $ 14.I thought to myself,” Imma have sum grub for the next day, cool” …
I told her I was in a bit of a hurry and asked how long would it take. She said «Not too long, everthing is ready» …I glanced in the back and saw this huge, huge, slow, slothful 400+ pound dude carrying my meat from the oven with some tongs — he had the nerve to stop and have a conversation with this other dude while he held my meat!. .I told the lady again I was in a hurry so she turned around, told the huge dude what I said and he responded, «can she wait 22 more seconds?» …and he kept on talkin’ …
So about 10 minutes later I get my food and sat in my car to eat it… OMG, there were 4 fatty burnt, old tastin’ pieces of rib with burnt, literally burnt bbq sauce on them. I was disgusted! It stank up my whole car. The beans were canned and runny and the potato salad was sweet and nasty! $ 14 dollars, you got to be kiddin’!!
I coulda asked for a refund, but I Know how ghetto folks act when you try to return their nasty, OLD food, so I took it as a loss! Oh, one more thing they didn’t even have a cash register, they were getting change from a Styrofoam container… GHETTO & TACKY!!! … I WILL NEVER GO BACK and NIETHER SHOULD YOU!

We found this new BBQ joint on a visit to a friend’s Saturday party in Oaktown’s Frick neighborhood. I’m always looking for great BBQ and today, I found it. What a great find! Grabbed a slab of pork ribs for $ 27. Was stoked when it came with potato salad, baked beans and bread. All eight people who tried the ribs agreed… BANGIN’! The sides were tasty, as well. We’ll be back for some brisket and a few more ribs!

I went to Rue Rue’s yesterday for the first time. I always see the sign driving to and from Coliseum BART. I ordered chicken, ribs and links and they were all delicious (my only complaint is that everything is drenched in sauce). I had a nice conversation with the owner (very tall… looks like he could’ve played in the NBA) while I waited for the food. I’ll be going back next time I’m in the mood to take out some bbq.

My coworker brings a plate from here every Saturday. It’s the bomb diggity! I get the ribs, links, potato salad… My mouth is watering just thinking about the goodness. The portions are huge and fills up me up half the way. Always a blast from every plate I receive!

I’ve been seeing small signs for this place while driving to/​from the A’s games at the Coliseum, and decided last night to give it a try. It’s take-​out only — four chairs, no table in a very small storefront just south of Seminary on MacArthur … but WHAT A GREAT FIND! THIS IS THE BBQ I’VE BEEN CRAVING!
I had a two way combination: brisket and ribs. The brisket was smoked for 14 hours, per Rue, and the smoky goodness was proven on the first bite. Rib meat was fall off the bone tender. Very large portion size too — and that equals value in my book.
We also got the chicken dinner — 5 pieces, perfectly cooked. Both dinners came with beans and potato salad as sides — with wheat bread, natch, but the sides aren’t the story here — it’s the bbq meats! Get the sauce on the side so you can fully explore the fantastic smoke-​in of the meat — then dunk away and enjoy.
It was our first time in, but both the owner and his assistant were friendly and sociable. It feelt good to support them for the great ‘que that they do! SUPPORT REAL BBQ!
PS Went back — it was just as good on the 2^nd and 3^rd visits!!!

The meat was good, the sauce is great, and it is a really good deal. We will definitely be going back in the future.

Really great taste and for a reasonable price. Their motto is, «if it’s not falling off the bone, leave it alone.» I can get down with that. There are a ton of BBQ places in Oakland, but none have staying power. I think this place will be around for a while because they aren’t doing too much. By focusing on a small menu, they are able to ensure the few things they offer are of high quality.

I was very impressed with Rue and his BBQ I had the chicken, links (homemade and spicy yum!), and ribs. Everything was cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious. He does add his bbq sauce to the meat but I think it tastes amazing.

Average, and a bit over done. Potatoe salad needs help. Mix the bbq sauce with your beans.

Always smelling the smoke from bbq, finally made my way there. The meat was really good, however was drenched in bbq sauce. So a little disappointed. Serve the sauce to the side. Would like to have flavor of meat instead of sweet sauce. Sides could use a little sprucing up. Nice portions. Would go back, side of sauce. No drenching the perfect meat.

The best ribs! Lots of meat and the sauce is very good. The links are good also. Havnt tried the chicken yet, being that I’m not a fan of bbq chicken too much.
