Donuts were big and freshly made, service was quick, prices were fine. Nothing fancy; the same sort of donuts you’d find anywhere, which I like. Best part: great big buttermilk bar was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Ideal. But: chocolate icing had hardly any chocolate flavor, and – yuck! – the oil the donuts were fried in was a bit rancid, giving everything a sourish off taste and odor. Couldn’t finish what we’d bought, ended up throwing a lot away. Might try them again, but no hurry.

So surprised at the negative comments. This place has fresh, really delicious donuts. Period. It isn’t a fancy place and I like that. It’s got one job. It makes damn good, fresh donuts and it does it well. You want fancy coffee, go to some fancy place. Everyone is nice there and if you have a dog they can come to the window and serve you if they aren’t too busy. And so what if they don’t want to give free donuts to some Oakland clean up thing. They are a private business and that is their right. Maybe they had their reasons.

The BEST donut holes EVER. I have tried a lot of Bay Area donuts, particularly in Oakland and San Leandro. This rating of 5 stars is specifically for the donut holes… They are amazing. And the staff are kind.

I have to give this place a negative 5 stars. I call quality donuts yesterday to encourage them to volunteer or donate to a local Earth Day participants this Saturday when I spoke with the lady on the phone with her she told me she was the owner and when I told her about Earth Day clean Oakland she said I’m not the owner call back at 2:30 and ask for Sally. so I call back at 2:30 no answer I kept calling when I got off work at 5 it was closed and I left the Earth Day flyer in their gate no one got back to me so today Friday April 17th I walked in at 1045 and spoke with the lady behind the counter and said how are you may I speak to the owner she said who are you I said I believe I spoke with you yesterday I remember your voice and she said oh yes that’s was me. I told her I’m here to talk to you about Earth Day we will be cleaning all of Oakland and since you’re in our district we were wondering if you would like to donate any donuts for the participants. were asking all small businesses since we’ll be cleaning around your area as well. she said I’m not the owner his name is Hong. I said yesterday when I spoke with you on the phone you told me the owner name was Sally so are you both the owner’s I told her it’s not mandatory to donate I was just asking but you don’t have to lie about who runs this place and have me going in circles you want the community to support you and your small business but you’re not willing to support the community and I do understand some places just can’t do it because they are small but just say that. Just say you can’t do it. There a big difference between can’t do it and won’t do it. then she proceeded to tell me oh I don’t speak English that well. I was in shock when she said that. Always when its so convenient someone would say I don’t speak English that well when I clearly had a conversation with you on the phone yesterday and also not just this past 10 minutes. At that time a customer walks in and she change her tune. Not only do she say she remember getting the flyer that I left in her door yesterday after she already told me she didn’t but now saying she did and will look at it. She just doesn’t want me to talk about it in front of a customer like she care about Oakland people. I politely took my flyer with me and walked out the shop now she have one from yesterday that she can post but I will never in a million years go to that donut shop for anything and I hope that Oakland stand up and ask, your local business when is the last time you did something for your community. It really makes me upset when business say we need to keep it in the community(the community needs to come together) but they not willing to do their part, not even put a flyer in the window. Always want want want but there’s a time that you have to give as well become a volunteer. It takes a community to raise a community the police cannot do it on their own stop talking about it and do something about it. I know most people who do go to this donut shop only goes there because it’s very convenient right off the freeway in right by their house but we can’t entertain convenience you have to go an extra mile are across the street down the road whatever it takes to support a business that supports you and your community not a business that just take take take your money it would never give.

Very nice, friendly service. Really good doughnuts. We bought them at 8:30am. We agreed that they were fresh. My favorite is the old fashioned and I thought they were the perfect crispy/soft combo. Maple bar for my husband, nice and soft. No complaints from my two year old who got the doughnut with sprinkles. Can’t beat the prices either! We will be back for Sunday morning doughnuts.

I live in the neighborhood also and always walk up the hill for a doughnut and cup of coffee. The two ladies behind the counter always greet me with a smile and are really friendly. I enjoy their doughnuts and have taken them into work and coworkers have also really enjoyed, and asked where I got them. I’ve had the Safeway doughnuts that someone compared these too and they don’t. They’re much fresher and tastier than the ones I’ve had at Safeway.

In a neighborhood devoid of dining options, anywhere I can walk to for a snack gets an automatic leg up. Quality Doughnuts is as advertised. The donuts are quality. I wouldn’t say their the best I’ve had, and I wouldn’t go out of my way for them if I didn’t live in the area. But they’re decent enough to eat, the coffee is hot and they don’t gauge on the price. Bottom line, I wouldn’t drive across town for these but if you’re in the area and feel like a donut it’s good enough to stop at.

The doughnuts taste like the ones from Safeway, you know, the ones that have been sitting out ALLNIGHT that you only buy because it’s midnight, you’re starving and they’re 50 cents. I really wanted to like this place, I could walk here from my house in the morning and have morning coffee and donuts but alas it twas not meant to be… I’m gonna give it a another shot and try the«nasty Costco coffee» and an apple fritter

I will echo Christy B.‘s sentiment. This is my hood’s doughnut shop. It’s right before the crook in the road off the 580 Edwards Ave exit. If you are going to/from the airport or to Bart/the coliseum from that exit and need to make a quick stop, it has a small parking lot and you can be in & out in a few — but please be careful driving away; traffic can be nasty as people are coming off the freeway and up the hill on that blind curve. But the shop itself is decent. A variety of drinks, sodas, juice, etc. Okay, I can’t vouch for the coffee… yet, but will check back in when I do. The donuts are good. Real. And the variety will depend on when you visit but they are ALWAYS fresh, even when you are taking their last two old fashion unglazed and were craving a filled chocolate bar or jelly and walked a hilly block to get there right at closing time. And they are friendly, if not completely fluent in english. And oh so accomodating. Once I meandered in and wasn’t sure what I wanted and the lady offered to fill a bar with whipped cream or custard. The custard was awesome. I have to resist going there as often as I’d like, since it’s TOO convenient, but it’s nice to have it in my neighborhood. :)

Well, I live in this neighborhood, and I don’t find it all that scary. But if you’re one of those folks scared of everything that has to do with your perception of «Oakland,» then indeed you should find someplace else to go. The donuts, maple bars, apple fritters, and just about everything here are really, really good. The coffee is typical donut-shop stuff, better than Dunkin’ Donuts, in my opinion, but not outstanding. The staff is really friendly, and they’ve always made a special point of thanking me for my purchase and making it clear that they appreciate my business. Which, of course, is a lot more than you can say about a lot of small businesses in East Oakland, including that dreaded Lee’s chain.

Ewww. Coffee was nasty. I came here when I had to jump on 580, and my beloved Lee’s is down the hill to far me. I seen, Pulled in. Coffe was Nasty, like warm lucid tar in a cup. Which costed me 2 bucks with no cup sleave.(YOUBASTARDS) I peeked behind the counter. Costco Coffee. Are you fuckin serious? Gee with the money I’m spending here I should be able to afford a Costco Membership Now I searched for my doughnut. No chocolate glaze Why??? I didnt ask for the butterscotch NOSPRINKLES No Dried Coconut NOPEANUTS. .So i settled for the blueberry dounut which looked like he begged for a home. These Doughnuts Need To Be Adopted. The people here are really just whatever about customers. It was a thick smell of oil and old coffee that filled my lungs of sadness and reeked my mind of never wanting to come here ever again. Please. Stay AWAY. Go to Lee’s Doughnuts in eastmont mall. a lil ghetto but coffee is always fresh and so worth the extra 6 minutes

Nice little donut shop right in the ‘hood. It’s open early, and closes fairly early(ok, not really that early, I’m just a late night person!), so I don’t get here too often. But it’s just blocks off the Edwards Ave exit(off the 580), so it’s close by, and if I’m coming home before they close, I like to stop in. The place is easy to miss, as it’s right on a strange corner that the traffic seems to always be going too fast around. And, the little shop is an unobtrusive brick square with iron security door, and roll down security gate at night. Looks forboding, but really, it’s a nice little shop. It’s not like a Krispy Kreme, these donuts are like the ones I used to get growing up in Nebraska at a local daylight shop there. These donuts have some substance, I’m sure they must use a different kind of flour than KK. The plain glazed, or donut holes, or raised with cinnamon are my favorites. But they have a large selection of all the donut shop regulars. They also have milk and regular coffee here, which is also the way I learned to eat donuts.(as well as a fridge with lots of other bottled juices and drinks). Prices are good, comparable with any other shops. It’s a small family business, and the people are friendly, but at first a bit cautious. I mean, this isn’t the nicest neighborhood. All in all, I love that this is in my neighborhood.
