I have been coming here for 2 years. Pastries for breakfast and tacos or a burrito for lunch. 3 stars for serving me fresh tacos for 2 years. 2 stars off for figuring out I’m not Latino and starting to put bones and week old(rough) meat in my taco. Also thanks for serving me last even though I paid before everybody else and handed you my order before everyone else. I think I will stop coming here. Same reason I stopped going to the taco truck on 104th. If you are Latino then you should definitely come to this place. Their Latino-only«fresh» tacos are to die for. Everyone else I do recommend coming here to try your luck. If you’re not lucky then McDonald’s is a few blocks down. McDonalds is not that good either. Just get a bag of chips and a 50 cent soda from any store close by.

Panaderia El Pueblo socks in a lot of stuff in a tiny space: –taqueria –panaderia: lots of varieties, even donuts. –fresh meat market –mexican groceries –cakes eats: 2 steak taco, 2 spicy pork taco(1) –meats choices steak, spicy pork, other choices are breaded. no lengua, cabeza –nice portions, meat tasted not so fresh. –hot salsa tasted canned. –pineapple fresca(1.5) tasted canned. 2 stars leftovers: –panaderia overflowing with buns, etc. better choice –meats leftover from meat dept. goes to taqueria? –single latina at taqueria bilingual, efficient worker. –a few tables inside dining. –not much parking outside.

I wish I could give this the 5 stars their Tres Leches cake deserves. But my experience was less than perfect. When there’s a birthday in the office, my manager asks me to order a cake for the person whose birthday it will be. It was finally MY turn. I wanted the best Tres Leches petty cash could buy. I called up my fellow Mexicans to ask which of all the bakeries & panaderias(soooo many!) in the greater Oakland area makes the best Tres Leches? More than a few suggested El Pueblo(not to be confused with«Mi Pueblo», the increasingly ubiquitous Latino-targeted grocery chain). So I called, waaaay ahead of time, and placed my order slowly & specifically with a man. I confirmed the date. The time. The message on the cake, «Feliz Cumplean~os, Elisa!» Imagine my surprise to get a call from the law clerk on my birthday saying, «They don’t have the cake. They thought you wanted it for Wednesday.» You can’t blame this on a miscommunication. I speak fluent Spanish & confirmed with the guy like 3 times. The young lady(if I can call her that) at the counter was adamant that they did not do messages on the cake. BUT! Law clerk bought another similarly sized albeit unaddressed Tres Leches cake & it rocked my socks off. Creamy, not too dry or too mushy, delicious fresh whipped cream frosting. So much so that I even braved the evening commute on public transportation, cake in hand, because I’ll be damned if someone else at the office takes that cake away from me. Worth the confusion, over all.
