holy crap, we just had this for the first time last night at Fremont OTG. their vegetarian herbivore burger can be made vegan if you ask them to exclude the creamy ranch and it is so freaking tasty!!! Im always a little hesitant to order portabello mushroom burgers because Ive had some weird ones that all you taste is mushroom. not the case here. you can tell that this is a specialty burger. Im not sure what makes it so tasty… I think i taste some kind of vinaigrette(maybe the portabello mushroom is marinated in it, maybe balsamic?) and then the avocado purée or paste does something too. I think i taste garlic too! The onions are super thin(which i love)…so thin i thought it was cheese and almost freaked out. the kale just makes it 10x more awesome. my bf who is NOT vegan had the exact same thing(i swear i dont force him to do this) and he LOVEDDDD it. we had this last night and he keeps talking about it. lol. thank you for also feeding us weird vegans with delicious food! :)

Came by here after getting off of Bart(Pleasant Hill). The trucks today didn’t seem like they had too much going on, but I noticed this truck and really had an inkling for a burger. I ended up ordering the Opie Burger which includes bacon and an egg with some cucumber in it too. It’s on a very great piece of bread that really adds to the flavor. The lady who runs the truck was nice as well. The burger was super hot and in all honesty a little messy, but I really enjoyed the burger. In typical food truck fashion it’s still a bit pricey($ 11) but in all honesty it’s worth the bucks! I enjoyed this burger and will gladly try some more things next time they are outside the Bart!

Hells yeah! The OTG gods smiled upon me and added these guys to the El Cerrito rotation. All I can say is hot damn! I was craving a burger and they did not disappoint. Went with an Opie burger– had cheese, onions, tomato, bacon, avo, and a fried egg. Yummy yum yum. It was pretty quick to get our order, but it was like 5pm. I didn’t have room for fries but now I’m determined to get them next time. Please come back to EC(Otherwise, I will stalk you)!!

Saw a long line at the food truck during lunch, and assumed that it has to be at least decent. The smell of meat cooking on a grill — who can’t pass that up? Turns out, it was just super slow sending food out. It took at least 20 min between the time I ordered and got my food. I had enough time to go to the Frozen Kuhsterd and order a kids scoop, finish it and still have to wait for my order. Now, about the burger… makes me cry thinking about how sad it was(spoiler alert). I got«The Opie» burger which had beef, cheddar, avocado, fried egg, bacon, onion, tomato, and cucumber on a garlic bun. Sounds delicious, right? That’s what I thought too. Where do I begin? The«garlic» bun had garlic powder dusted on top, but the bun was just ciabatta. There was nothing special about it. In fact, I took a small bite out of the bun, and did not go back to it because it was so tough and spongy. The avocado was from an avocado at some point before being put on the bun, but it was definitely not avocado — it was more of an avocado spread at best. The consistency of the avocado reminded me of the Wholly Guacamole brand’s guacamole. What false advertising and description. I was totally expecting avocado slices because that’s what one assumes is avocado unless there’s a new avocado that I don’t know about. There were two tomato slices, both soggy and there might as well not have been any onion in the burger. The cucumber sounded like it could have been refreshing and add some crunch to the burger, but unfortunately it had the texture and taste of a zucchini, so that was confusing. The fried egg wasn’t so fried — the lady who gave me my order had squeezed the burger with the delicate over easy/sunny side up egg in the middle of the burger, so unfortunately, the yolk drained out(major sadness). I say over easy/sunny side up because the egg white still didn’t set and the yolk was runny as well. The icing on the cake to this disaster of a so-called hamburger was the beef patty. The rockstar turned out to be not so much of a rockstar because the beef patty was well well done. There was no flavor at all either, and the patty to bun ratio was so off. Anytime there’s bacon in a burger, it’s serious. Too bad there was probably 4 one-inch to an inch and a half sized bacon bits which were equally as bland and over cooked as the patty. The more I ate this burger, the more angry and frustrated I was knowing that I had paid $ 11 for this burger. It kind of amazes me how a hamburger can be so lackluster, especially when the the burger is named after your truck, or was the truck named after the burger… a question as old as time. Bottom line, definitely not worth the money or tears. I’ve never been so disappointed by a burger before, but there’s a first time for everything.

The burger was mediocre at best, jacked up to $ 10, and the fries were regular frozen shoestrings with a little garlic, served about 10 minutes late because they forgot to put them in the frier, and jacked up to $ 6. I literally could have gotten a better meal at Carl’s Jr.‘s for half the price, in half the time.

Opie’s came to my office Food Truck Mafia(Bishop Ranch) this week and their Opie Burger changed my life. It was incredible. My coworker picked up and brought it back to the office and I couldn’t believe how delicious it was. I’m not a huge burger fan, but this burger blew my mind. The flavors, avocado, onions and especially the fried egg were fantastic. Really hoping they continue coming to the weekly truck line-up!

Food trucks are a great way to try local, custom foods that you might not find at a local restaurant. Opie’s delivers a unique selection of tasty delicious burgers and sides that are sure to satisfy any true burger-aficionado! I’ve tried almost every burger they’ve made — and have never been disappointed(quite the opposite — I’m addicted!). Side note: One of the many great things about Opie’s is that they are more than«just another food truck» — these guys and gals do a lot for local charities, and that means something to me. To have a passion and talent for burgers already scores points with me — but using it for good causes — top notch!

Mediocre at best. Dry patty, though decent flavor. Not sure how they call it «stacked». Unless you lift the bun, you can’t really tell that there is much in there. This truck was hired into a fundraiser, so perhaps they changed things around and provided a lower quality product? Anyway, I think the cheeseburger was about $ 9 regular price, fries $ 6. Thats $ 15 for a smallish burger and some fries in a paper tray. I just don’t get why people are so mesmerized by food trucks. I think I have dined at too many wonderful restaurants to think that any food truck is worth anything more than a quick, low price grab and go. If you want to have a REALLYGOOD burger, go to any steakhouse or fine dining restaurant that serves a burger. It will be about $ 15 to $ 20(max), they will use beef that was ground in house, they will serve it rare if you want, and all the ingredients will be top notch. And you actually get your food on a plate, you get to sit in a nice environment and enjoy your meal. Food truck craze — I just don’t get it. EDIT: Since I wrote this review, the owner wrote a scathing response to me, then proceeded to edit it, and then deleted it altogether. He accused me of being mad, and of lying about my curiosity of whether the food quality had been toned down because the truck was hired into a fundraiser where the guests didn’t have to pay for the food. In short, the food we received looked nothing like the pictures on Unilocal or the business website. The bun was a simple Kaiser bun that was toasted and buttered, not the roll seen in the pics. Even though the burger was supposed to have onions, none of them did. I’m not sure how you qualify a burger as stacked when it consists of a patty smaller than the bun, a slice of cheese, mustard, ketchup, and pickles. Each burger had a number of bites that contained no beef at all. Needed bigger patty or smaller bun. Nothing like the pictures. I was the guy who was served the burger missing the beef patty. I handed it back and said«Where’s the beef?» and we all got a kick out of it. The burger was fixed pretty quick. FWIW I had two burgers. They basically looked like those simple MacD’s burger with pickles, mustard, ketchup, and onions, but a grown up size with better beef. And no onions. Ooops. Our group had four burgers/fries, two with Pecorino/herb/garlic, and two without. The fry orders did not match the burger orders, so we had to rearrange our trays so that our people got the right burger and fry combo. AND… the loaded fries had no Pecorino or herbs, just garlic. Someone working that truck that day really did the owner wrong, and I hope he works on quality control, because these kinds of screw ups will end your business. I wish I had eaten a burger that looked ANYTHING like what is shown in the pictures. FYI, someone wrote a «Compliment» to my post, which was actually bashing for having high expectations of a food truck. No doubt this was the owner trying to retaliate against me. So I wouldn’t trust the reviews of this business. I wish I had taken a picture of the sorry food we were served that day. All in all, I didn’t have a good experience at this truck that was hired for a fundraiser, I wrote a 2 star review, and I received all manner of ugly responses from the owner, all of which were deleted within a day of his posting. But if you see this truck, and the burgers look anything like the pictures posted here and at their website, by all means, give it a try! I’m sure it will be better than what my group had.

Apparently I ordered an onion sandwich with a garnish of mushrooms. Could be delicious if the roles were reversed since I bought a portobello mushroom burger. Bun is good but I won’t be back until my onion breathe is gone after that first bite. I posted a pic and I had to dig the mushrooms out to even see the few that were in there.

Everything about Opie’s has a great personality, from the food to the people on the truck. While price falls to borderline expensive, everything I ate was top notch. I got The Opie burger, pecorino-garlic-herb fries, and a coconut water for the lulz. There’s no tax on top of the menu price so it was a straight up $ 20. The burgers aren’t Five Guys monsters, but they’re a good size packed with really good flavor. The Opie had some nice avocado spread, sliced cucumber, bacon, and cheddar cheese where the edges crisped up on the flat top. The egg gave a nice runny yolk to bring everything together, and the beef was nice and moist. The menu advertises a garlic bun — not sure if I get garlic but it is some really nice ciabatta. The garlic fries were really good — nice ratio of pecorino to garlic. Garlic is definitely present but tempered and not overwhelming. Is it worth $ 6? Probably because they charge the same amount for naked fries. But I think if I get them again I would share them to split the cost. I think the price point is a little high for me to be comfortable as a regular to Opie’s. But I was very satisfied with what I got, and I’m curious enough to try another burger when it comes back to town.

Good food, not cheap. Tried it for the first time today and was pretty satisfied with the flavors on my «Opie». Firm enough to stay solid for most of my meal… but that last bite… I needed a fork! The patty was cooked just like I like it and the egg on top was the right consistency(wiggly but not runny), which works well for street food. I’d go again in two weeks, on payday, cause it is NOT cheap. Serious consideration should be given for a combo deal with a better price. I was not expecting to drop a $ 20 for a burger and fries. Every once and awhile I guess it’s not so bad to «treat yo self!»

I got to try out Opie’s GSB Truck when they were a substitute truck one Friday night at Off The Grid Fort Mason. I heard great things about their grilled stack burgers and plus with them being one of the only few burger trucks at OTG, I was down to try something new. Out of all the burgers listed on their menu, it was The Brooklyn that caught my attention The Brooklyn – Garlic bun, beef, American cheese, sauerkraut, grilled onions, stoneground mustard, pickles It’s essentially like a reuben but with a juicy burger instead of pastrami. The whole thing worked for me though. I like sauerkraut on hot dogs and with this being my first ever burger with sauerkraut, it was pretty tasty! and tI loved the garlic bun they used as it not only added some flavor to the burger, but it held the burger together pretty well. I would definitely order this again! That was basically all I had and I’m liking what I’ve had so far. I would love for them to come back again to OTG Fort Mason so I can try their other burgers and their herb fries as well. There aren’t too many dedicated burger trucks around my area and it’s great to see Opie’s GSB Truck enter the scene with their tasty burgers.

I don’t get why a burger with such potentially good ingredients ends up tasting so absolutely bland. I ordered the namesake burger: garlic bun, beef, cheddar, avocado, fried egg, bacon, onion, tomato, cucumber. You’d think that with all that fat from the beef and bacon that it’d be juicy and food of yum. You would be pretty wrong, unfortunately. The beef was overcooked so there was no natural beef flavor left. Somehow all the other vegetables and bread completely hides the flavor of bacon. I ate the bacon by itself and it was normal bacon yumminess. So there was something else going on with the combination of ingredients. Another disappointing thing about Opie’s is the short menu. There’s the Opie, Brooklyn, Herbivore, Cheeseburger, and one special. I would have liked to seen more options. There are far better burgers from other trucks. Opie’s was just a total dud for me.

Fantastic burger at Off the Grid in Novato. With food trucks the wait is always a little long, but it was worth the wait. Great Opie burger, greasy in a good way. Lettuce, tomato, cheese, bacon, fried egg, and a smear of avocado on the top bun! Fantastic!

Wait for a burger and fries is way too loooong. Only one person ahead of me and I waited 27 minutes for a burger and fries. Ridiculous. Won’t be back.

Had Meathead for the first time in San Leandro on Tuesday at Food Truck Night. I selected the Herbivore and thought it was ok. The fries were HORRENDOUS! Since I’m not a fan of garlic fries, I asked for regular fries. What I got was a container of salt with some fries. So gross. Ended up wasting food, which I despise doing. Since this was my first time going to this event, there are other trucks I’ll try prior to giving them another chance.

I just posted a picture of my 8 year old enjoying the amazingly delicious Meathead burger! Do you like juicy, well season, and perfectly cooked? Then there is no better burger than the Meathead. We follow this truck from one side of the bay to the other! From Fremont to San Anselmo, and back to the A’s games are where we travel for Meathead. The food is spot on, never a disappointment! The portions are incredible, and the service cannot be beat. Their frys are perfect. Are you a Giants fan? Do you like ATT Park garlic frys? Well these fries blow them out of the water(and I am hard core Giants fan)! Crispy, crunchy, seasoned. Beautifully! Yum, I’m getting hungry. Needless to say this truck trumps all others. I would defiantly not call them fast food, but good food fast! They are not your average truck! Go see for yourself how awesome they are!

The Pulled Pork Gravy & Cheese Curd fries looked really promising. $ 6 not bad! Ordered them… got a tiny container… This was $ 6? I had no cheese curds on my fries and it look like meatless gravy over fries with the powder Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. The fries by itself taste good, but for $ 6 and the amount… naked fries are overly priced. I get that it’s a food truck. but I can go to the kinder’s truck and get key lime fries or sweet potato fries in a heaping cup for half the price $ 3. Needless to say. my 2 coworkers had ordered the same. and we were all disappointed. Will not be getting the pulled pork gravy & cheese curd fries again.

I’m not a huge food truck person, but as I was walking between two bars in Oakland, I happened to come across the Meathead Truck. Holy socks, Batman! I need to start hunting them down on a regular basis! I don’t mean to gush, but you know that point when you’re the designated driver, your escorting your friends who are getting to the point that you should probably go home, and you’re hungry enough to borderline hangry? Yep. That’s where I was. Fortunately, as DD, you have a plethora of drunks that are more likely to buy you food in repayment for you remaining Sober Sister for the night. I was able to convince a friend to buy me a burger and fries. I don’t have high expectations that late at night, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t floored by how amazing the food was. The guys in the truck were hilarious, the food had incredible flavor, and it made me actually look forward to eating from a truck again. Way to go, guys! Thanks for an awesome late night meal.
