The Mills track is wonderful. It’s surrounded by trees, bright green grass and a beautiful campus, and there is no exhaust smell. I am not the only one who thinks it’s wonderful because i am joined, daily, by the same group of regulars around the track. Some run, some walk, some bring their kids. There’s lots of life and quiet energy, and it’s safe. I love it and know others do too.

The only problem with Mills college’s outdoor track is that it’s not a real track. its like 325 meters around, so people who go and run 8 laps there actually are running less than 2 miles. There’s no lanes, I hav eno idea why Kalyani said there is lanes there. It’s a dirt circle right next to 580. If you wanna breathe car exhaust and trick yourself into thinking you can run a mile way faster than true, run here. otherwise, use the piedmont high school track, which is 400 meters around and actually has a real rubber track surface.

This outdoor track and soccer field is easily accessed from the main street(MacArthur Blvd) by foot or by car and is open for use when not booked by another sports team(there is a calendar on the noticeboard stating when the field is reserved). The grass is in good condition with very few potholes and the decomposed granite path is even all the way around and well maintained. The track lanes are good for running or walking, and are wide enough for many people to go around at different speeds. There is also a decent water fountain, though the water is not cooled. Whenever I feel like running I come to Mills — it is great if you are subconscious about exercising in front of other people because the trees and fencing enclosing it on all sides make it feel very private.
