This place is HORRIBLE. Don’t waste your money. First, the salsa. Super watery. I knew that I couldn’t expect too much since the salsa sucked so I ordered tacos. Who can mess up tacos?(Tacos are my safe item at Mexican restaurants that look sketchy.) The tacos came out super DRY. I think the meat was old or maybe sitting out. The carne asada was super dry and tough and I swear I cracked a filling or something. Very tasteless food. Super dry and a real waste of money. The only positive I have is the server sweet. Avoid this place.

Wow, had time to waste and stopped by to grab a beer. With checking In I was able to indulge in a delightful free quesadilla which was the best I ever had. I definitely recommend this restaurant and see myself returning! If your into it, they have a pool table too. Very clean restaurant with nice employees and tasty salsa and chips.

Delicious food, full bar, fresh tortillas and a pool table. This is not my first time here, but due to the service and the quality of the food, I will continue to come as well as share this wonderful restaurant with the world.

The shrimp platter of crazy is amazing. definitely enough for 2 – 3 people… the fundido not so much(it is a big glob of cheese that congeals within 90 seconds of getting it). Overall place is decent and not usually too busy during lunch.

Huge and I mean HUGE menu. Was very hard to just pick 2 items. We ordered the Gorditas, Carne Asada Fries, Chili Verde and a quesadilla that looked like a burrito. The Gorditas were delicious! The carne asada fries they have here are close to SoCal but still no cigar(anyone got suggestions?). The Chili Verde could’ve been better but it wasn’t bad. The quesadilla was iOS but like I said was more of a grilled burrito. The area is very large and they have a pool table. Service was super friendly. We will be back to try other items.

They have upgraded the look of the place however it still has a very authentic Mexican feel complete with Mexican style bar and pool table. My last two visits the food was great and the service friendly, all at a very reasonable price. I would recommend to anybody. Why go a restaurant in Mexico City when you get it all at Grullense?

Came in here on a wim before the TIGERS vs A’s game and I’m glad we did. The margaritas were bomb. I ordered the mole poblano, it came with HOMEMADE corn tortillas… it was AMAZING!!! The homemade corn tortillas set it off. Next time I come back for a game, I’m comin here.

I’ve only been to this restaurant twice. My bff likes to come on banda night. The first night here, pretty full. Like my bff says, it was crackin’. The second night, not a lot of people. Am not a drinker but my bff is and she didn’t complain about the alcohol or the service. I had a appetizer sampler the second time here. I liked it, everything on the sampler was quite tasty. I didn’t eat the whole thing, it was too much and beer was spilled on it. These damn drunk people I kick it with. Lol!!! Both my experiences were quite pleasant. Am pretty sure I will be back again, as long as my bff wants to continue coming.

I was introduced to this place by someone I knew who spoke highly of the food. Honestly id passed tho place a million times. not particularly a place id dine at regularly. The parking is terrible, the service is a but terrible too. I never caught a glimpse of a smile just blank stares and what other reviewers have started, the bill takes forever. I think by the time I grabbed someone’s attention, I had possibly digested my food alrdy. I been here a total 3 times this week. Pricing seems inconsistent. I ordered 2 things which came up to $ 35 bucks. Like seriously? How’d a $ 12 dollar meal and a $ 8 half order with a drink amount to that? The food is good. Not the best, never had CARROTS in my rice but ok… I had thee worst experience with the bartender. Perhaps it was a bad day, they have an extensive drink menu which they didnt know how to make any of them. Ill save my time continue going to my trucks.

Live mariachi with great food and drinks. Camarones en crema de tequila are the best. I mostly go on Friday nights to chill and have a few drinks with friends.

Really nice place, live music and karaōke on Friday night. They have an extensive drink menu. The food was good. Their service was a bit lackluster. I was in the customer service industry for years and unfortunately, the head host was too much into herself and showed poor customer service skills. The attention she receives from men may have gotten to her head and instead of acting like a head host, she prances around with self importance. This was quite off pudding because she paid no attention to the customers. We were abandoned at our table until we flagged a waitress down. She had seated us and completely forgot about telling a waitress about our table and once she realized it, she tried to brush it off, didn’t apologize or acknowledge us. Most of her time was spent outside talking to the security guard. Needless to say, I like the place not do much the service but will give it another chance.

My coworker recommended Grullense and we finally had the opportunity to go. Very spacious interior, it seems like they have special events or a weekend brunch. The menu is quite extensive, and even though they mentioned lunch specials, I couldn’t find it. I wasn’t very hungry, so I ordered a half order of the sopas plate($ 5.95) and a horchata($ 2.50). I ordered a carne asada sopas(came with guac and sour cream) and it came with a small side of rice and beans. It wasn’t too memorable. The horchata was way too sweet though. I had to add water to it. My coworker said it didn’t taste like horchata, but more like condensed milk. I like condense milk. =P But even I eventually threw it away after drinking about half of it because it was too sweet. My coworker ordered a shrimp burrito(it was huge!) and she said it cost about $ 12. Pricey, but the shrimp looked pretty big. During a Friday lunch, it wasn’t very busy. Not sure if this place livens up at night. I’d explore other options in the area before I’d come back.

My experiences at this restaurant have varied, so I’ll clarify. The consistent things I’ve found is the yummy spicy salsa, fresh food and leering men. For reals. There are pool tables at this joint, but they’re always occupied by local dudes that stay staring. It’s kind of embarrassing and I know I shouldn’t be the embarrassed one. I’ve gone with my sister on one occasion when she was visiting from out of town, and a few times with my friends and boyfriend. Of course, no beef when my bf was there, but bah! that’s the culture we live in folks… Have you ever been eye fucked? – no fun if you’re at the receiving end… I should also add that the service was inconsistent. When my sister and I were there, there were a couple of other parties that were attended to, but somehow we got overlooked despite being seated 5 feet away. Now the positives! Good food like my mom cooks. The bacon wrapped cheese stuffed jalapenos are yummy as are the tacos and shrimp appetizer assortment. If you’re thirsty, make sure you check out the extensive Michelada menu. The Diablo one is SPICY and delicious. JUM!!! Micheladasssss!!! You should go and make up your own mind.

Blows all competitors away by far! So authentic I’m still salivating the morning after. nothing but beautiful Latinas in the kitchen as well as the floor so you know your going home with happy taste buds. This is the best Mexican food I’ve have since I moved from San Diego 11years ago. Didn’t really get a chance to try all the drinks yet but il be back. Shrimp cocktail dope as well as the chorizo beans n rice.

Found myself here eating an early lunch before a meeting around the corner. The place was empty except for me, but like I said, it was early, and they seemed to be still in the process of opening. I had a ham torta, which was good enough, but nothing to write home about. the ham was basically taken from a pack of cold cuts and then sliced into strips. I haven’t had a ton of tortas, as I’ve only just recently turned onto them, but this was not up to par with the better ones I’ve had. The service was good. I had to use a little of my Spanish with the waitress. I get the feeling the usual clientele is predominantly Spanish speaking. It’s in the Fruitvale after all. What looked interesting to me was the tequila bar. The whole restaurant is a big space, so I bet it gets busy on certain nights.
