Maria’s Market is a cramped market with a meat counter, some produce, some soft drinks, no alcohol, laudry supplies, mexican groceries. buys: amazon tonic tea(1) –300 calories, yikes! 25 gms sugar, glucose –brewed tea with many fruit based syrups and ginseng/root extracts *sounds nasty, probably just sweetened water-like drips: –american groceries pricey(dressing 1.99) –mexican canned goods seem reasoable –meats had no pricing –smiling service, so 3 stars.

tiny market on corner of 73rd ave and international. so, once again, like so many in the neighborhood, it’s nearly always flanked by a small group of older teen to young 20’s men standing around waiting to look me up and down as i enter and exit the store. great! nothing like it to start or end my day! :) however, about the shop. it’s a dinky 3 isle shop with some basics, iceberg lettuce, but no romaine or leaf. no prices on the very small produce section, so no idea if the onion i’m buying is 59c a pound or 3 bucks a pound. i hate that. i’m a bargain shopper all the way, and i don’t need to ask you about every damn cucumber and mushroom price while i’m shopping! so, the produce section is proportionately teeny for the store. although the sign on the side of the building touts produce market. just the basics here, and barely that! but, the produce in here was fresh enough, and priced well, once i found out the price! and, there is an equally itsy meat counter. not great, not horrifying. a few choices… chicken, pork chops, steaks, ground beef, etc. nothing gourmet or organic here. all around, prices are pretty good, i stopped in for a half gallon of milk and stuff for a salad, for about $ 3. parking on the street only. the people who run the shop are friendly and curteous. there actually is a maria as well! i’ll go back here.
