Before I speak… I’ve Ben here once with my SO and he has been here a few times since he is from around here. I wanted a Taco salad last time and it was HUGE and so good! This morning I was really craving for another! We were the first folks there(Mexican for breakfast? Yes please!) well what would have been 4 star rating… dropped to ONE star because as SO was paying for our food… a ROACH crawled right in FRONTOFUS on the damn counter!!! Sorry. Once I get a glimpse of that? I’m done for life! I don’t want to sit here thinking«what if this has roach bodies in it?». And to be clear, I am not oblivious thinking that other restaurants don’t have some roaches, but I NEVER see them AND roaches that walk all out in the light of day without scurrying fast, mean that they have a much bigger infestation and most likely for a number of months/years. Do not recommend!!!

I’m sorry but I’m about to keep it as REAL as I’ve ever done! The food there is complete GARBAGE! No flavor involved whatsoEVER! I had a steak quesadilla and that thing was just completely bland in flavor, no excitement when it gets to you on a plate, no oooooo’s or ahhhhhhh’s I can’t wait to eat this! Tuh! Complete JOKE! It went More like… oh, this is it? I’m supposed to get full off of this? I mean if I took that quesadilla that was sliced into four pieces and stacked them on top of each other, it STILL wouldn’t be half the size of a mission st sized quesadilla if I sat on it, ran over it with a bus and steam rolled over it lol SO disappointing! And I knew it would be right when I seen it in front of me. But I had no choice BUT to eat it. Why? Bcuz I don’t like to waste money like that. Which is funny to say because I had just wasted my money on that place. Yeah the one I will never go to ever again! I mean. We also ordered prawn nachos and the cheese was not melted all the way(go figure!) and there were barely any prawns in our nachos. Ratio of prawns to nachos was 47 chips to 1 prawn. I mean it was a sad sight to see. My girlfriend had a steak burrito and as we sat there and ate she complained about her stomach hurting. Come on! Look I think I’ve said enough here. Eat at your own risk! The one star I’ve given it goes to the bathroom. Not because it was clean(cuz it wasn’t) but because they thought about the little people in this world and added an extra toilet to fit their size! And it’s right next to the big people’s toilet. Nice touch!

For the past 5 years, we’ve been going to this restaurant on an annual basis, catching up with friends and me having my regular«steak fajita plate, which gives you actual streak strips with along side various colored bell peppers and onion. Well guess what… this time it was little broken up steak pieces mixed in with alot more various colored bell pepper and onions. So I guess that means, I paid extra to get steak and I didn’t get steak. Wasted my money and my enjoyment visiting this restaurant which we will come anymore. So, don’t waste your time ordering the Steak Fajita Plate. It’s a rip-off…and if I were you, I would not order the Chicken Fajita Plate either… they are trying to cut costs by cutting the amount of meat.

I come here quite a bit. There seasoning is pretty good and the price is fair. I’m always on the hunt for the perfect burrito and this close but not quite.

One of the better Mexican joints around the lake. Portions are huge and their meats are good — juicy and flavorful. My go to are the carnitas and chicken. From tacos, burritos, and nachos, they haven’t failed me yet. Free salsa and chips(not self serve), and they serve a variety of drinks from the bottle and frescas. A spot to check out if you’re in the area.

This place is Horrible Never eat here!!! I went here on my lunch break because it was close by. I Ordered a chicken Burrito I was the only person in line and it took 15 minutes to get my food WTF? The burrito was Nasty Dried out chicken looked as if it was left out for days looked like Jerky it had rice and a little beans very bland and dry I ended up throwing it on the grass for the crows couldn’t stomach it than a few hours later I had explosive diarrhea place made me sick as a dog you’ve been warned eat here at your own risk I would never eat here.

Nice little spot near the lake. I’ve only had their caldo tlalpeño so far, but if the rest of their food is as good as their caldo, then I’m becoming V I P Update: their taco salad asada is pretty good. They cook the asada perfectly with a slight«crunch» to it. And flavor is tasty.

I’ve been here a couple times and think the Mexican food is solid. I’ve had al pastor and carne asada tacos; I’d definitely opt for al pastor next time. The chicken enchiladas were bomb with a thick and flavorful enchilada sauce, very dark in color and a perfect amount of sour cream added on top. The chile verde with carnitas was delicious; the sauce was thick and offered a lot of flavor although not quite what I was expecting for chili verde. I was expecting slow simmered meat in the sauce however it seemed like they poured the sauce on top of some meat. My favorite salsa is the tomatillo salsa but they don’t bring this to the table so you need to ask for it.

SICK. Not very clean and smelled like dirty mop. The food tasted pretty good and the service was not bad. But on the way home my boyfriend and I both started feeling sick. He just threw up and I’ve been doing the same on and off. Maybe some bad dairy or meat?

My colleagues and I have been going here for semi decent Mexican foods for quite awhile. I always stick to the super nachos and share it with people. Mainly because it’s huge, has some flavor, and cheap if you split it with at least one other person. However, my experience today reaffirmed my doubts about this place. THISPLACEISVERYDIRTYANDLACKSCUSTOMERSERVICE. I placed an order via phone and went to pick it up 20 minutes later. There was a customer in front of me ordering and it took literally 10 – 15 minutes for the cashier to take his order. When it was my turn, the phone rang but the worker didn’t even apologize for the wait or seemed to care. She answered the phone nonchalantly. Then, to my surprise, a COCKROACHWASCRAWLINGALLOVERHERREGISTER. Granted it was a tiny one, but I have not seen a cockroach crawling all over a register in my life. The cashier didn’t notice it at all since she was on the phone. As soon as we pointed it out, she killed the bug and tossed it somewhere and washed her hands. However, she gave NO apologies or anything. She was just silent. WTF. I would’ve cancelled my order, caused a scene, and left… but we desperately needed last minute food for a freaken potluck. This place is grimey, dark, and very prone to creatures such as cockroaches. It smells like bad cleaners when you walk in and the furniture/floor seems dirty. I will not come back here and will warn my colleagues about this place. Gross… I’m still appalled that the workers could care less about the cockroach incident. You’ve been warned. Eat at your own risk.

Note: This place only has a Conditional Pass for cleanliness posted on the door. Grabbed three breakfast burritos to-go here today and was sorely disappointed with the amount of time it took and quality. I’ve seen reviews where they talk about the wait and experienced it because they don’t cook the orders in the order they’re received. It took them 25 minutes to cook some scrambled eggs, ham/chorizo and cheese and put it into a small tortilla. We sat there as we watched three people who came in behind us get their food(there were only 5 orders that morning). On top of that, we didn’t order the ham burrito but the bacon. They messed that up for us too. I’ve been a fan of Los Cantaros for over 10 years and today’s experience will keep me from going back for a while, if ever.

This place is great, simple and fast. If i am busy and don’t have time to make lunch, I go here and get one of their large burritos. Service is fairly fast so you can definitely count on these guys. It’s also close to my house so that is an added bonus. Walk — Get burrito — Stuff face — Go home — Work. That is how my schedule often looks like and thank goodness that Los Cantaros is there for me! I don’t know what I would do without them, truly. During my frequent visits here, I have not tried too many things on their menu and usually resort to my favorites such as chile verde chicken burrito and the aqua fresca of the day. Tastiful. There are signs signaling of their happy hour when you can get really cheap beers, however I haven’t been here for anything other than lunch. Perhaps something to try another time. But for dinner I usually choose other spots. Somehow this place has a very lunch-ey vibe and it may take something more for me to start considering this place dinnerworthy. But its good for lunch. Need something fast and a lot? This is the place.

Alright guys, I come to you as a Mexican food snob and I fully admit that. Having lived in San Diego for almost five years will do that to a person. The setup has plenty of space for the patrons which is a plus. For sure. The salsas are bland which is a shame because there’s so many fantastic flavor possibilities out there. There was truly nothin special about my burrito. I waited to get one of my favorite types of food to be completely underwhelmed. I cannot, in good conscience give a rating higher than the two stars. The service is on par and the food is well, food

My mom and I came by because we were going to Enssaro, which didn’t open till 11:30 and we were in a rush. I wasn’t super excited since I was so looking forward to Ethiopian food, but we were on a time crunch to get my mom to her flight. Anyway, ended up ordering the vegetarian burrito with guac and sour cream and it ended up being the best veggie burrito EVER!!! It was huge so I only ate half and it was just starchy creamy deliciousness. I’ve had a lot of lackluster veggie burritos but this one was up there with the best. Nothing super special — just well sauteed broccoli, zucchini, and other misc veggies, with creamy beans and tender rice and a super thin flour tortilla. I was super happy. Sadly, there was no salsa bar, but the salsas they did provide with the complimentary chips were delicious. Ask for the green salsa too — it was amazing. I’d gladly come back here for a bite. My mom enjoyed her salmon tacos, but the corn tortillas on them looked a little coarse for my tastes, if you know what I mean. Also, saw plates of the nachos go by and they were humongous. Insane. My jaw dropped. You better share that shit.

Been here many times since it’s so close to my house. Street parking is a hit or miss depending on time of day, but there is metered parking & its close to residential parking. There is inside & recently added outside seating. My favorite thing they offer are the five dollar wine margaritas of coarse. All day, any time! Besides that their fajitas are the bomb! I usually go with grilled chicken/prawn. They are served with rice & black or pinto beans. Only downfall with the fajitas are for 3 extra tortilla shells they charge around $ 2(hella overpriced). Anyway my loves absolutely favorite is the super prawn burritos w/spinach tortilla. He never wants to try anything else. Their agua frescas are delicious as well as their horchatas! They don’t have fountain drinks but do have a small selection of bottled drinks & beer. They also offer a small variety of desserts I have not yet tried.

First time dining in at this restaurant wasn’t exactly a pleasant dinner. I ordered the carne asada plate. I was watching the Giants vs Cowboys season opener when I started to realize my food was taking a little long. Other customers who ordered after me were getting their food, so I decided it was time to ask what was going on. A guy(maybe the manager), came to my table and told me that they were out of carne asada steaks and all they had was chopped carne asada. However, they took 30+ min to let me know that. It wasn’t an issue to me that I had to get my carne asada already chopped. I assumed that’s what it was going to be anyways. They did the right thing and refunded my money. On the bright side, it’s cheap Mexican food and not bad. Would I come back? Yes.

HORRIBLESERVICE!!! Just plan to wait for your meal for a good 30mins– takeout or dining in. Food is actually pretty good but the horrible service makes the experience here not worth coming again. They also got my husbands order

This place is ridiculous! No cheese! They ran out of cheese at 3pm but they still charged me for it. They could’ve offered more guacamole or sour cream but they didn’t. I ordered 2 carnitas tacos & a drink for $ 15 bucks. I left feeling ripped off. The chips were old & they didn’t offer any salas when I ask for some she said it should be in the bag but it clearly wasn’t. This is my 2nd time here I thought after my first disappointing time I would give them another chance boy was I wrong

I used to hate this spot because I felt like they lacked the flavor so present in all of the other taquerias and trucks I frequent. I mean, this is the Bay boo, you gotta come correct. But if you try hard enough, if the fire in your belly burns hot and hongry enough(as mine almost always does) and if you are relatively creative, you can make it work. I found a way to make it work one afternoon when I ordered a side of mixed veggies and a side of rice and beans. The veggies were perfectly cooked, seasoned just right and totally on point. Rice and beans were just fine too. I finally found a meal that I liked! Salsa is good, not great. Add a little lime and deal.

COCKROACHESONTHEWALLS!!! Used to come here weekly for lunch UNTIL today(Feb 22, 2016). There were two roaches crawling on the left blue wall(next to where the menus are). I was so disgusted I walked out and let the girl behind the counter know of the roaches. She said nothing to me, not even an apology. Major health code violation. I would have taken a photo but they crawled underneath the menu frame before I could do so. Los Cantaros: time to do a cleanup.
