Great place. I have to laugh at Unilocalers’ expectations for a $ 40 massage. Aside from being ethnocentric entitled elitists, you’re cheap too. Lucy gave me one of the best massages I’ve ever had. It seemed to last 90 minutes, not 60. Yes, she demanded $ 10 for the tip, but honestly, I just think it’s the language barrier that makes it seem harsh. And frankly, I tipped $ 20. It was that good. Bottom line: great massage, no ambiance, no pampering. If you need to be coddled, go to therapy.

Was out in front, called the number and they had an available slot. Mind you — this was at 8:30PM. Paid $ 40 up front — saw no problem with this. My massage was very good — at any reasonably comparable price. I was ready to tip $ 10 and yes — the therapist asked. I gave a $ 20, asked for $ 10 back and got it. So — maybe a little«awkward,» but I imagine they feel like they need to ask for a tip and give«guidance» as to what is expected… Great value, great service. I’ll go back.

I had been to Linsheng several times, because of the price, but like another reviewer wrote, the better masseuses seem to have left. The last time I went, I came away in greater pain than when I arrived and the pain lasted a couple of days afterward. The masseuse sat and then crawled on my back — not a pleasant experience. Like others commented, I offered a 20% tip and the masseuse said, «Give me 10.» That sealed it for me. I am no longer a customer.

A mediocre massage that was interrupted six times. At one point, she massaged me with one hand for five minutes while she argued with a potential customer on the phone. When it was time to pay for this lovely experience, I told her to put $ 45 on my card. I usually tip 20% for massage when I’m satisfied and 10% when I’m not satisfied. It’s really hard work, so unless they break my arm, they’re getting a 10% tip. Like she did with the other unfortunate reviewers, she said«You tip $ 10!». I didn’t want to get into a huge fight with her while she was holding my credit card, so I let it go. To top things off, the bathroom was gross and I got the feeling that this place has a reputation for happy endings. A few men dropped in while I was there and spoke with the masseuse in hushed tones. Creepy. I don’t expect luxury with a $ 40 massage, but this was a whole new level of non-luxury. If I really need a massage, I’ll drop the $ 80 to go to a decent place that doesn’t extort 25% tips. This isn’t about language or culture, it’s about common decency. I should have consulted with Unilocal before I stepped into the Linsheng house of horrors. Anyone who gives this place five stars is either a masochist or a friend of the owner.

$ 40 for an hour massage is a reasonable deal, and the ladies here give good massages but there are some detractions– the rooms are cold, and they answer the phone right in the middle of your massage, this time it wasn’t bad b/c I went in the middle of the day in the middle of the week so only 1 telephone interruption. What galled me today, I was going to give the masseuse a 20% tip or $ 8 she said,” you give me $ 10″ — at that point I should have asserted myself and said if you don’t like $ 8 Ill give you $ 5. Last time I tipped only $ 5 because there were so many phone interruptions. Bottom line be firm on deciding tip amount before you leave the room. Then I go home and had a NHI special for $ 25 and you don’t tip there. I have not had as good a massage at NHI though.

ok. –place is cheap(40bucks for a 1 hour massage) –clean — they hardly speak any English –the massage made my tense back and shoulders feel better will somebody who speaks Chinese please call them and explain that it is rude to ask and name your own tip? She insisted I give her ten dollars although I thought she deserved less. I was like whatever, gave her the money and got pushed out the door. I am easy going. I don’t care… but can understand how this could be a deal breaker for some customers. All I wanted was a good massage. And I got it. Don’t go there if you are expecting a luxury day spa type experience.

I agree with the other reviewer that this place is affordable but would I really go again? not really. A mid aged Chinese woman took care of me. I didn’t know if I had to take off my clothes are what since her English was limited, so I kept my clothes on. The place is clean, the massage was ok; nothing stellar. I only did 30 minutes for $ 30. When I paid, I gave the lady two $ 20 bills(and expected change back), she then said, «you give me $ 10 tip». I have no issues tipping well, but when the person tells you– not very good customer service. I’ll stick to CMT trained rather than these pushy cheap Asian massage places who are looking to make a quick buck.

I’ve had three GREAT massages here and plan to return. If you like Shiatsu or other acupressure massages, these Chinese ladies are wonderful. They don’t speak much English but I like that –no need for polite chit chat:) The location is in a converted home right next to Safeway and it’s funky because it’s a flat divided into two massage rooms, but it’s clean and kid of charming. Yes, they sometimes have to answer the phone(it’s only happened to me once and it was a brief interruption) but businesses that offer $ 40 massages don’t have secretaries. And, yes, they expect a tip. The earlier reviews are off base –and vaguely racist. This is a place that offers high quality massage at an amazing price.

I went skeptically after reading this page, and was pleasantly surprised. One must take the price into account… just 40 dollars for a full body massage lasting a full hour! Although this is no luxury day spa, it is a good massage. With your eyes closed, you can imagine that you ARE in a luxurious spot. I would go back and recommend it to those that can give up the professional/luxurious atmosphere of a normally priced massage. One last note… it is not possible for communication in English, so I would say«caution» if you have medical issue that must be understood by your massage therapist. And another note… privacy is not the top priority at this place. Rooms are separated by screens only.

Since this place opened by my house Ive been excited to try it out. Id never had a professional massage before so when I got an hour gift certificate for this place I was excited. This was yesterday. Before I got on Unilocal to check and see if anyone had reviewed them. That was when I was excited… not after, not during the massage, Id have to say Unilocal fucked up my vibe. Which sucks because its not Unilocal fault, its their fault for being badly reviewed on Unilocal. So I call and schedule the appointment like it says, I inform her I have a gift certificate, etc. As soon as I enter she greets me and brings me into the front room, its a house so my room had the fireplace in it(not lit, dont get any ideas) and at first I thought they had rats but then its just this weird soundtrack they have playing. After she was helping another lady she asked me to pay, I reminded her of the gift certificate and she took it from me. Actually my ex had written a love note on the gift certificate so she tried to read it at first then continued. I know this is only a $ 40 massage for an hour, and yes I was a bit satisfied, whole body, relaxation, etc. But Ive been in a couple car accidents and sit at a desk all day so I was hoping to feel somewhat healed or better, but I dont. During the massage a couple had come in and the lady seemed more excited about them than anything else, she tried to compliment my nails for a tip… I told her I was having them done next(just talking to ANYone about my day off getting pampered) and that I lived next door. She said«Good», pushed me out and slammed the door. Well eff you too! Ruined my special little day to myself.
