ATTENTIONALLFOODIES; this is the best spot you can get the best barbacoa!!! I’ve been coming to this particular food truck since I was a KID and that’s no lie. When ever I’m in east Oakland I definitely hit this place up. The woman that I remember growing up has definitely trained the younger employees to be just as great as she was from way back. True tradition. So authentic. Coming back and being able to grub at one of my favorite childhood food spots gives you such a warm«welcome back home» feel. It’s awesome. There’s not too many places that can leave such a good and YUMMY impression that feels just like the very first time you tried it. The barbacoa tortas are only $ 8 and will have you so amazingly satisfied. Bless the woman and her family for keeping one of the realist Mexican family food trucks around fruitvale. Real foodies would understand my passion lol

Stumbled upon this little hidden gem of a food cart on a fluke one day. I love supporting small businesses and I’m glad I decided to try this one. From the little older lady that takes the orders, to the chefs that already know I’m there for the consumé, Mexican soup with shredded carne asada. I recommend this taco stand

The below is a copy and paste from my review of Pipirin as they are the same place. The menu consists of tacos, tortas, tostadas, and consome. I opted for two tacos de barbacoa($ 2.50 each) and a consome with meat($ 2). The meat on the tacos was really delicious and the toppings available surprised me because they have home grown chiles available to eat with bites. Really authentic like. My only gripe is that the tortilla to meat ratio is OFF. This places uses two yellow large [read standard](about 6 inch) tortillas, where the meat amount is much more justified for the small tortillas typical in other taco places. The consome was lacking flavor but the with meat option doesnt disappoint. The meat is served in abundance unlike the taco. Note there are no tables and everything must be eaten ala Mexico standing or on a chair with the consome on the floor. This does make it difficult if you aren’t used to it. I heard some frequent customers ask the lady for empanadas, so if you arrive on a good day it seemed like those were a go to option as a small dessert. Near by there are also lots of stands like churros or fruit that make this place a good place to visit. In summary, the meat was 5 star worthy but the consome made with canned garbanzo beans and abundance of tortilla drag it down.

Easily the best barbacoa I’ve ever had in my life and I’ve made it a point to go to every single hole in the wall Mexican spot or truck I have ever come across as well as refined gourmet Mexican like, «Comal» in berkley, «nopolito» in frisco, «Oyamel» by Jose Andres in DC and«frontera» by rick Bayless in Chicago. I had my barbacoa in taco form and can’t wait to go back and try it in Torta form. The jus was so good that I drank the rest of it off my plate to finish off the last bite. Simply, AMAZING!

The one thing that makes this place unique: the juice. The succulent juice that comes with the meat makes these tortas borderline addictive(I’ve gone twice this week). Essentially it is a French Dip, Mexican style, and with a lot more flavor. Go for the barbacoa torta and if you haven’t had your fill, try the piernas tacos.

Take a little detour away from the main International Blvd. strip in the Fruitvale and discover this taco truck in a parking lot. Order the tacos barbacoa. Only 2 bucks each! The meat is stewed in some delicious juices and spices. Get extra napkins as it will be dripping from your plate. Good quality corn tortillas. Friendly service, even friendlier if you can attempt your high school Spanish.

Barbacoa Tortas. i’m sure the other food is equally impressive. but get the barbacoa torta and eat outside in the sun. totally unassuming joint that is stationed on the corner /served out of a truck. but its worth a stop by and quick grub.
