Jules Pizza is very good, and caters to my gluten free needs. The price is reasonable and they have a good amount of options. The environment is very clean and it’s a great lunch spot. They also have the best gluten free crust in the east bay.

I thought Jules was a bit of a silly idea… why open up a pizza joint across from one of the most well known pizza establishments in the bay area?! Well one day I decided to give them a shot. Maybe it was out of sheer curiosity, maybe it was due to the fact that I had pretty much lived off flat breads during my vacation in Kauai… whatever the case I ordered a pie; with butternut squash, apples, caramelized onions, and mascarpone. YUM! Much to my surprise it was actually a pretty solid ‘thin crust’. I will say this, the pies are much more like flat breads as oppose to pizza; they’d be great for a party… if you wanted something with some pizzazz without slaving away in the kitchen. If you’re into ‘alternative’ pizzas and don’t want something painfully heavy/ultra cheesy then you’ll most likely enjoy this place.

Delicious pizza. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. 30 minute wait at Zachary’s but able to order, find table, and eat at Jules in less than ten minutes! Love that you can try various kinds of pizza. Even had wine with my meal which added a nice touch. Great service.

When it comes to pizza, I always prefer thin crust. I’m also a little picky when it comes to pizza toppings, as I stick with veggie options and the only meat I like on my pizza is chicken. The toppings are also seasonal and creative culinary combinations. Turns out, Jules Thin Crust is my kind of place! A friend and I met up to have lunch there. We ordered a small pizza with half and half topping choices. She is on a gluten free diet, so we chose the gluten-free crust. It takes longer bc they have to bake one fresh instead of heating up the slices on the counter(which actually seems better to me). I’ll have a fresh pie any time, but if you’re on a time crunch, would need to consider. On one half, we chose the roasted 100% natural chicken, chopped organic tomatoes and onions, mozzarella, lime juice, cilantro, extra virgin olive oil. The other half was pea sprouts, beets, pineapple and goat cheese. I definitely loved the pea shoots and beet pizza more than the chicken. This is not your typical veggie pizza. It was filled with all sorts of flavors and all of the ingredients were fresh. I have only had pea shoots in Chinese cooking, but never outside of that. They were lightly blanched and tasted so good with the beets and pineapple. It was like having a salad on your pizza; if you like that sort of thing. The chicken side was just so-so for me. A little boring but not too shabby either. Surely, a healthy pizza. For a small pizza with a total of 8 slices, it was $ 16.50. For two people, can’t beat it and I even had a slice to take home. Very casual spot. We saw lots of families with kids during the lunchtime. The service is good, quick and easy. Restroom clean. The location is a two blocks down from the Rockridge Bart Station. Can’t wait to try more of the veggie options!

Been here dozens of times. Love it. Nice staff too. The Unilocal review length requirements are really really really stupid.

A quick and friendly place to get a bite while waiting for a table at ramen shop. Pizza flavors are good and the staff is friendly. Very reasonable prices.

Very mediocre gluten-free pizza. Neither tasty nor interesting. Spin and Lungomare do it way better.

I so want to love this place and I have tried. I adore thin Neapolitan style pizza. The Bay Area has some excellent choices for this style of pizza(I particularly l like Forge, Pizzaolio, and Antica). With pizza like this one expects fresh ingredients, artisan cheeses, flavorful sauces, and seasonally inspired combinations that really sing. Most of all the crust must be sturdy enough to support topping while being both crisp and delicate. Jukes crust is too often just limp. Hard to overcome bland, limp crust.

Perfect delivery on a Friday night! Delicious gluten free. #10 pesto, tomatoes, basil, caramelized onions and goat cheese.

I love to stop in here once a week. They have thin sliced pizza but the best part is they have gluten free crust plus a wide selection of meatless pizzas. I usually get the basil tomato no cheese pizza and a mixed green salad with balsamic vinegarette. It’s a perfect dining out meal with out all the guilt and it’s budget friendly.

***HIPSTERALERT*** Yet another Oakland establishment with mediocre food and oodles of young people with clever tattoos, plaid shirts, skinny jeans and snarky talk waiting in line for something mistakenly called pizza that is really just okay. This crust tastes like stale Saltines! I appreciate the whole«salad pizza» concept, but for four bucks? Hipsters don’t care — if their brethren are suckin’ it down, so will they! Silly hipsters! There is better pizza across the street at overrated Zachary’s. Or, go to another hipster pizza place with much better pies, Lanesplitter. Avoid long lines with the trust fund troop!

This is one of my favorite places in Berkeley! If I wanted pizza, I would decide if I wanted to eat heavy(Zachary’s next door) or light(Jules). I love the concept of thin crust topped with simple, quality ingredients. It’s perfect for a casual dinner for two because you can pick three or four different flavors and the staff would cut each slice in half for you. For a small person, I would have a happy belly from just one or two slices. I think I liked meat pie #16 the best(had some kind of bbq sauce?), and their veggie options are really good too! The popular pesto pizza is also tasty, but there’s globs of goat cheese when I prefer it to be evenly distributed. I also think the diced tomatoes on whatever pizza makes the crust a little watery, but I’m really picky and actually really really love eating here.

Delicious thin crust. A variety of tasty selections and vegan/veggie friendly. The staff are the kindest, especially so to the kids that come in from the school across the street. I ordered pesto special and meat with a rootbeer cause i work as a school aide, but they also have beer on tap. Great place!

Walking in, was skeptical of those measly looking slices. We got slice of artichoke veggie, heirloom tomato veggie and kim’s pie. They all tasted good and their crust is good! Got kale-quinoa salad and it was tasty too. beers and wines available. Service was friendly and good. Super casual, so don’t expect any white linens. Or clean tables, even. Will definitely come back.

Pizza here is amazing!!! I think I’ve discovered a new passion for thin crust. I came here for lunch for the first time today and got two slices of pizza: Meat #4 — kim’s pie: roasted 100% natural chicken, portobello mushroom, caramelized onion, mozzarella, balsamic bbq sauce, chives Meat #6 — buffalo chicken: roasted 100% natural chicken, gorgonzola, buffalo dressing, celery, arugula, mozzarella They were both so so good. I’m usually not a big fan of pizza with bbq sauce, but I heard Meat #4 was a popular choice at Jules and decided to go with it, and I’m glad I did. The pizza is tasty but not too heavy because the crust is so thin. They also have tons of vegetarian options. Can’t wait to try them all. Tip: ask for the kids’ cut so they slice your pizza into more manageable portions.

Love this place for their gluten free options — the thin crust is perfect and none of that cardboard stuff that other gluten free places like to make. They have a great selection and the GF pizzas are cooked in a separate oven, so no need to worry about cross contamination if you’re sensitive. Additionally there is little wait whether calling in or at the store. I’ve never had to wait more than 15 min for my pizza. Plus the store itself has plenty of sit down room, and it’s a cool casual atmosphere that’s perfect for a weekday dinner or weekend lunch and would be a nice place to with a group and not too loud that it would also be nice for a date night.

I agree with some of the previous Unilocalers that the pizza looked better than it tasted. Jules has been on my list for quite some time and I finally came in today expecting to be blown away. The toppings were very tasty and well paired(I had the Kim’s Pie and Pesto special) but the actual crust/dough was very bland. I was expecting a nice crispy full flavored crust to match the gorgeous toppers and was pretty disappointed when I took a bite. That being said I’d probably come back because the price and overall taste were pretty decent. Also plus points to the overall trendy atmosphere and friendliness of the cashiers. The salads looked gorgeous as well, kale Brussels sprouts and beets? I’ll have to come back and try!

Not the most amazing pizza I’ve ever had, but pretty good. Lots of veggie options here; there’s an explicit vegan option on the menu, but all the veggie options can have daiya substituted. The medium pizza is just a bit too big to eat in one sitting by myself, but the paper it’s served on doubles as an easy take-home wrapper. There’s a limited selection of beer, but the choices aren’t too shabby. And it’s never been super crowded here — unlike the always packed Zachary’s across the road, which I don’t really care for. You can also park, if there’s room, in the underground parking for this complex — just watch out, the entry is particularly sharp, so go slow.

The«thin crust pizzas» look fresh. The cheese pizza was ok. I guess it’s more like flat bread and not really a thin crust pizza concept. Veggie#6: artichoke hearts, chopped organic tomatoes, arugula, garlic, mozzarella, fresh cubed mozzarella, gorgonzola, oregano The veggies tasted fresh but was lacking flavor. Cheese pizza was very plain. The tomato sauce didn’t really have any flavor. It tasted just like pureed tomatoes.

It’s no coincidence that Jules is a homonym of jewels. This place is a sparkling gem, and just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Rockridge BART station. My Instagram friend Sunny(@veganbeautyreview) posted a lovely photo of the vegan pizza and cupcake options, and I knew right away that this place was a winner. Aesthetically speaking, their pies are lovely. They look like something you might get at a fancy restaurant for many dollars more. Truthfully, I’ve never been a huge fan of thin crust. I usually go for a bit of thickness, if not the indulgence of a Chicago-style deep dish. Jules Thin Crust has officially converted me into a believer. I ordered the Summer Squash pizza. It was sprinkled with generous hunks of green and yellow squash, lined with red bell peppers, drizzled with olive oil, and dusted with a pinch of salt and pepper. It was sauceless, which I didn’t realize upon ordering. However, all of the veggies more than made up for this omission. I gobbled up half of the medium size and felt stuffed. I love that their prices are so incredibly reasonable. You can even order slices for $ 3.25, and then mix and match if you want to sample more of their wares. They are more than happy to veganize any of their veggie pizzas for you. The service was friendly, although some of the workers seemed a little tired. I like the fact that you pay at the counter and bus your own table. I hate the feeling of going to a busy restaurant and having to wave the waiter down to get a refill on water or(even worse) to simply pay the check. Need a box? Just go to the counter. If you like a lighter, healthier pizza, with organic and local ingredients, this is definitely your jam. They also offer a gluten-free crust, although that version is not vegan. I can’t wait for the fall, which no doubt will mark the return of the butternut squash.
