Killing time while wife in appointment. Had to check out this«hole in the wall»! Had tacos Al Pastor, awesome! Not a fancy place but taste great and not expensive.

Salsa pico de gallo and salsa verde are awesome. Just the right amount of kick to it and very fresh!

This place is great for a quick bite for lunch. The staff is very nice. They’ll make your sandwich anyway you like. Mexican food is excellent, try the«Al Pastor» in either a taco or burrito. Good selection of soups as well.

Cheap gross yucky food. Never returning. The salad was horrible… how hard is it to screw up a salad???

Quick food friendly service. Great hours. Tried going to a different restaurant nearby but they were closed. This place was open when I needed to grab a quick bite to eat.

This place gets 4 stars from me because it’s convenient, cheap, and fast. With this cold weather(for a Floridian at least) I always find myself craving just a bowl of soup. For about $ 2.50 and some change this craving gets satisfied. The clam chowder and lentil are my favorite! The sandwiches are huge for about $ 6 with tax. I agree with other reviewers, get it on the Dutch crunch. Friendly service and there’s usually no line so I can go in and out super quick and head back to class! $ 5 minimum credit card transactions.

This place is awesome! Just a lot of really tasty, inexpensive options. I had the eggplant parm, which came with garlic bread and salad. The eggplant had a great flavor, I loved the italian dressing, and it just was delightful. This is going to be a favorite place for me, I can tell.

large $ 6 sandwiches and not having to wait in long lunch hour lines is what keeps me coming back. I usually get the Chicken Salad on dutch crunch. There’s also Mexican food available. My classmates have said that the burritos are really good. They’ve got watermelon and(I think) cucumber mint juice as well.

Decent sandwich for decent price; and they got me in and out quickly. Nothing to write home about.

I come here all the time during my lunch hour. Haven’t tried the smoothies or breakfast items, but their sandwiches are tasty. I always get the soup/half sandwich combo that is decently filling(you won’t have leftovers, but you’ll be full) for only $ 6. They have a wide variety of sandwich options(hot, cold, deli meats, tuna/chicken/egg salad, meatballs, etc) as well as cheese, bread and soup options(I think there are maybe 12 soups to choose from?). The soups might store bought but they’re served piping hot. I always get the chicken+dumpling. The ladies who work there are incredibly friendly and patient. The atmosphere is spacious(even though the place is small) and clean. They really should think about changing the name. I walked past here so many times thinking it was a Jamba Juice-type place.

Came in here after walking around wondering what to eat for lunch today. Walk a little further down from cityhall and spotted JJ thinking the name must be healthy ingredients not in this case. The lady told me they only do smoothies no juice in here if you want juice they have minute maid, tree top. Okay you guys got me so since I’m here I’ll order something. I got a turkey sandwhich with all fixings included along with a piece of carrot cake(package). Sandwhich is okay had better the meat is kind of salty and looks between deli and process. The lettuce, tomatoes were fresh though bread seems whole wheat not flour pretty heavy per slice. The carrot square was overly sweet but not gonna hold that against them as they didn’t make it. Went back across city center hit up jamba juice for carrot/orange mixed juice. Went back cityhall sat on stairs to eat lunch. Should change name to lunch joint this way people will get an idea what’s in store. You guys really got me with JJ!

I go here ALL the time — probably 4 to 5 times a week. I work next door and frequently get either breakfast or lunch here… and on some days, both, especially when things are busy. The ladies that work here are really great. They know what they’re doing, and they’re nice, and they’re patient. Consequently there always seems to be a good vibe in the place.(I also appreciate that they’re willing to experiment and make off-menu items.) Recommended highly: The breakfast burrito with chorizo(as long as you’re not watching your calories), the lunch burritos(I like burritos, what can I say), and the smoothies(they are at least as good as the chain a few blocks away). I wasn’t too thrilled with the lasagna, but everything else is pretty good. My co-worker gets the chili all the time. If you’re right in the neighborhood, it’s a great choice.

This is a mexican deli and a nice surprise! I’ve gone here two days in a row for sandwiches and will be back to try everything else. I saw them making a burrito for someone and it looked delicious! I give 3 Stars for simple, fresh food, an extra star for good service, and a 5th star because of the great deals! Most items, with a side, are less than $ 10 bucks. The ladies are very sweet, too. They also cater. Gracias senoras!

Went today and got a tuna melt. So yummy and perfectly peppered. I’ve never gotten their tuna salad, but it was pretty good. I suggest asking them to hold the mayo and try it with honey mustard. Yum!

Main Points: — Great breakfast burritos — They let you add spinach or lettuce to your breakfast burrito — Some of the NICEST people ever — Quick and easy place for coffee — Cards need a charge of over $ 5, which is the price of a breakfast burrito and small coffee(breakfast of champions) Description: I come here very often. The people are are great and so friendly. The breakfast burritos are delicious and very affordable. Quick coffee too.

It’s actually pretty good. Thought I give this place a try since it’s close to work. Got the combo half italian sandwich(cotto, salami, mortadella & provolone on wheat slice w/lettuce, tomato, onions, vinegar, oil, mayo & mustard) and soup, clam chowder(small). Total $ 6.04. I was a penny short and the cashier was nice enough to take the 3 cents I had. Thanks. Customer service was good. It wasn’t much since it’s a half sandwich. But good enough to satisfy my taste buds and stomach. The clam chowder is also good. To me, the soup is better than SF Soup & Co for sure. Today was a misty, cold gloomy Friday and the clam chowder sure hits the spot! Will definitely be back… FYI, business hours is 7am — 3pm.

A gem. From the outside the Juice Joint looks a little sketchy, but I thought I would put my judgement aside and try is anyway. I’m glad I did. I had a sandwich that was fresh, juicy and delicious. I’ll definitely be back…

I was excited to try this place but was quickly disappointed and walked out when I was told they didn’t offer juice. Uh weird, especially when the name implies Juice Joint. I’ll rate my experience again when I’m looking for a breakfast burrito or a sandwich. Thanks for reading.

Their breakfast burrito with chorizo is dangerously good. I’m not kidding. it’s addictive. Get one, youl’ll want one every day. The salsa is frsh, the potatoes are tender, the chorizo is just spicy enough, and the cheese is totally yummy. Likewise, the Mexican specialties that they’re always offering for lunch are never-fail good. Especially the chicken quesedillas. Very solid sandwiches too. BLT with avo. Do it. Stay away from the soups. Huge bang for your buck here. One of my downtown oakland standbys.

All the wide eyed chefs at Xolo and Dona Tomas who are busy grinding blue corn and smashing pepitas for their overblown menus need to take a field trip to this unassuming place. Come at lunch time. Come and see these two cooks tirelessly and efficiently cook up hearty and delicious entrees like chile verde and chile colorado, wrap delicious burritos and dip some enchiladas —-all at a place that would seem like it’s really a juice bar. It isn’t. It’s like a small convenience store with juices, but at the same time it’s a small Mexican establishment with blue-plate type specials –a place to find the normal tacos and burritos, especially those breakfast burritos that hurried Oakland city workers pick up on their way to City Hall across the sidewalk – but it also has these meat dished prepared daily, The food I had was tasty –and cheap: $ 5 got me a heartry chile verde entrée, with rice and beans and three large flour tortillas. Not fancy at all. No dumb indications that ‘we don’t use lard’. This is «comida casera», food that is homemade. Needless to say I’ll be back.

Juice Joint looks more like a café, a diner than a juice joint. menu: soup, salad, burritos, sandwiches, smoothies(4, yep 4), coffee, breakfast. sampliing: italian combo on dutch crunch(5.20) no tax –an inch worth of mortadella, provolone, cotto, salami, italian salami, with lettuce, tomato, peto chiles, and mustard on dutch crunch bread. bursts of tastiness. very fulfilling. crumbs –some items may be canned, premade here –sandwiches a good value. –fast, friendly service by latinas.
