What’s wrong with you guys? How can this place get 5 stars! Are our expectations soooo depressed in the Bay Area? Mediocre food at super steep prices! 2 small bottled beers + 3 minuscule meatballs and a nanoscopic«burrata» salad with no more than 20 g of burrata costed me 44.33 $. This is madness! Good luck bay area!

ATTENTION**** Came by yesterday and found out that the restaurant DIDNOT close down but it was actually just renamed due to trademark issues(boo!). Food is still great, environment is the same, drinks are the same and décor is still on point. The workers are very friendly and I’ll definitely be back! Everything is exactly the same as the ‘ol Grange Hall :) Yay! NEWLINKHERE!!:

Crazy this place closed already, I just ate here the other night. I guess a new spot called«Black Water Station» is opening in its spot – guess Grange hall just wasn’t trendy enough for the gentrification movement that is Oakland right now. Anyways, the food is good, the service was decent and pretty quick. I got a burger here and though a little pricey, it was a solid burger. I’d tell you to stop by if you’re in the area but I can’t really speak to the new restaurant that’s taking its place, though I will have to try it myself soon. In the meantime, check out Clove and Hoof instead!

Disappointing compared to reviews. The website led me to believe full menu would be available Saturday at 9, but most of what other reviewers have mentioned wasn’t on the menu we saw, so maybe late-night menu already started? My companion was impressed with his steak and garlic fries. My burger, however, was dry and flavorless, on a bun lacking in flavor or texture. Mustard was also flavorless. The pickles were great, though. The peach salad had nice, fresh ingredients, but overall a lackluster combo with nothing really balancing out the sweet ingredients. The cocktail I ordered, no selfies allowed, was drowned in citrus that overpowered the more interesting ingredients. The restaurant has a nice layout, not too loud or too quiet. Dim lighting and interesting décor are solid pros. Prices are on point for the area, we were seated immediately on a Saturday, and servers were attentive. But nothing I tried was memorable, and the burger wasn’t even worth finishing.

Met a friend for dinner and drinks on a Monday night. Not too crowded but it had a decent crowd as we were leaving. We ordered pastrami friends(decadent but yummy), a lobster roll(rich, delicious, but pricey), and a side of broccolini(enjoyable enough but underwhelming). We each ordered a drink — daiquiri and rum punch — and both were good but nothing special. Bill ended up being about $ 65 pre-tip. Service was good but again, nothing special. So even though this place is an easy 15 min walk from me, I probably won’t go back. Nothing was wrong with the place — it just wasn’t compelling enough, so once I tried it once, there’s no real reason to go back.

Fun cocktails and friendly, yet inconsistent service. I came to this new Oakland stop with a large group of friends. The atmosphere is very Oakland-y hipster. The evening was off to a good start: the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the bartender was making us some tasty custom cocktails. For food, we tried the already famous pastrami fries, the chicken wings, and what I believe was some raw tuna on some chips. The pastrami fries were a favorite and the chicken wings were not bad. The tuna were by far the most disappointing, as cabbage didn’t make for a very interesting appetizer. Their burger was not bad, though other than the firmer than usual bun nothing really stood out about it. The onion rings were great and very tasty. Mostly everyone enjoyed their meal except my one friend whose order was seemingly forgotten and did not come to our table till after everyone else was done. Their was also an issue with a side order of broccolini, but once it came out it was surprisingly tasty. Overall, I had an enjoyable meal, but I would recommend Grange Hall for drinks and a snack over a full dinner. In my opinion, their menu is on the pricey end without fully delivering on its promise. I hope their menu continues to evolve, as there is certainly potential.

Big ups for being one of the few places being open late on a weeknight whereas most of the neighboring places seem to embrace the sleepytown way of life. C’mon guys, it’s Temescal — situated in the middle of it all! Service was on point and we immediately found a couple of drinks we immediately fell in love with. Namely, the owner’s grandfather’s drink — the William Messer — is now my favorite go-to drink. Two parts gin. One part whiskey. Stirred with this poppy oil. It’s downright amazing. On the other hand, we ordered some burgers and man, what a letdown. Dry. Spiceless. I think my two year old nephew could’ve done a better job. Beautifully crafted drinks and decent apps, yet an absolutely disappointing burger keeps it from a perfect Thursday night experience. Will return, but only for the cocktails.

I was quite disappointed after reading the good reviews. The burgers were small and lacked any seasoning. I miss Barlatta.

Went here a few months ago when they first opened. I sat at the bar and the service was great from bartender. I had a few cocktails and they were kind of eh. The bartender did try to make me one off the menu, but it still was just ok. I didn’t try any of their dinner items. However, I did have the pastrami fries, which were good.

So far a big fan of this place… it can get busy, but they are on top of things. I haven’t eaten much, but so far pretty amazing. Yeah for moving into Temescal! My only complaint was maybe a slightly better glass of wine selection. But they def have a stocked bar. so maybe I should have just gotten a negroni! Next time.

Lurve this place. Vintage glasses. Cool bartender. Good drinks. Beautiful wood. A ladder that calls for top shelf orders. I still need to try the food. But I see that happening soon. I had their rhubarb and strawberry crisp. So good!

New spot in Temescal in the old Barlata space on Telegraph. Overall was a positive experience due to the food — but the service could use some work. Sat down right away on Thursday night. Got the menu and drink menu, both looked interesting. Took close to 10 mins for a server to come take our order. That’s after the first server said someone would be with us, but realizing no one was around — she came back. Took another 15 – 20 mins for our water and my beer to get to the table. The food took a while at first, then it all came in one shot — semi-bad spacing. We got: — Pastrami fries — think about a solid Reuben minus the bread, over fries — SOLID. — Snap pea salad — which is basically just a regular salad with like 6 snap peas on it. But it was well dressed and fresh. — Fried softshell crab over corn salad. This was delicious… crab tasted great with a corn meal crust, and corn with lardons was fantastic — Lobster roll — also really good. Fresh main lobster, generous size and the bun was great. Overall the food was tasty and worthwhile. If they can iron out the kinks with service, this place could be poppin.

Grange Hall is open and ready for service. In the old Barlata location, it’s fixed up with a rustic contemporary feel with a smart looking bar. I’m a tea toting kinda person, so I can’t really rate the huge array of cocktails and drinks, but I can say they look mighty tasty. What I can say is my gang thought the food was very yummy. We tried many things. Onion rings(crispy with a nice Dijon dip) Pastrami fries(loved these, but made me wish they served poutine too) Lobster roll(so good, but a bit pricey. Burger was juicy too. The service was friendly.

I came out here to check out this new classy restaurant bar. It really shines in the drinks they offer. I highly recommend the William Messer, Old Fashioned, and No Selfies. The burgers paired well with the drinks. I would definitely come here again! Please see my SLR pictures for samples of the food and drinks I got.

Great new addition to Temescal. Warm atmosphere, super welcoming and hospitable staff, excellent cocktails and really solid food(at least the burger is delicious, haven’t tried anything else). One of my favorite cocktails is the Vieux Carré, which I was hesitant about ordering since I didn’t want to be that guy who asks for a somewhat-obscure cocktail that isn’t on the menu. The bartender cheerily replied that he could make it, and it was delicious. They also made me one of the owner’s favorites, called the Fourth Regiment, which was like a sazerac with celery bitters, also not on the menu. I highly recommend Grange Hall! Welcome to the neighborhood.

Time: 6:24pm/63°F sunny Purpose: I’ve been eyeing the place went since Barlata close. With info coming in each week all eyes was on Grange Hall. Place has ties to Kushido across the street too. Ambiance: Mostly wooden paneling throughout the place. Seven person bar seater looking straight ahead of the crafty wooden honeycomb shelving. No shortage of decorations here or anything kitschy. The place is a 36 person seater not counting the bar. Dining area starts with a nine tables line against wall with wooden highback bench from front to back. Three tables place in center set up for two and one communal set up for six. Two 5ft wooden counter seaters sits three on each. Couple of black/white frame pictures and wine bottles for deco above the kitchen area. Wooden structure beams with T-shape brackets for reinforcement. Lights are unique in a way encased filament bulbs with adjustable arms. Place is loud especially when its a full house. Music playing when I was in, Total Life Forever by Foals, almost near bomb loudness. Staff: I saw about 9 to 10 employees from front to back of house workers. Very friendly host as I was greeted right away and asked where would I like to sit. No push for me to get pricey items even gave me time to look things over. Checking up on me every 5 minutes or so to make sure I was okay. Water glass was filled whenever it drops below 30% level. Not just my waitress, a look around revels others were doing the same too, totally attentive. Cleanliness: Grade A+, immaculate clean throughout the place. Can’t find one single thing to complain about even if I wanted to, that’s how clean it was. Eats/Drinks: Grange burger $ 11 and chicken wings 8pcs/$ 5(not a misprint). Burger was delicious, I asked for it to be medium it came out just what I asked for. Buns are not the store bought color coated break away with sesame version. Patty was just right not under or over seasoned as the artisan cheese melted accordingly. It was a good burger even better if I ask for the buns to be light toasted though. My fault for not asking, wasn’t on my mind at the time. Had a choice of fries or house salad, I went with fries. Fries were just fries, but house cut with attached skins. Couple slices of sweet pickles, didn’t use just ate a piece or so. Wings were nice and hot came 8pcs to an order. Thought it was a good deal till I received them. Size was like a teaser, it’ll take two to make up for one wing. Choice of original buffalo or pineapple/bacon bits tangy sauce. Went with pineapple/bacon wanted a change from original. Sauce was clear sweet and sour consistency like with real pieces of bacon. Really like that slight crunch on the skin edges brings out true way of eating wings. Main Features: Grange burger, snap pea salad, steak & fries, house cut fries. Products/Services: Duck meatballs, pastrami fries, chicken wings, shrimp cocktail, burger, lobster salad roll, steak, scallops, onion rings, fries, lemon tart, rhubarb, ice cream/gelato. Draft/bottle/canned beers, red/white wines, sake & shochu. Punch Lines: Hip and happening, better than your average, décor leaves something to desired, pleasing flavors, modest cost, drool-worthy, well executed, easy night out, always buzzing, wood paneling, gracious host, light bites, lively atmosphere, loud and busy, can’t go wrong, no slum dog, casual and delicious, a twist on traditional favorites, after work drinks and appetizers, industrial interior, crowd pleasing, is the place to be. Tradeoffs: Great food at a reasonable price, but not family oriented as much. Final Thoughts: I enjoy my evening at GH with a festive night ahead. I wanted to try other dishes and apps, but needed room for later on. Haven’t had this kind of service in a while so, for this to happen ending the work week puts a happy face on me. Will definitely be back again for the alcoholic drinks.

Grange Hall is finally open(on my 3rd try). no lights on. door was unlocked. no notices on windows so i barged in and asked were they open? yep. menu: very short, burgers, steaks, maine lobster et al. and«starters» the alcohol here is the star.(full bar), some drafts, some wine. anyone who knows me wouldn’t believe me that i didn’t drink an ounce of alcohol. tempting, yes. eats: «grange burger»(11) choice of salad or fries, not listed -«6 oz short rib, sirloin, brisket w/lettuce, tomato, red onion, organic spring roll on acme style bread» –definitely red meat showing, a little juicy, obviously mostly lean meat –got dijon mustard, not grey poupon but this dijon ROCKS! –salad had tomatos, tasty greens. kosher pickles fab too. take outs: –associates here so low key, FAB! no airs(unlike other nearby eateries) –not a fan of the set up, too casual, but i luv the ambience here so it’s cool. –yeah, slightly pricey, but worth every penny. noticed big macs almost 5 now… 5 stars to the MAX!

Man, I love the vibes I get from this place and the fact that when you step in it kind of feels like you’re in a whole other city! I really dig the big open windows and illuminated natural wood bar top, super chill space to bring a buddy after work or lover on the weekend. In the heart of good ol Temescal I’m happy Grange Hall is bringing some style and flare to their food and drinks with a warm ambiance and pleasant staff to match. The drinks here are bright and boozy, perfect. They even make their own coke elixir for a nice twist on the jack and coke. The bartender was very attentive and pretty darn knowledgable about her liquor. She even designed a cool liqueur & aromatized wine flow chart on the back of the drink menu to shed some light into nuances of today’s mixology. I was rather impressed. To drink I got the«no selfies allowed» which was right up my alley with smooth brandy and nice citrus. But the true winner was the RUMPUNCH! I could drink that all night. The food here is damn good too. The duck meatballs were really juicy and satisfying and the pork belly with the hashbrown cake compliment each other well. And for someone who doesn’t prefer asparagus I think that was my favorite part of the dinner. Of course adding bacon to it helps it’s case but I appreciate the details and freshness in their food items. Can’t wait to go back here and try the burger and I’ll definitely be back for the punch!

JESUSMOSESTHISPLACEISGOOD. Delicious cocktails, *incredible* food. Just went to the grand opening and the food is top notch – best meal I’ve had at a restaurant in this neighborhood. New fave. The drinks are bomb too(clever naming, my friend got the«no selfies allowed.») The chicken wings(with some kind of bacon pineapple glaze) were my all time favorite, the bomb dot com, BEST wings I’ve ever had. The burger was SO freaking good juice literally dripping from the meat. crazy good! WILLBEBACKFORSURE. Should also mention: excellent service, excellent waiter and hostess. solid all around! Makes me almost wish I lived in Temescal.
