They took the money and ran. I’m working on a $ 240 refund.

I was spontaneously on Piedmont Ave, walked into Piedmont Spring — no last minute availability of course, so I was wandering up the street and found this place. The people who work here are very talented at knowing how to break down tissue adhesions. This is great tui na style massage(closer to deep tissue, far from swedish esalen style).

I had gone into Piedmont because I needed to send a fax. I was wandering around trying to fill my blah day with a little excitement. I had been thinking about getting a foot reflexology massage for a while and then just happened to stumble upon this place. The outside was appealing without being swanky. Inside was also very chill. Jessica, the owner, was very good at knowing that I really wanted that massage and all the things I was saying were just excuses as to why I didn’t deserve to pamper myself. Needless to say, it was the best money I have spent in a while… the massuse really knew her accupressure points and by the end of it, my spirits were lifted, my body felt great, and I knew the detoxing massage was really going to help me sleep! Thanks!!!

I love getting massages. But not those Swiss massages with oil, which is for people with money and time to kill, in my opinion. I don’t need help to relax… I need these knots in my backs to disappear! Like now!!! The massages I love are the ones that can actually make a difference in your body. Like the ones that hurt a little maybe. So, I finally found this spot in N. Cali and now I am a regular. That’s right. This is a no spa. No frills! Ask for Fong… She is THEONE. She took the blue pill. Or the red pill? Pink? Anyways she will hurt you, and you will think, god, why am I doing this to myself again??? But the next day you will feel so much better. Make sure to drink lots of water and sleep all day if you can. If you are not too fond of good quality pain, go for their foot massage. It doesn’t hurt as much. They actually do whole body massage, just with focus on your feet. Even with less pain, your feet will feel great afterwards.

I woke up with a CRAZY«crink in the neck» on Thursday morning. I have had these things before and they suck beyond belief. This time I had to try something new to get rid of it. Usually nothing works. except rest and 4 or 5 days of pain. I looked up this spot on google and called in and made an appointment for 12 noon. drove over there and was greeted by FENG. the lady who runs the spot I assume. She FUCKED my neck and back UP. for 75 minutes. it was the most Painful massage I have ever had in my life. I was yelling and crying out almost the whole time. she worked out so many huge knots in my shoulder which she said was the cause of my neck pain. my whole back was purple and red, and the rest of the day I was in pain and couldn’t really support my neck without help from my girlfriend. I pretty much went home and went to bed. but the next day when i woke up I felt beter then i had ever felt on Day 2 of having a «crink in the neck». even though it hurt like hell it was worth it. im thinking that by day three im going to be almost back to normal who knows that Chinese shit really works. them fools have Health figured out. been doing it for 5000 years. western medicine aint got shit on Chinese medicine. Real talk holla back Feng!!! yeeee

There’s not a lot of this style around in the Bay Area. These folks are a lot like Qi Gong massage. They care about your health. Sparkling clean décor, friendly people. They know what they are doing. They always seem happy to see us and we just wander in.

I am detoxing and needed to get reflexology on my feet to move the process quicker. This place is the closest to my house and since the two other reviews were decent, I said why not?! I walked in and the lady immediately said, «Table or Chair?» Being use to this manner of customer service at hole– in– the wall massage places in Asia, I knew what she was getting at; do I want my body massage or my feet. I explained I would like both, but I really needed reflexology on my feet and not a massage. She led me upstairs to start on my back first. She told me to undress and the weird part, she just stood there waiting. Awkward! The massage was great. If you want a deep tissue massage without the deep tissue price, come here and see Fang. When she was done we went downstairs. She soaked my feet in an herbal bath and massages my arms and hands. During this time, the stylist from the salon below came up to deal with a customer and yes, like Su mentioned before, that chemical smell came with her. Also, another customer kept knocking on the door and Fang would leave me to answer the door. It was a bit annoying. The one thing I was really bummed out about, she didn’t do real reflexology on my feet, she just rubbed them, didn’t even really massage them. Maybe she was over it by then, cause everything else was spot on. It’s cheap and I will probably go back and ask for the feet first.

Okay, as a connoisseur of foot massage/reflexology, I love this place! The treatments are extremely affordable and effective. True reflexology is not for those who are afraid of a little discomfort; have a foot massage in Asia and you will think these guys are gentle. All of the reflexology points in the feet are treated as well as acupressure points on your head, legs, etc. I love the fact that you get a lovely foot soak prior to the reflexology and the scalp massage that happens while they soak is pure bliss! The massages are $ 1/minute…I have had both the 30& the 60 minute treatments and while I truly enjoyed the longer massage I felt that the 30 minute treatment hit all of the right spots. Go for brunch at Park Avenue Bar & Grill and then treat yourself to foot heaven!

I think this place has gotten better since the first few times I’ve been here. I purchased a package of six massages when they first opened and I completed my last one this week. I’m not really sure how much it cost since I bought it at a special price. It is definately cheaper than a day spa. Its not fancy at all, but it feels pretty good during and after. I guess it can be hit or miss. Sometimes the massage would hurt so bad that I can’t wait for it to be over and sometimes I wish it wouldn’t end. With the Foot Massage, you sit on this reclined chair facing up. Your feet is soaked in a bucket of hot water. They start massaging your head, then your neck and shoulders. Eventually they massage your feet and legs. Then you flip over and they put this heating pad around your neck and start massaging your back and legs. I’m assuming they washed their hands prior to that. It might be a little strange if you’ve never done anything like this since its completely different from other spas. In fact I thought it was weird the first time I did it, but I keep coming back.

Update 4 stars: 12÷5÷2008 I went back. They forgot to give me tea. I asked for tea, and they apologized. I think they are friends with the downstairs hair salon«Image 88» or maybe they are owned by the same people. When we walked in, Jessica, the Image 88’s stylist, was there hanging out. The reflexology room was filled with a strong hair chemical smell. Yuck! The treatment itself was as satisfying as the last time, but the smell ruined it for me a little bit. I will go back, but if the smell is there again, I may reconsider. Original 5 stars: 11/16/2008 This place opened in September. I’ve been thinking about trying this place out, and I finally did it. Wow, why didn’t I come here earlier!!! I got the 60 min. Foot/Full Body treatment. Keep in mind that this place is a little funky = it’s not a fancy spa. There is a big room with 6 recliners. There are 2 therapists(man and woman). I had the female therapist whose name was Fong. I went with my husband, so we were getting treatments side by side. The ceiling is painted to resemble the sky, but it’s not done very well. What I’m getting at is. .. the décor tells you that they tried to make the place spa-like with a shoe string budget. The treatment itself goes like this: — You’re greeted with a cup of tea. — Your feet are soaked in a wooden tub of herbal warm water. — The therapist starts with your head, then to shoulder and arm, legs and feet. And then you flip over, so they can work on your back. Good: $ 1/min. It’s very affordable. The style is something that I grew up with(I grew up in Asia). It’s a mix of shiatsu/annma/deep tissue. I like that you don’t have to pay extra for added pressure. I have really tight shoulders, and the therapist made it her personal mission to get the knot out. I like supporting hard working immigrants. They don’t speak much English, but they are very friendly. Bad: I really appreciated the fact that the therapist wanted to get my knots out. The pain was a bit too much for me, so I told her it hurt. She said, «I know». I think she has the same philosophy as my mom. It is supposed to hurt, suck it up, you will feel better later. My shoulder feels tender but I do feel good now. They don’t pay much attention to your back, but your feet are very well massaged. Décor is chincy, and you may be getting massaged next to a stranger. The recliner isn’t super comfortable. I saw 2 private rooms upstairs with massage beds, so I wonder if they give the same treatment but in a private room, if requested. I will have to ask about it next time. At an incredibly affordable price, I will be frequenting this place! I am so glad this place is in our neighborhood and I hope they stay in business!
