My first ever Unilocal review and it is a negative one. The ice cream may be phenomemal. This review is for lack of service. Place looks open, but the only employee has decided to leave for 30 minutes and scrawl something about being on break on a paper plate. People are standing around wondering where everyone/anyone is. Probably not the employee’s fault, but management needs to solve this. Sorry for the negativity. Positive review coming soon, I promise.

Unilocal really needs a zero star rating! Didn’t get a chance to actually taste the ice cream. Rude and incompetent woman working there told me all the flavors had gluten, non of their ice cream apparently is gluten free. WTF? What kind of creamery, a, adds gluten to flavors that don’t need it, and(b) employs idiots who can’t help paying customers.

Take the time to visit the original location on Piedmont Ave. Or the one in Vacaville(Nut Tree). Obscenely over priced for the portion size. Portions are less than half of what one gets at Actual Fentons creamery… oh yeah the service sucks here too! Very disappointing!

When all the fentons employees go on break at the same time so they can gossip. The thicker Hispanic lady working there is super rude. If I could give 0 stars I would

I can’t comment on the quality of the ice cream because I wasn’t able to actually try any. We waited for over 15 minutes, and no employee ever appeared. They were definitely supposed to have been open. It was about 1:00 on a Wednesday.

I just stopped by the location at the Oakland Airport. The associate working was beyond RUDE. I had to walk away… purchasing nothing. I asked for a sample. She gave me one. Then I asked what the flavor was of a different one. She replied… the sign is in the front. That wasn’t my question! If I could read her sloppy writing… then I wouldn’t be asking. I couldn’t even believe it! People these days don’t understand the concept of customer service.

Like all airport vendors, this location is pricey, and I wouldn’t normally leave a review for this type of place but I wanted to recognize the amazing customer service of the woman who served us tonight, right as they were closing. The ice cream itself was delicious … very high quality. Thank you for a great experience.

I’m rating this Fenton’s outlet better than the original location on Piedmont Ave. in Oakland, cause hey it’s at the Oakland Airport, and that’s gotta count for something. I fly out of Oakland here quite often for business or back up to Reno for work and it’s nice to have a better selection of food and treats at the airport. If I’m early, I may get just one scoop of ice cream, well, just because. They scoops are generous. They have all the other normal ice cream shop desserts here as well, like sundaes, floats and splits. The food selection is not as extensive as the mother store. It’s an OK place to have at the airport, although I do prefer 3 Twins Ice Cream better, but here at an airport, beggars can;t be choosers!

I love Fenton’s but this rating is because it’s 4:30 on a Saturday and the terminal location is already closed. Totally unacceptable.

It’s not even 7:30pm and they are closed. In a food court in an airport terminal where literally every other business is still open. No one behind the counter and no ice cream in the display so it looks like they have already been closed for a while. This is a dessert place; that’s just unacceptable.

Definitely a must try when in the Bay Area! My boyfriend & I were fortunate to find this gem in the Oakland Airport & wanted to try it because of the superb reviews its sister location in Oakland has! We ordered: Coffee Cookie Dream — OMG! What a treat! This taste just like a mud pie with surprise cookie dough pieces intertwined. Mint Chocolate Chip — A simple classic that is made just right here.

I was disappointed at the quality of the ice cream here at the terminal. I got a scoop of mint chocolate chip($ 7) and I’m not sure if it was because they had just reopened this location in its new spot or that the ice cream wasn’t stored properly, but the scoop I got tasted icy, gritty, and a bit old. I had a better experience at the actual creamery, so it may have been how the ice cream was stored at the airport that made the difference. As if it could have melted a bit, refrozen, then stirred up. It’s a hefty price already for a single scoop, hoping this isn’t the case of all the ice cream. Would avoid getting ice cream here, go to the actual creamery if all possible.

Our flight was delayed for a day and hawaiian airlines gave us food credit so we went to Fentons and enjoyed a milkshake and some ice cream. The milkshake was thick and creamy. Pretty good. Ice cream was too sweet for my taste.

It is a 100 on the scale of 10. I tried their ice cream a while back when I was living in Oakland. I saw someone was eating ice cream today in the airport and walked the entire airport to find it. I walked by it first time and have to ask someone. I finally found it. It is next to gate 25. When I saw the brand name, I immediately remember this is the famous ice cream from Oakland. I tried a few favors and settled with strawberry frozen yogurt and vanilla. I forgot that their vanilla is one of their best. The ice cream guy suggests it after I tried rainbow and strawberry ice cream and didn’t like either. I have strawberry frozen yogurt on the top and vanilla at the bottom. They are great combination. I am going to take my husband to their original store in Oakland next time when he picks me up from the airport. I just wish that their store is outside and my husband and I could have had this great ice cream together!

This review is for the ICECREAM! What can I say, this place is PERFECT! The ice cream is always good. I always order the strawberry cheesecake ice cream but last night I decided to share a sundae with my boyfriend. We ordered the Cookie Machine or something named like that. We replaced the Cookie Dough flavor with banana nut instead. I’m sure it would’ve been great with the original combo but we are happy to have tried such an amazing flavor! Fenton’s is never too sweet. It’s also wonderful to find an ice cream that is thick enough to not melt after a few minutes. Fenton’s is just a wonderful place to visit. I can see why it ended up on the food network :)

Coffee cookie dream. Heavenly. So many cookie bits. One scoop = $ 7.25. Pricey but worth the expense. Not much else to say but to stop by even if you’re full from subway or burger next door.

This is not a review of the food(mediocre), but for the ice cream, to be clear. My main motive in my pilgrimages to Fenton’s is the sundaes, which is how you do the Fenton’s experience right. I’m an ice cream lover who’s had a lot of ice creams over my life, and Fenton’s has adequately amazing, creamy ice cream. (+) Toasted Almond! No matter if you order a sundae or just a scoop, make sure one of those scoops is toasted almond. (+) Banana Special– a giant classic banana split with 3 giant scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry(you can swap out at least one of the flavors). (+) Saddleback Brownie– brownie, chocolate and vanilla ice creams, literally swimming in hot fudge– I recommend this to chocolate lovers.

A nice treat before leaving the Bay Area. I was early for my flight, so I was happy to stumble upon this gem in the Southwest terminal. Flavors are limited, but they have the staples. $ 6 a scoop, but it was worth every penny!

My friends and I came here after going to the bar for some ice cream and fries. It is super PACKED on Saturday nights, and the wait for a table was about 20 minutes. When we finally got a table, we ordered a make your own sundae. I’m not sure why, but we thought it was a good idea to get the jumbo size for 2 people. The jumbo size allows you to pick up to 4 flavors of ice cream and 4 toppings. We got coffee, mint chip, rocky road, and mocha almond fudge as the ice cream flavors with marshmallow, fudge, and jersey as the toppings. The scoops of ice cream are HUGE! I absolutely LOVED the coffee. The coffee taste was strong. The mint was also pretty good although I felt like it overpowered the other flavors because it was that minty. Needless to say, we did not finish the sundae and had to take it home. We did order fries too. They were very fresh and hot! I almost burned my tongue, so be careful if you order it! We also had to add our own salt and pepper since it came out pretty bland. The service was GREAT for such a busy night. I was looking a bit red from the bar, so the guy brought an extra water for me. So thoughtful!

We were walking around the airport and I was SOoOoOO excited to see that they had a mini Fenton’s right by our gate. Their menu isn’t as comprehensive as their main location but they do sell their chocolate fudge by the mason jar. I have never been to Fenton’s and since it is so out of the way for me, I have never ventured to try it out. The lady seemed bored and not as enthusiastic as I was about the ice cream and I think that’s what already put a negative thoughts in my head. We went with plain vanilla ice cream sundae with hot fudge. It was good but I wouldn’t say the best. They do give large scoops though. Since I was not impressed, I wanted to go to the original location even more(that review coming soon).
