Terrible place — outdated communist era food. More Russian than Euro!

Great grocery store to get russian style deli and other things expats love to have once in a while. Friendly, chatty staff will be happy to help you with questions and advise. The prices are a little high on some things, but overall we greatly enjoyed our visit and will be back for sure.

Wow… the owners of Euromix go out of their way to get a fantastic mix of food and beer from a staggering number countries in Eastern Europe. I went there because I was looking for Polish beer, and I left with beer from Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and some Georgian soda, German and Lithuanian rye bread, and 2 varieties of perogi and Kinder eggs! They must use a different importer than BevMo, because all this Euromix beer, even in clear and green bottles was really fresh. What a score! The ladies running the shop were super sweet, snuck in a few freebies, and fetched me every Polish beer in the place. It’s a hidden gem. I can hardly wait to go back!

Time: 12:15pm/60°F cloudy Purpose: Remember this shop right next to a Thai restaurant that I had patronize couple of months back. I came before, but didn’t have time to look things over. Set-up: All Russian related goods with some American toss in for good measure. Standard grocery store look with, full size refrigerators/freezers. Plenty of mirrors and shelves loaded with imported items. Some areas even sells jewelry, costumes, gift sets, clothing articles. Everything from candies to top of the line Russian beer/wine. In short, anything hard to get Russian made goods you can find here. Staff: Older late 50s lady with heavy accent. Came towards me like she hasn’t seen me in ages. First she said, do you need help? I answer no just browsing. She ask if I like candies? I said it depends. She opens bags of candies for me to try. Told her not necessary as I may not make a purchase. Next she picks up a Snickers bar told me at $ 2.39 it was a good deal. Shoot, this lady must be nuts! I go down the street to CVS and buy me 3/$ 1.29 on sale. Why would I buy one at that price? Let alone, its not even king size bar? She started to pick up imported chocolate wanting me to try. This time I said no. She went on blabbing this and that. I wanted to leave feeling uncomfortable. Cleanliness: Grade A, clean shop no complaints. Everything nice and tidy, well organized. Those bags of Santher’s candies $.59 a bag or 2/$ 1 got beat up from sun rays. Now instead of orange/yellow packaging its off whitish, marshmallow circus peanut candies looks disintegrated. This alone tells me shes a hoarder don’t want to waste, but don’t care if you buy bad candies. Bagging It: Bottle of Parabola Russian Stout 13% ABV $ 16.99. Some places goes for $ 21+ for bottle. I thought is was pricey, but after initial research it was a bargain. Smooth, dark, rich had hints of espresso and tobacco aroma. Some char oak taste not a whole lot. Half a glass with have you tipsy be careful. Main Features: Piroshkis of assorted frozen version. Ready to bake. Products/Services: Perogie, piroshki, varenikis, sulguni, Bulgarian cheese, vodkas, tarkhun, caviar, matreshka chocolate, babushka stolichnaya, alioka candies, frutonyanya juice, nastyusha wheat, frutik citrus, yelli pea cream, DiYes almond cookie, Mr. Ricco, darnitsky bread, nikolaygrey bread, tea basilur, stokros cocoa, tchibo imported coffee, korovka wafers, beer/wines etc. Punch Lines: Expensive, harried clerk, pushing sales tactics, budget watchers, friendly, import goods, hard to find, clean, fully stock beer/wine, pretentious, no bargains, not much foot traffic, past due shelf life, street parking(easy), school, cafes/restaurant, theater, hospital, residential/business. Tradeoffs: Shop that specialize in Russian goods, but american goods are price at same level as imported ones. Final Thoughts: Good place to shop for a Russian friend or exchange student. That’s if you have deep pockets. Lady told me all the students across the street come to her store and buy $ 2.39 american company candy bars. Ok, if they do, their parents must have six figure incomes or the kids are confined to one block never get to see other neighborhood shops. Come on lady, quit playing mind games!

Went here looking for a snack because I can’t resist foreign treats. Usually my experience has been a decent one, but I was flat out lied to one time. The women seem nice enough and I was looking through the food and I wanted something. I noticed, however, that the expiration date was yesterday. I asked about it and the lady said that Russia has different expiration dates, and that that date is actually the date they shipped it out. I’m a trusting person so I went ahead and bought like 4 – 5 of them. When I got home and ate one, it was stale. Maybe Russia really does things like that, but I was not happy they were all stale. I guess I shouldn’t have bought so many.

Good pierogies! Ladies working there were nice enough. I was thrilled to find pierogies and other Eastern European foods(like real kielbasa!) in the East Bay. The ‘rogies are frozen and not homemade but finding them near my house is all a second generation Polish girl can ask for! Pleasant experience– will definitely be going back for more pierogies for the next holiday.

Great grocery store! It carries pretty much any kind of Eastern European food I would want, and the owners are happy to help with anything they don’t have. Yes, they are friendly and eager to up-sell, but I can often shop quietly until I’m ready to pay. When I buy a lot, they often even throw in a sweet for free, which is nice! Great local place to get Russian food.

Walking into Euromix Deli/Store feels like entering your Russian grandmother’s kitchen. Not only is it filled from floor to ceiling with mainly Eastern European delicacies like smoked and dried fish, sausages and other meats but there is a wonderful assortment of pickles(try The Polish), rye breads and all things sweet. Bundle this up with a dose of their motherly hospitality and it makes for great shopping!

I shop here because it’s one of the only places I know in the east bay to get the treats I like, but I totally agree with some of the reviews regarding the customer service. Definitely very heavy handed. They will follow you around the store to recommend products to you, but I find this approach counter-productive. I’m not sure if they are doing it for the sake of customer service but it feels like they are trying to make sure that I don’t steal anything. Also a lot of the prices are not marked on the items, which makes me feel like I’m being suckered when I ask how much it costs. Or that I’m being judged as cheap if I don’t buy after hearing the price. Furthermore, if the price is marked, make sure that the price you pay at the register is the same that is marked. I’ve caught them a few times charging more at the register than the price says on the shelf.

Sweet owners who sell of a lot of interesting European(mostly Eastern European) goods. Prices are reasonable and great items to explore. They also have a freezer section for frozen items. Very cute place.

Euromix, as their own signage outside states, does not f around! This delightful little shop is sandwiched next to an Ethiopian and a Japanese restaurant, which is good since it’s in a bad location for foot traffic near the upper end of Piedmont. The gals who run the shop are friendly and very willing to give recommendations about their wares. They carry mostly Eastern European foods, beverages, and accoutrements. They have Russian breads and pastries from Cinderella in the city, beers from most of the former Eastern Bloc countries, canned pickled things of all stripes, and candies of many varieties. The frozen coolers are stocked with pelmeni, pierogi, and piroshki. All I can say to this place is, DADADA!!!

The rating is going down and it is not due to the products, they are still great. The owners really get annoying over time. During my first few visits, their behavior was kind of funny, though cringeworthy. Now I catch myself not going in there when I have a bad day, because they will depress me even further. Last time, the younger of the two was literally standing one foot behind me during the entire time I was in the shop, chatting constantly about various products. Whenever I put something in my basket, she had to comment on the product an pointed out something else, that would go perfectly with it. Or even physically hand me an other, more expensive product, which was SO much better. Even me telling her several times that I know what I want and«thank you very much, but no thank you» didn’t help to get her off my back.

I was introduced to Natasha and Lisa, owners of the store, by my friends. This store has everything I need for every day table and for special occasions. There are any kinds of European food. I cannot live without rye bread which is not so easy to find in the USA. Natasha always holds couple loafs for me as it comes on Tuesdays. Russian natural sour cream, vines, cakes and sausages are really delicious for any occasions. Beside of that you can buy handmade Russian souvenirs in the store. Welcoming atmosphere created by owners, a lot of helpful information about health, housing, and services around from Natasha and Lisa made this store small Homeland of Europeans. My foreign friends like to go there too for«exotic» food to surprise their guests.

I have been shopping here for almost six years since I discovered this store. It was quite a find! I will always remember my first visit here and warm welcoming of Natasha and Lisa. They gave me a tour around the store and even let me taste different things for free. Needless to say that I left this place with warm feelings and… two heavy bags! ;-))) This family owned store contains amazingly wide variety of foods from all over Europe… everything fresh and really«delicatessen». Natasha and Lisa created here a great friendly«homy» atmosphere, so people come over not only to buy their favorites but also ask for a wise piece of advice, for help with their issues, or for just a chat. Like 6 years ago, in the same warm and friendly way they keep on greeting all newcomers who recently moved to this area and discovered their establishment. Oh, yes… if you happened to need a cake for any occasion, whether it’s a birthday or a wedding celebration, come straightly here with no hesitation! My experience was great: I ordered here a few super delicious and beautiful birthday cakes, and Natasha helped me to choose their sizes, designs, and types. Natasha’s ideas for cake decorations have always been incredibly creative, just like in everything she does. She is also a great cook, so the ideas are constantly in the air! It has always been a pleasure for me to come over here, and I sincerely very highly recommend this place with a great confidence to everybody. Seriously, why to go into details: come today and explore your own Euromix Delicatessen! And one more great news for sure: lately they started working Sundays from 11 to 5!!!

«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» — exactly what i was going to say) Was surprised to find a store with such a big variety of Eastern European food in Oakland. Stuff if super nice. Just being there makes me feel good. Was amazed by assortment of russian-language press. They even have newspaper«Kstati» and magazine«Fact» and price is a lot lower than if you subscribe. Will definitely go there again.
