By far the way to go if you’re thinking to book a taquero. It’s a family business and nothing I love more than helping out family. Not only was the food delicious but the service was perfect! They were very friendly and professional. The process was very smooth and they cleaned up when they were done. I had left overs for a week! 5 stars! Mauricio was very helpful in translating for his mother and it was an overall great experience. Thank you for the best birthday my husband could ask for :)

I recently went to an event that was catered by El Taquero and the food was truly delicious and not at all greasy or salty. I can’t speak about the cost, but it sounds like it was reasonable and the service was very professional and friendly. They warmed the tortillas before piling on deliciously seasoned and juicy meat. You could then top your tacos with some of the best salsa I’ve ever had, freshly chopped cilantro and pungent raw onions. Simple, but so tasty, and the smells were tantalizing. The beans, rice and potato salad were all excellent as well. They also run a DJ service and said they offer a good package deal if both services are used. I haven’t verified this, but just wanted to throw that out there incase anyone wanted to inquire more.

We used El Taquero a few weeks ago for our rehearsal dinner in Berkeley. We selected them without tasting their food, based on the few reviews that they have on Unilocal.Everyone in our family(all originating from South America) were blown away by how tasty the food was. The value for money is outstanding, we had tones of food left that kept us going for days afterwards, and the staff are lovely and friendly. We met with the owner several weeks prior to the event to look at the space, make final menu selections and pay the deposit. They were a little late on the the day, but the food was still served right on time. Even my father who does not like Mexican food went back for 3 more tacos on round two!!! I would hire them again in a heartbeat, and wish that I could eat their food every week.

Ting is so right about the pleasant surprise. I can honestly say what a pleasant feast for the eyes, nose and smell all of the food was! What a cool looking addition to the party. I went back for seconds and thirds. They didn’t have the tamales and chile rellenos so I can’t speak to those, but great beef, chicken and pork for their tacos and burritos and I acn make them as mellow as I liked, so that was cool. Mauricio was great and crew was very nice too. I’d definitely recommend them heartily for anyone that wants something different(and better!) at their party. This was in SF and I know they’re from the Oakland area… hope they would also go down to the South Bay if it’s worth it for them.

i was hired to photograph a wedding that took place yesterday afternoon. gorgeous day in tiburon. outdoor ceremony and reception. w/food catered by el taquero! i didn’t get my hopes up, as mexican eateries have let me down in the past. but, once i reached the table full of food, i couldn’t help but get excited at the prospect of my search for amazing mexican food coming to an end. i loaded up my plate w/: — salad — tortillas — chips — tamale — enchilada — chile relleno — rice …i always worry about entrees that are cooked in large batches. i assume that the quality is sacrificed for speed and quantity. …let’s just say that i honestly must’ve looked like i’ve been living in a cave given my ferocious attack of my heavenly plate. everything tasted like i was invited over for dinner at someone’s house — — homemade deliciousness! my tamale was unfortunately not as moist as i would’ve liked it to be, but i’m chalking that up to the fact that i snagged the last one. i sadly missed out on the amazing looking tacos, as i filled myself up w/everything else. what do they generally serve? well, on their business card, they list: pollo, carnitas, asada, cabeza, chorizo, pastor, buche, suadero, cahete, lengua, tripa, adobada there’s additional information on the back of the business card too. apparently, fredi rodriguez(the owner of el taquero, i’m assuming) also provides music para toda ocasion! merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, banda, hip hop, rancheras the servers were very friendly. i complimented them on their spread and asked if they owned a restaurant that i could visit. one of the ladies replied, ‘maybe one day!‘ i’ll be the first in line when that happens! until then, to all clients who hire me for their weddings, please hire el taquero as your caterer. for the love of awesome enchiladas(and for my happy stomach), DOIT.
