I ordered delivery from here. The driver was rude. Then i realized they had forgotten a burrito from my order. I called the restaurant. The basically called me a liar and refused to refund that portion of my order.

Not that I ever ordered from this, um, «place» again, but I have to respond to the reply i just saw from the owner. What a professional! Poignant, relevant, well-considered retorts I must say. Pity they are obscured by an apparent inability to use, you know, grammar. Though his clear trouble with spelling may just explain the repugnance of his food, perhaps he is using the wrong ingredients?

I ordered a wet burrito from this place and let me tell you, it was the worst wet burrito I’ve ever had from the sauce to the meat. It was seriously disgusting. I will never order from this place again not worth the money at all.

I was craving a burrito, but didn’t feel like driving, and this was one of 3 places that would deliver to me. In order to deliver they had a $ 13 minimum. No big deal. I order a Wet Pastor Burrito, an order of guacamole, an order of chips, and a bottle of coke. 1st disappointment was when it got here and instead of a bottle of Coke they brought a can. I paid $ 2 for a freaking can of coke? Not a huge deal. I then get into the burrito and although it satisfied my craving it was pretty boring. I ordered pastor. I have never had dry pastor. This seemed to be seasoned and BBQ’ed pork instead of off of a vertical spit. It also seemed to just have the meat and flavorless rice. I didn’t see anything else inside. On top it had plenty of enchilada sauce and melted cheese. It was a good size for the price, which was a bit high. Now, the chips were $ 2 for the amount of chips most places in the mission give you for free and the guacamole I have made better guacamole as a gringo from the suburbs. Also, it was $ 5 and was not worth $ 5.

I was at the house hungry on a weekend which was a very cold day and didn’t want to cook nor go and buy the food my self. So I decided to google places that deliver so I came across . the refferal website its is very proffesinal and easy to order. I was super excited to have found a mexican restaurant that delivers. We are a family of six so therefore we had a big order coming. Grubhub estimated my food arrival from 1hr. to an 1hr 30minutes the food got here even faster I liked that. So I received a text prior to its arrival and a call upon. I sent my oldest daughter to pay and the guy decided to just tell her good bye and walked away not giving her any change back. Regularly delivery guys give you your change and then kind of wait there to see if you give them a tip NO this guy gave himself the tip. I was upset. I had plans on giving him a tip but not that way. I ordered a Torta Carne Azada it was nothing like I expected. The meat was NOT carne asada I am Mexican and that torta is nowhere an authentic mexican torta. I was so dissapointed. Two of my kids ordered a regular burrito for each asada we asked no salsa, they must of forgetten because they added salsa. My youngest daughter order nuggets she liked them but the fries were not cooked well so they were mushy and you could drain the oil. We also ordered nachos they were good. Will I order again hell NO!!!

1:50 for delivery, gave us dry enchiladas, undercooked rice, greasy french fries(?) with our kid’s quesadilla, and left out our carnitas tacos. Instead of calling, they handed me 3 crinkled and ripped dollars(this refund didn’t include the tax and tip charged for the items, not to get nitpicky over 50 cents…). We called immediately and asked if we could get another order with a waived delivery fee, and they said no. That being said, great hard shell tacos

RUNAWAY, FARFARAWAY. Just don’t. And especially don’t order from these guys via a delivery service. This shit is awful. And when I called GrubHub to complain about the quality and ask for a refund, you think that would be the end of it. Oh no. The owner/cook called me and gave me a lecture on what Mexican food is/is not. Sorry, but a torta cubana is not a nasty rubbery soup of soggy bread and limp lettuce surrounding a pallid hot dog. The quesadilla sucked too. Total waste of time and money. Would have been wayyyy better off eating that 2 yr old vegan burrito in the back of my freezer.

According to eat24, there are two Mexican restaurants that will deliver to our workplace. The other one was closer, but we picked this one because it was cheaper & had a lower delivery fee. Oh Mah Gawd, did we make the right decision. The fajitas are fresh, light & wonderfully tasty. Their homemade chips are fantastic & their salsa is spicy & uniquely flavorful. My coworker was super happy with his super burrito. We are fat & happy right now. Give yourself some love. Eat here.

I ordered from here through GrubHub. They delivered me a box of shit, a box of over cooked tasteless chicken with dried up old beans, and guacamole made with NOT ripe avocados. But for the purposes of this review we will focus on the box of shit they delivered. Lets talk about the delivery, took a long time and when the food arrived it was COLD! But I have a microwave, I could have heated it up. I opened my box of shit and was wondering where my Chili Rellano was… I opened the other boxes… NO chili rellano. So I decided the box of shit must of have been the chili rellano. Sometimes Mexican food isn’t pretty but I decided that I would try it, I’m brave, and I’m even Mexican! It was the most disgusting thing I had ever put in my mouth, seriously bitter, cold, rubbery, and tasted GROSS! It WAS shit in a box. The cook must have shit in the environmentally unfriendly Styrofoam box and sent it over… but wait… shit is usually at least warm when it comes out… so now I’m even doubting myself on that one. We called Grub Hub and they called the place(from this point forward it’s called the place because restaurants serve food and I’m not sure if this was really food), they refused to replace, redeliver, or refund. I am sure glad for Unilocal,Facebook, and all the other sites this review will be posted on. GROSSDISGUSTINGSHIT, THEOWNERS, COOKS, and anyone connected with this place ought to be ASHAMED. Take pride in what you serve! Take care of your customers and they will take care of you. This place is obviously missed the culinary boat and the the customer service boat! Perhaps the DMV is hiring. Please look at my previous reviews of other restaurants, I have never posted a review of this nature…

THESHITTIESTFOOD I’VEEVEREATENINMYLIFE. THEGARBAGEDISPOSALGOTITAND i WASWORRIEDITMIGHTKILLITFOREVER. The food was not fit for human consumption. Ordered: Nachos — dry, cold, cheese was cheap and flavorless,. Carnitas: Greasy, tasteless and had some cheap cut that had so much greasy fat it was inedible. Chile Relleno — My friend reported it was«Bitter». Their salsa sucked and you’d have to put a gun to my head to order from this fucking awful restaurant ever again. Literally, it was dreadful. Horrible, it was total shit.

I placed an order through Eat24& was told that I should expect a wait of 45 – 60 minutes before I received my tasty Mexican food. Well, it ended up taking ***90 minutes***, which is utterly ridiculous. The phone number I had for the restaurant led only to a recording that said the box was full and told me to hang up. Concerned that I might have been the victim of fraud, ordering food from a company that doesn’t exist or has gone out of business, I contacted Eat24, and they found a way to phone the restaurant, and the owner told them that the delivery driver was«stuck in rush hour traffic.» If I’m not mistaken, there doesn’t tend to be a lot of «rush hour traffic» at 7:30 in the evening, so I felt like the restaurant owner was lying to me to cover up some incompetence of their own. The food, when it finally arrived, was okay. Nothing special. The quesadilla was barely browned at all, mostly just a plain flour tortilla with melted cheese inside. The carne asada was edged with a lot of fat, but the meat was flavorful. The guacamole was too lemony for my tastes, but I know some people like it that way; it certainly seemed to be made with wonderfully ripe and tasty avocados. The portions were certainly large for the price, and I was excited that the menu includes agua frescas(which they call«fresh water»), because I’ve never been able to get an agua fresca delivered to my door before!(The agua fresca I ordered — couldn’t determine the flavor, but it was yellow — was sweeter than most I’ve had, but it was still good.) The food might have been adequate enough to make me order from El Calabozo again — there aren’t a lot of places in Oakland/Berkeley that deliver Mexican food! — but the delivery service was so incredibly bad that I’m afraid I may have been turned off permanently. I was VERY hungry by the time my food arrived, which soured my experience considerably. Maybe someday if I have a truly serious craving for Mexican food while unable to leave the house for some reason, I will order from them again, but it would probably require pretty dire circumstances.

This place is awesome! Seriously. I’ve seen this place on eat24 and grubhub, but today was my first time ordering from there. So glad I did! Like everyone else, I think the portions are extremely generous; the ingredients are fresh and everything I ordered was super delicious. Super. Delicious. What I ordered: — The Breakfast Burrito: First of all, I ordered a breakfast burrito at 2:30 in the afternoon and got it hot, fresh and made to order — no problem. Sooooo good. And the burrito is so large I think I can save half for breakfast tomorrow! — Chicken Tacos: fresh and delicious. Just what I was hoping they would taste like. — Guacamole: good portion, fresh flavor. Winner. — Delivery: Promised to deliver between 45 – 60 minutes and showed up in 45 min. I will definitely be ordering from here again. :D I can’t imagine why anyone would give this place a negative review… If you love delicious, fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine, you must give El Calabozo a try.

I found this place through grubhub and love them. –Nice size portion for cheap. I’m always full, sometimes have a bit of leftover. –Fresh food for Mexican delivery(that exists?) I really had low expectations and am always surprised with the amount of good quality meat they use(i think its better than I buy for myself at the supermarket :(lol) No wilted veggies either –Great Service! Delivery is usually an hour(I am in downtown oakland they serve east oakland so I assume its a bit far for them) BUT one time I ordered a salad and really wanted chicken so I added it in the comments without calling and asking. They gave me a HUGE amount of really tasty grilled chicken on it, I think they charged only $ 3 extra. –Try the sandwiches,(torta?) Never had one before and was blown away, It was a huge portion too. and it didn’t arrive soggy which I was scared of after I ordered it. Order before your starving if you live far from them, other than that they are a good place eat.

mexican delivery? shit, I’m in trouble. not only is it convenient but their food is DELICIOUS and affordable. I ordered two tacos, a huarache regular, and their guacamole since I heard it was so delicious. The tacos are just like the ones you get from the truck and pretty much the same price. Their al pastor and carne asada are both very tasty. The huarache, I still have no idea what it really is exactly but it is damn good! It’s like a tortilla, topped with beans and meat, cheese, and salsa(red or green). Now that I think about it I guess it’s kind of like an open face enchilada. It’s huge and only $ 5.00! Their guacamole also did not disappoint and their homemade tortilla chips were super tasty. I’m so glad I found this place. Also, I’m kind of worried for my health.

Holy crap! DANGER: Mexican delivery??? Hell has frozen over and I’m going to be the fattest fatty in Fat Town! Wait… does that even make sense!!! Yes, I’m THAT excited! They even have online ordering(GrubHub) and their food is good and cheap! * tacos: taco truck style and such a freakin’ steal! Most are $ 1.35! * super burrito: big, delicious, and heart clogging – yum! Did I mention, CHEAP? $ 6! * quesadillas: different from the traditional flat flour tortillas… more like a papusa… thick and bready(that’s what she said). $ 2.50 each! * salsas: tried two… one was a smoky chipotle and the other was a deliciously spicy salsa verde. BOMB.

Wow what a great find for flavor and car wouldn’t start after one of our recent Oaktown freezing food in the house and delivery prospects are grim, especially in the morning. Enter El Calabozo! Fresh, fresh ingredients, everything hand made and cooked to order. Pablo patiently took my order, explaining the menu and answering all questions. What arrived by a well dressed, friendly Pablo in a beautiful car: –Off the chain made for me guacamole with avocado chunks, onion, tomato, cilantro and mucho lemon juice to make it pop. Tangy, fresh and delicious served with freshly homemade and still warm corn tortilla chips. –Fried quesadilla in homemade corn tortillas, two to an order, one Mexican fried chicken breast chunks and the other hongos(mushrooms) both with melted cheese, and cotija cheese, sour cream, spicy red and green tomatillo salsa for garnishes. Amazing! –Torta de Pollo(sandwich) with chicken breast, beans, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño(I opted for none and they remembered) Grilled like a panino on a panini grill.Delicioso. –A hard shell taco with beans, cheese, cilantro, tomato, onion topping and sour cream and the two salsas. Beyond tasty! Homemade vegetable soup of which they have a few daily.Yummy. Everthing was delicious, fresh, homemade, quality ingedients and came to $ 22 with free delivery.@San Diego girl… having lived so close to the border, you should know how varied regional cooking can be. This is Abuela’s(Grandma’s)cooking. Pablo, a total professional, delivered my a.m.food with a five-dollar-off-for-ordering-online coupon, his card for his well priced limo service and a big smile, to my East Oakland address. I wish El Calabozo the best of luck for taking a different, fresh approach, with delivery. If it weren’t the middle of the night I would order right now as looking at your menu made my hungry , Eva .

El Calabozo looks nondescript for a mexican eatery. menu has the usual burrito, xmas gifts and décor gathered around the dining room. menu: tacos, quesadillas, plate dishes, etc. flatscreen: soccer. eats:super burrito, carna asada(5) –grilled beef strips within burrito very tasty and fresh. accompanying tortilla chips crunchy and salty. –the rice and beans in the burrito were average tasting and kind of mushy. sour cream the same. –accompanying salsa were nice –rating 3.2 stars frijoles refritos: –quality uneven, some gems here. –above average service. –possible repeat.

Found this place through Grub Hub. I have ordered delivery from them 3 times so far. The fact that they are a taqueria who delivers is one thing, but the fact their food is consistently yummy, delivery people are pleasant, and their food is extremely inexpensive will keep me coming back for more. Keep up the good work guys… I’ll be back!

Mexican food that delivers is like a dream. Mexican food that delivers that TASTESGOOD is your wildest fantasy coming true. But, it’s possible. What you want to order here is the fried chicken, which is done Latin American style, with lots of oregano, garlic, and lime(if you don’t believe me, start with the«chicken nuggets» from the kids menu to get a taste). The guacamole is also fresh and tangy. Real, home-made tortilla chips seal the deal. Please start ordering delivery from them(via Grubhub) so they don’t take this away. Please.

This place has very tasty food, and unlike most places near me, they deliver! I definitely enjoyed the fried quesadilla(a large corn tortilla, stuffed with cheese and chicken, then folded and deep fried for awesomeness) and pork super burrito(handmade tortilla with beans/rice/al pastor and good salsa, sour cream on the side). The extras included some cheese/salsas to add to the burrito/quesadilla. Definitely check them out.
