Dr. Nickels was on call when I phoned in for pain medication on Friday. I had phoned my doctor the morning of the day before but had not received a reply. I explained that I was in pain from my first chemo treatment. He stated in an unconcerned tone that I should have handled this before my doctors office closed or wait until Monday. I tried to explain and I acknowledged his tone. He hung up. I’m in pain and now shocked. I phoned the call center back giving him the benefit of the doubt and he never called me back. Even if he were unable to write a prescription, any suggestion for my pain would have been greatly appreciated.

I think Dr. Nickles is one of the most knowledgeable internists in the East Bay. I’ve seen him for years and I would recommend him to anyone. I’ve also seen his physician assistants and they are excellent as well. I have no problem seeing one of his physician assistants. When I do, there’s often a consult with Dr. Nickles before I leave the visit.

I’ve been coming to Dr. Nickles’ office for over a year. I’ve had a out 4 appointments and not once have I actually had the pleasure of an audience with Dr. Nickles. Each time I make an appt., I get his physician’s assistant, not«my» doctor. For my last physical, I asked if I could have my appt. with Dr. Nickles, not his physician assistant. Who should walk in? The PA. Also, the women who staff the front desk are not friendly. I hear great things about Dr. Nickles. It would be nice to meet him. The 2 stars are for his PA.
