Yummy! I really enjoyed the tuna salad sandwich and the goat cheese cake. I will most Will you be coming here again. It seems like the only place in the Laurel to get a decent plate of real food! I’ll be back to try more items on the menu.

Good food, friendly service and overall a great addition the neighborhood! I live very close but just heard about this place today. It’s nice inside with a private parking lot on the side. There are numerous«to-go» options available in the front case, and a wider selection available if you dine in. I had the grilled tofu sandwich($ 8), which was a good portion for the price. It had a spicy chipotle marinade, which was a little oily, but had good flavor. It came with a side salad. My friend had a black ham and gruyère half sandwich with a cup of carrot and yellow split pea soup($ 8.50). It had good flavor and was also well priced for the portion. They had some desserts but we were both too full from lunch. This is a great option for lunch or healthy take-out if you’re in the area.

I stopped in to have lunch. Very nice surrounding, décor. The staff were very pleasant and polite. Now down to what really counts. Let me say this. Anytime that you are served a meal, which doesn’t have to be seasoned. . Thats a good meal. I had the Pork Stew with Potatoes and Carrots over Polenta . Iced Tea w/Lemon. Mmmm mm good. Don’t let me forget, I started with the Broccoli Cheese Soup. Also very good. I finished it all off with a Coconut Macaroon. Wow! But as if I haven’t said enough already. What really stood out beyond all else, The waitresses, so polite and attentive, kept checking on me, making sure all was well. It was. So my hat is off meal very well prepared and a pleasant experience during my lunch break. I WILLBECOMINGBACK
THANKYOU

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. The food tastes fresh, and the people working there are friendly. I’ve had the chicken salad sandwich, kale salad, skirt steak dinner and it was all good. My husband had the fried chicken dinner and enjoyed it. I plan on trying more of their menu items. Glad they are here.

We just had a delicious lunch at this nice little restaurant. They were able to accommodate 22 of us from a San Diego collegiate volleyball team. The owner, Michelle, was great in reserving enough spots for us, and the food was yummy! The team of hungry young men and coaches were satisfied at the end of their meals! Thanks to the whole staff!

Haven’t had the pleasure of dining in, but we took some tasty stuff home today. Macaroni and cheese, stuffed baked potato, turkey and cranberry sandwich, sweet potato and brussels sprouts salad, ham and gruyère sandwich and a coconut macaroon. Can’t wait to try some of the other dishes, but I’d happily order the same again. Everything was fresh, well seasoned and delicious. The staff was friendly and the dining area was clean and flooded with natural light. Hoping MacArthur will soon have more establishments like this one.

Good food, friendly staff. Good vegan options as well as plenty to satisfy any carnivore. The carry out options looked great and we’ll definitely be checking out their great vegetarian soup options. Sad we didn’t have room for the mac & cheese or dessert because they looked great too.

This place is a good«quick stop» to pick up a quick bite. I wouldn’t rave about it like some other people in the reviews though. It’s kind of like a fast food place but healthier. I got a kale salad and a tuna salad. Both were pre made. The tuna salad was ok, not bad. The kale salad was pretty good. They have their own little parking area so that’s a plus.

Oh man, this place is EXCELLENT. I got the macaroni and cheese, and some amazing dessert that I can’t remember exactly what it was because I have an infant and I’m sleep-deprived, but it was some kind of fruit crumble situation. It was SOGOOD. I’m moving out of the area, to Concord, and the fact that I might not be back here any time soon is one of the things that make me sad to move. Please go — this location has a history of restaurants coming and going, and I want this one to stay! It’s a small menu that changes seasonally, with friendly staff, and reasonably priced, good food. They also have a deli counter where you can just grab stuff to go.

Great little local gem. The food is really good, for either take out or eating in. The waitress was very friendly, and even got to know our kid’s name. And the food is so good that we been back several times and even grabbed some dessert to go even though we were full with the great chicken, lamb meat balls, cornbread, and more!

This place is so good! I’m glad we have a local healthy eatery! I’m born and raised in this area and it’s perfectly safe to eat at! Pros: Friendly staff, can even meet the owner she’s so sweet! After you understand the changing of menus weekly you learn your favorites. They have vegetarian options and plenty of cold to-go food. You can take home the dinner entrées which are in foil it’s exquisite. Cons: Can’t take home the lunch entrées, at night the big windows and bright light kinda put you on display since this place sits right on the street. A little pricey but the food is so so good! Overall this is a healthy local eatery that is somewhat undiscovered but home-y.

The food here is pretty good but the service is peculiar. Their eat-in menu excludes items you can see on the counter but are ‘take-away only’. We found a compromise where they brought is take-away items(in a box!) alongside our lunch items.

Beautiful space with honest food. Big windows that let a lot of natural light in. Came in for lunch on a Saturday & there wasn’t too many people. Ordered the special for that day, Jambalaya & corn bread for $ 10. It had a really good smoky taste. Overall a good experience.

Their chicken salad is so good I have dreams about it! With a baguette and some lager, it’s my very favorite post-hike meal :) Love it here!

I happened to be in the hood and I saw this place while cruising down McArthur. The inside is clean and slightly modern. I looked at the menu and got the following: Spiced eggplant soup Ham and gruyère sandwich The food was good and well executed but I was hoping there’d be something with a little more pop since this place has had so many good reviews. On the way out, I overheard someone order a chicken pot pie and my ears perked up. I love me some tasty chicken pot pie so I ordered a large one to go. This is where I’d knock off a star. I was disappointed with the pie; it didn’t have much flavor and the dough wasn’t very flaky. Oh well. I’ll try to come back and order some other goods later.

HOLYFREAKINSHITBALLSBATMAN!!! The hubby took me there for my birthday dinner and let me say this, I will keep coming back again and again and again. This was the loveliest meal I have had in such a long time. Simple yet elegant, health conscious yet exploding with flavor! The perfect menage~a~trois of passion, skill, and fine ingredients. The server(curly hair and glasses I am so sorry sweetie I don’t remember your name) was so sweet and spoke of the dishes with such passion. While we waited for nothing, she did not hover, the perfect type of service. I also overheard her telling another table about the restaurant and she had that same beam of pride for their offerings. The chimichurri was exquisite, perfectly cooked, and left me so sad when it was over. Seriously though, I was bummed. Now let me make this quite plain for you all, I am a complete and utter little bitch about my potatoes. They gotta be perfectly crispy for me, all of them, every time, no exceptions, got it? Well I may have found my new favorite restaurant in the Laurel… THEWORLD! The fried yukon gold potatoes were the thinnest, crispiest, and most delicious little oval shaped bits of heaven on the planet. The portion sizes are more than generous, so my utter despair at the fact that I had all but licked the plate clean and still wanted more was nothing more than my own gluttony. Stop whatever you are doing right now and go eat there, you will not be disappointed!!!

I am magnetically drawn to delicious foods served in beautiful spaces, so I really liked Communite Table. I am compulsively reactive when asked to follow illogical rules(let’s blame the nuns), so I owe my waiter an apology. Communite Table is a great addition to the Laurel, one of several new spots worth a visit. They have a lovely, spacious dining room and make fresh, well-crafted yummies like macaroni and cheese, cheesecake and a variety of sandwiches and salads. They also have frozen take-out pot pies and soups. The food we had tasted great, and the food we didn’t have looked great. But oh, the food we didn’t have. You see, if you sit at a table inside, you are served by a waiter and must order off the menu, which includes some– but importantly, not all– of the items in the case at the front. I wanted the beet salad. It was sitting right next to the kale salad, which I could order but didn’t want. But I couldn’t have the beet salad, because I chose to eat in the restaurant. You following? I wasn’t, either. When informed of this, I responded to my poor waiter– who didn’t make these rules and I’m sure hates explaining them– with my grouchiest sourpuss face and a, «That’s weird.» Look. I was hungry. The rule is counterintuitive. I have a fat mouth. And the Sisters of the Presentation made me touchy about being bossed around for no reason. So I’m sorry. He’s a great server, and to his credit, he didn’t meet my sourpussiness in kind. But Owner Lady, I suspect your rules are causing more confusion than they’re worth. I look forward to coming back to your place and hope to have all the food you are selling available to me when I do. Please let me give you more money?

I had some out-of town guests and we were looking to change it up a bit for Saturday brunch, and it was a bit on the late side. We walked down MacArthur and hit up Communite. What a GREAT Brunch option, especially if you want to have something light and healthy. Joe had the Special, Jambalaya with side of home made corn bread, and he practically licked the plate(can’t take him anywhere). I treated myself to the Mac and Cheese with a side salad(the presentation effort put into such a small salad tells you how much pride they take in their food here) and John had the freshly-made soup. I’m really looking forward to the summer — the patio would be perfect for wine and small plates.

Great for Take Out! Have had a great dinner experience and an OK lunch. The take home from the Freezer Stuff has been great! Soup, Chicken Pot Pie– Yummy! Oh, YES– The staff is lovely and very friendly. And fresh baked chocolate chip cookies still warm from the oven don’t hurt either

Another new joint that has opened up in the Laurel district. I LOVE the influx of new places and businesses and look forward to seeing Communite table establish itself here in the neighborhood. We’ve come by in the evenings and have taken out the frozen food to prepare at home — the quiche Lorraine and the chicken pot pie on separate occasions. Both were pretty good — still feels like a home cooked hot meal without the need for prep. While Laurel isn’t bustling, it’s handy that Communite has a small parking lot making trips in and out quite fast and efficient. Did have lunch here once — my husband had the chicken salad and I had a ham and Gruyère — pretty standard fair. They also have a number of wines on tap — I had the sangiovese but I didn’t love it. I do hope business continues to improve for them, the frozen foods have been great, and the made to order foods are fine, but the pre-made foods in the counter does sometimes look like it’s been there for several hours.

Hell yeah, a new favorite in the neighborhood! Wanted to try for ages, but they still have somewhat weird opening hours(i.e. not open after 7pm), but as I have learned today, this might change in the future. Anywho… I arrived around noon and the lunch crowd was not tooo big. Sat at the communal table, just because… ordered the minted carrot soup and half a sandwich and was a happy camper. For dessert: bread pudding! Super crunchy on top, not too sweet. VERY good! Service was nice and personable, water kept coming and the atmosphere is really relaxing. When you come into the place, you can see most of the to-go dishes on display, everything looks very appetizing. I saw a couple of salads coming out of the kitchen and being served at the next table. Next time I will definitely try one of these. The other table also had mac ‘n cheese that looked amazing! I am looking forward to many lunch hours here. It is a nice walk from my home and exactly what I needed! Btw: Price for two soup/sandwich lunches with a shared bread pudding: $ 25 before tip.
