I’ve been coming to this café for a year because it is right next to my school. Sometimes I’ve spent hours there, doing homework or reading. I always come in with a smile on my face and I’m nothing but polite to the couple who run this establishment. This place is not always the cleanest, the food is not worth the price, and the man and the woman who own it seem to really hate each other. I’ve seen the man aggressively yell at his wife in front of customers because he thought she was making a mistake with an order. He is always extremely harsh with her and it creates a really uneasy atmosphere. They have never been kind to me. They’re both very curt and rude and I’ve never understood why, after them seeing me in their café up to six times a week, they have never treated me nicely. They never smile back.(I have seen them smile and joke with customers who are obvious regulars, but they’re always men. They have never even said«how is your morning?» to me or anything slightly conversational, and ignored me if I ever tried.) hey usually close at four, and sometimes I would come in at three to buy an overpriced kombucha and they would give me dirty looks like they couldn’t believe I would come in that close to closing time. Last week I bought my boyfriend a coffee and myself a hot tea. My boyfriend, a former barista, recognized the cardboard flavor of instant coffee and went into the café to ask for a refund. Mind you, his house just burned down and we’re trying to move out of the Bay Area so it really sucks to accidentally waste money. At first the man refuses to refund us, then he takes the coffee and angrily throws it across the kitchen into the sink. He gives my boyfriend the money and as my boyfriend is leaving he says«I’m going to give this place a bad review,» which seemed to trigger the guy, so he comes charging out from behind the counter, calling my boyfriend names and cursing, then follows my boyfriend to our car around to the drivers side and threatened to hit my boyfriend! I immediately called the cops. The guy told ME to never come back, as if I ever would. Moral of the story, the man who runs this café is a psychopath with anger issues and violent tendencies and he takes out his frustration on his wife who slaves for him and on his(female or queer) customers. I will never step foot in this place again and I don’t think anyone should support this café. UPDATE12÷31÷15 The wife is belligerent and has proceeded to send me multiple angry, threatening messages on Unilocal after I submitted this review. Immature at best, but truly pathetic behavior from them if I’m being honest. Can’t believe how unprofessional this business is.

I ordered the marinated chicken breast sandwich. It had a lot of mayo. Other than that, the service was good(nice cashier). Free wifi was a plus.

5 stars for the breakfast sandwich(a perfectly fried egg, cheese, bacon and their amazing hot sauce). The couple that owns this place is so so nice. Sometimes I «forget» my breakfast or «don’t have time» to make breakfast at home so I can come here for a breakfast sando.

This place was my daily breakfast/coffee place right before my morning classes at the college. I preferred to have bagels for breakfast and I found that their bagels were tastier than the ones on the CCA campus café. It is a quiet café shop owned by a sweet couple who take their time to make the beverages and food items. I loved their Parmesan cheese bagels with cream cheese! There is also plenty of seating inside and is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy some coffee and pastries. It is also located at the the corner of College Ave– there are many local shops and small eateries worth to check out as well on a nice Sunday stroll.

I was staying in Oakland to visit a friend, and she lives about 10 minutes from College Ave. I was on my own for breakfast, so I ventured out and this was the first place I encountered. Looked cute, so I wandered inside. Was immediately greeted by(I’m assuming) the owners — a couple — who were cutting some veggies. They recommended the breakfast special(egg, cheese, bacon, avocado on a bagel for like 4 bucks). I chose the everything bagel, no bacon, with hot sauce. I also got one of the smoothies(I wish I could remember which, but it was tropical) and a huge bottle of water. Everything was about 9 bucks — awesome. Cheap. The breakfast bagel was DELICIOUS. Who knew something simple could be so good? The egg was cooked perfectly, with a slightly runny yolk, the avocado was fresh, and the bagel was yummy. Smoothie was good — the ice cream really makes it. Owners were ridiculously nice — I realized there was no spot for a tip on the receipt, and I didn’t have any cash, and they wouldn’t let me try to add money to my bill and just said«next time!». Unfortunately there won’t be a next time as I don’t live there, but hopefully people see this review and frequent this cute little café!

The male owner has always been rude and quite unwelcoming to me. I wonder if it is because I look androgynous/like a lesbian. However, today has hit an all-time low. I was enjoying my coffee, and the lady was very nice and we both said have a nice day. But then I sat outside on their tables for a moment with my best friend. *Still with my coffee from their establishment in hand.* The owner comes out of the café and starts yelling at my friend because she was eating a bite of her food at the table. Now, I can understand if he was polite! And simply would have said, «Pardon, may you please put that food away and not eat it on her table?» *****But instead, he yelled at my friend quite loudly and continued to yell at her for a full minute.*********** Now, we both were having bad days but he just made it 100x worse. Ask politely, and you shall receive. Not yell and be rude to a friend of a customer! I will never be going here again. There is so much better customer service in this world. I don’t need to have my friend get yelled at after I spent my hard-earned money at this establishment. PEOPLENEEDTOCHOOSEOCCUPATIONSTHATMAKETHEMHAPPY. That’s the best advice I can give to him. What’s the point in living if you’re that much of a sad sack all the time?

Had a TERRIBLE experience with the male owner. I came out from my hair appointment next-door, went to my car and proceeded to look at my phone before I got ready to leave. He was in front of my car mumbling at me so I opened the window and asked him what was wrong. He proceeded to tell me that he couldn’t stand people who took advantage of handicapped parking spaces. Well neither can I, but I have a disabled placard for a reason. It’s not obvious — I don’t use a cane or crutch — but my doctor gave me that placard for a reason that is none of his business. I told him that he had no right to say that to me and that he had no idea what somebody was dealing with just by looking at them. He proceeded to call me a bitch and it went downhill from there. His wife came up to me and told me that a lot of Chinese people come and park in that space and that’s why he was so upset. I told her that I wasn’t one of them, but what a racist thing to say. Very upsetting. In the five years I’ve had my disabled placard I have never had anyone accuse me of misusing it. ASK before making accusations or better yet, mind your own business!

This review is based on my smoothie, the cleanliness and the semifreddi* pastry offerings. Had a blueberry raspberry, coconut and banana smoothie with milk. Icecream is also an option. Anyway, they were honest when I asked if they use fresh fruit. They told me some is fresh and some is frozen which is fine with me, that’s how I make my smoothies at home. So, while there I noticed they offer those little bundt cakes and fresh semifreddi pastry and bread for their sandwhiches. They offer kombucha, odwalla and zico fridge. Amongst other beverages, but those are the ones which commanded my attention. I will definitely be re visiting this place!

My fiancé and I were wandering around College Avenue when we were both hit with a sudden hot beverage craving. We looked up and right in front of us was College Point Café. College Point Café is a small café located on the Oakland side of College Avenue, near Broadway. College Point Café doesn’t really offer that much looks-wise, but it definitely has a loyal following. My fiancé waited outside with our dog, while I went in to purchase our drinks: a coffee for him and a hot chocolate for me. The staff was great — very friendly and helpful. The other customers looked like they were all regulars. One guy actually came in and asked the cook to make«The sandwich you made Mike the other day.» We ended up sitting outside at one of the outside tables to have our drinks. Great place.

Finally decided check out this tiny café around the corner and was pleasantly surprised of the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. I had my decent worth of bfast sandos from halal carts in NYC and this café nailed it with their delish English muffin and perfectly cooked egg. Oh and they serve Peet’s coffee! Winner.

I used to walk to CCA from the Rockridge Bart. This is the perfect place to stop in on your morning commute. They have fresh baked breads on the counter and a cooler full of Snapple, Orangina, Odwalla, and other juices. They also serve smoothies. I recommend getting the breakfast sandwiches, egg and cheese on a tasty piece of bread. I wish I could remember if it was a croissant or an English muffin, but it was satisfying for the right price. They offer avocado and bacon as an add-on. I also highly recommend the spinach and mozzarella panini. Just the two ingredients listed make it sound tasty enough, but this sandwich is packed full of artichoke hearts, black olives, and red peppers, served with a quarter slice of a pickle. It’s a hearty portion for a panini. It’s enough to eat half there and save the other half for later in the day. With the cheese melting thoroughly through the assorted vegetables, all of the flavors blend to just the right amount of a sour, savory, creamy, vegetarian delight. As an added bonus, the couple who operates the restaurant are very nice people. An older woman takes orders and makes fresh to order coffee, and an older gentleman makes the sandwiches, It just adds to your dining experience to know that the owners are genuine and care about their business. They have outside seating and a raised area inside where you can watch the foot traffic go by as you unwind in the morning or afternoon.

I work across the street, and my coworkers and I are in love with this adorable café. The staff treat you like family instantly, and after your first visit you’ll see why everyone who comes here are regulars. The ambiance and mood of this place is what the rest of Rockridge wishes it could be, and overall its just a friendly, genuine place. As far as food, Im smitten with their breakfast sandwich(with hot sauce!), and for lunch, a turkey melt sandwich on dutch crunch. You’d be hard pressed to find a sandwich here that isn’t fantastic. Their smoothies are really good too, try their crazy coffee if you’re a caffeine lover, and they also offer Peet’s here. They offer take-out, and you can call in orders.

I come here at least three times a week on average. It doesn’t look like much, but let me tell you that there is nowhere in Rockridge where you will find a more delicious bagel. The owners are fantastic, friendly, hardworking people which makes it just that much better. Everything is fresh and really made with consideration for the ultimate sandwich/bagel/breakfast experience. It’s worth having to wait a few minutes for the quality that you receive. I know I’m going to have a good day when I eat here. The bagel with humus and avocado in particular is sooooooooo fricken good, it cannot be imitated! I have tried making it on my own and at countless other cafes and nothing else compares.

Time: 1:42pm/53°F crack of sun Purpose: Place was on list for potential account pick up. Ambiance: Two tables with chairs out front, inside has about 15 seats with tables available. Bright small deli that is located right in the beginning of college ave coming from north bound Broadway. Free Wi-Fi but don’t sit there forever as I can see his face from he hates it but what can he do it’s part of business. Staff: Older middle age man friendly quick to greet me and tell me what his special was. I said let me look around first as I wasn’t that hungry just had fish tacos. Cleanliness: It’s clean for what it is. Eats/Drinks: A large Peet’s drip to go cup on him. Products: Sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, Peet’s coffee, juices, smoothies, pastries, side items. Punch Line: Great place to get away from inner college ave cafes, friendly owner, free wi-fi. Final Thoughts: It’s okay place if you must come becareful sitting outside tables it’s on a decline a little off seating I’m not heavy person but if you’re one don’t sit on the plastic chairs grab a wooden from inside thank me later.

I started working in an office right around the corner from the café in September. I went in & met the owners, Fred & Marji & we became friends immediately. They make your order fresh right in front of you. Their sandwiches & wraps are delicious. Definitely a great place to grab a bite for lunch. I will continue going there for years to come.

I live in the neighborhood, and regularly go to College Point Café for lattes, breakfast fixings, or lunch. The owners, Fred and Marji, are friendly, helpful and responsive. I recommend the English Muffin with Cheese, Egg and Bacon and Hot Sauce. Interesting art inside, plus Fred’s collection of muscle car models, and Marji’s Persian and German art. Love to sit on the sidewalk tables on a sunny afternoon and watch College Avenue walkers. Free wifi. Close to lots of other cool shops. Closed Sundays.

Sometimes I for my job I have to work in Rockridge and when I do I go to College Point Café. It is literally across the street from work. I have only gotten a few things here, coffee, iced and hot, and breakfast. They serve Peet’s coffee which I like and they have an assortment of pastries, I like the bran muffin, but they run out pretty early on in the day. The breakfast special, an english muffin or bagel with a fried egg and cheese for $ 3.25, add bacon for a $ 1, is really tasty with the hot sauce they use, maybe Chulula. Their menu has sandwiches, soups, wraps and bagels. I haven’t had a chance yet to try these things out but I probably will soon. My complaints about this place is that they close early, maybe 4pm, and that there is no cocoa or vanilla powder and nonfat milk at the condiment bar. That’s it. The owners are friendly. The inside of the place is is little depressing but on the upside, they have outdoor seating. This café is alright.
