Chinatown 76 Smog Station

This was a horrible experience. I only came here because Econo next door wasn’t open yet. I waited for about 30 minutes, when they told me it would be 15 and once they were done, my car speedometer needle was stuck at 100 mph. Even with the car off, it wasn’t going down to zero. I took the car back asking them to take a look at it or if they would be wiling to pay for the needed repairs. They told me it has nothing to do with the smog check and that it wasn’t their problem. I am also putting in a report to the DMV. AVOID this place and just go to Econo’s next door.

The last time I needed a smog I found Econo on Unilocal which is just around the corner and had great reviews. When I arrived in the area I asked this station if they were Econo and they said that they were Econo and that they had just changed their name. I had them do the smog and it failed. when I had it looked at my mechanic said that it should have passed the test but made a few more adjustments just in case. I tried to smog it again at the 76 station and it failed again. When I left the station I noticed the real Econo around the block and talked to the guy there. He confirmed that a lot of people end up at the 76 station by accident thinking it is the Econo. I found out later that the 76 station hadn’t done the test correctly and that is why it didn’t pass. When I confronted the 76 station representative he offered to give me a great deal on another test but I did not trust him and left. When I got tested at the Econo it passed without a problem and although I was relieved it passed, I was disappointed that I had to pay for 2 smog tests when I really only needed one. I would avoid this place like the plague. They don’t deserve a star but I guess one is required for Unilocal
