Their GPIE + rice + salad plate is the BESTCHICKEN I’ve EVER tasted! The first time I had it, it was so amazing. You can tell the chicken was fresh and super crunchy. The sweet-spicy sauce that was given was such a great addition, too. I’ve gone back and ordered the same plate and never have been disappointed. Just thinking about it gets me hungry.

I had high hopes for Chick & Tea and was hoping it would be a go-to boba spot near school. False hope. I was excited to see that a new boba shop was opening near my school and had meant to try this place for awhile. My friends and I finally tried Chick & Tea during our lunch break and it was underwhelming to say the least. I’m a big fan of Tapioca Express’ popcorn chicken, so I was excited to try their g-pie(a crispy chicken filet). I’ve only seen such a concoction on Eddie Huang’s Munchies YouTube channel so I was looking forward to trying it. I ordered: — G-pie rice plate: Their rice plate comes with smaller g-pie nuggets. Not bad, but not great. I would rather get Tapioca Express’ or iTea’s popcorn chicken. Their rice had a sweet chili type of sauce on it and the meal also came with a salad. NOT worth the ~$ 9 price tag. — Oolong milk tea: It was quite an ordeal for us to get our milk tea. My friend ordered a large green tea, but got a small green milk tea. I ordered a small oolong milk tea, but was charged for a large size and given a small. We got what we paid for in the end but it was an unnecessary challenge. The boba tasted OLD. Probably the least chewy boba I’ve ever tasted to date. The milk tea wasn’t memorable. Side notes: — FYI, their green milk tea is actually jasmine milk tea — They charge $.30 for basil with the g-pie strips. Ain’t neva heard of a charge for basil at a boba shop. I can get a whole bushel for a few bucks. There seemed to be a communication break down between the two workers because I could hear them arguing about orders. Aside from my two friends, there were about two other customers. It wasn’t busy at all, but it took 20 minutes or so to get our food. I would consider giving the regular g-pie a try, but I’m not rushing back. I really wanted to like Chick & Tea but I was unimpressed.

The people who work here are very friendly and will customize the sweetness of the tea to your liking. The g-pie sandwich is crispy and delicious and comes with a side salad for $ 7.50. The fried oyster mushrooms were HEAVENLY. Light, crisp, and perfectly seasoned. I want some more! The convenient location by Mc Arthur BART only makes it better. I love the interior décor.

I went here with a few coworkers during our lunch break since it’s the closest boba shop near our office. huge mistake… The place was empty when we got there yet it still took them 30 minutes to make 6 drinks! We didn’t even order anything crazy either, just basic black milk tea with boba. The milk tea itself is pretty average and a little too sweet for my liking. The boba tasted like it was old too. TIP: There’s a minimum of $ 10 for credit cards.

The first attempt to try their G-Pie resulted in failure! There was NO parking to be found! The second and third attempts were successful – most likely due to rain :) The problem with my first time ever trying it was the wait. Oh boy was there was a wait. By the time I finally got to bite into it, I was just really glad that it was flavorful! It –almost– made up for the wait. If the price wasn’t so high per piece, I’d have a G-Pie addiction. My second visit, I got their calamari… stick with the G-Pie. Thanks to reviews here about their teas being sub par, I didn’t order a drink. My companion did and I took a sip – so glad I didn’t get a drink! It was bland and tasted like powder. I really hope that they improve their drinks since«tea» is in their name. Anyways, go try the G-Pie at least once if you’re in the area!

I like the boba tea, haven’t even tried the chicken. The owner Frankie is so friendly. And the big tv screen plays action movies. I just don’t really go out and eat fried chicken

Ever think to yourself, «Man, if I had a deep fryer, I’d fry the living crap out of everything and it’d taste awesome.» Well friend, you may be onto something. Or at least, towards the opposite of a healthy New Years resolution. Take chicken. Double fry. Add basil. Fry it too. Fry the onions and garlic and anything that comes in between. Then serve with salad and rice. Goddamn. They are onto something. And now I want a deep fryer. And the milk tea isn’t bad either, though I haven’t tried it with boba, I always get the hot stuff.

I rarely dislike boba. In fact, I think I might die without it. But even with that, my taste buds can distinguish good milk tea from bad ones. I ordered the honeydew milk tea and it tasted like bubblegum once you chew through the flavor. It wasn’t exactly tasteless. It just wasn’t tasty. You could tell the honeydew flavor came from a powder. I had to throw it away after a couple sips. That was sad. I just couldn’t drink it and I forbid anyone else too. It’s not one of the ones people recommend. I should’ve known. Stick with what’s popular. Lesson learned.

My friend and I were in the Temescal area and decided to try out this place since it was nearby and the ratings were too good not to go. We came here on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was quite empty, with only one or two more customers at most that came in and out. We ordered the G-pie strips and fruit tea drinks(mango & passionfruit green teas). To be quite honest, I wasn’t impressed with the G-pie. Maybe I expected too much with all 5-star reviews on it. I felt like the chicken was oddly sweet, and maybe I just didn’t like the chicken as much as everyone else seems to because I’m not familiar with fried chicken in Taiwan. I wish it was less sweet and there was a little more salt/pepper, like they do at Sweetheart’s or Purple Kow in Berkeley. The tea was good but again, was a little too sweet for my liking — I should’ve adjusted the sugar. Prices were alright. As for the store itself — it was maintained well, with two friendly young guys behind the counter that were blasting their rave music from their laptops. There were also some outlets along the seats so this place could be a good place to stop by for some phone-charging while you enjoy your food and explore the rest of what Temescal has to offer. Overall a solid place — but given the distance and the billion other tea/snack places in the area, this isn’t a top pick for me.

Amazing food and very friendly staff. I love going there for dinner. though sometimes the food is not good as other time but most of the time i am happy. I do think the food is a bit pricey for the quantity you get.

We were at an event at Warehouse 416 and kids wanted boba. Not from the area so used Unilocal. Thanks Unilocalers! Cute little place. Found out about the gpie which we had to try. My son says it’s the best fried chicken he’s had in his life! Boba tea was well made and had lots of boba pearls. Most of all, the service was great. Cashier was very friendly and thoughtful. Wished you had one in Sunnyvale area.

Holy hell, THECHICKENHERE. The mutha. Effin. G-PIE fried chicken. This chicken alone should be all you need to actually visit, but I’ll break it down for you… The fried chicken itself is less than six dollars and is a big freakin’ piece of chicken. Crispy, spicy(if you want it to be, that is), juicy, and CHEAP, this chicken is a great reason to visit. The best part is that they also sell this chicken in strips, as a filet, over rice, or even in fried chicken sandwich form. Aside from the chicken, there’s fried drumsticks, French fries, tator tots, and fried zucchini, just to name a few. There are bubble tea drinks, smoothies and the like, but I haven’t explored them much… As far as room goes, there’s not a ton of room to sit, but there’s still a decent amount of room if you’re there with a bunch of friends to stand around. The guy who owns the place is super, duper nice and has always been friendly to me and my wife. Parking in the area might be rough if you’re bad at parallel parking, but I promise you’ll find a spot at least on 41st and Telegraph Ave. If you’re riding BART, do yourself a favor and make a pitstop at MacArthur station to get yourself some fried chicken. I think this might be one of my all-time favorite fried chicken sandwiches!

4.5 stars. My friend told me about this new milk tea place that just opened while we were eating at homeroom! I knew I had to come try it. It wasn’t that busy compared to the photos of the sea of people during their grand opening. The two gentleman helping me out were very nice. They made sure to answer my question about their grass jelly.(I hate the fake jello-y thin cubes). I ordered the roasted oolong milk tea with grass jelly. I didn’t even have to tell them light ice light sugar. Or some reason I completely forgot lol. Not to fret, they make it not super sweet which I love!!! Their herbal grass jelly is awesome. No complaints. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my drink & would return for another visit if I am in the area. It’s pretty easy to find. It’s located on the corner and had street parking close by. There is a loading zone right in front so it’s convenient to pick up a quick drink! The service was quick! I hate waiting around for my drink. They have a couple tables and a bar like seating area.

Omg… DELICIOUS!!! Taiwanese fried chicken and sweet potato fries are seriously the best… peppery and spicy. Not oily or soggy at all! My new favorite TW snacks place in the Bay Area. I can’t comment on the drinks though… didn’t try.

The chicken here is fantastic! I can not go anywhere else to find a match. It’s rich in flavor and texture. I think it has the perfect crunchy coating with really interesting, complimentary seasonings. They just really nailed it for fried chicken here. I can easily see myself frequenting this place to satiate my fried chicken cravings in the future, both near and far. The boba is just okay… I would describe the boba here as mediocre, if not too sweet. I had the honeydew and had even requested«less sweet» in my order. Yet still, when delivered, the boba was pure sugar slush. I’m going to pass on buying drinks here from now on. I will just stick to the chicken, which is more than good enough for me. The place, over all, seems a bit run down. This doesn’t bother me. Especially since the owner is incredibly nice and a pleasure to converse with. I’ve bumped into him twice. Each time, he is welcoming and happy, with a great attitude! He makes the place brighter with his personality alone. Once, I ordered fries, but he told me they had run out. He took the time to encourage me to get the sweet potato fries instead. He explained how he peels and cuts fresh sweet potatoes to fry versus frying frozen potato wedges for normal fries. I’m so glad he placed effort out to convince me to try the sweet potato fries. They’re really good. I recommend them too. To summarize: If you come here(which you should), order the chicken and sweet potato fries. It will not fail in making you happy.

So I haven’t tried their chicken yet, but got to try their honeydew milk tea(50% sweetness, less ice). It was my first time trying honeydew milk tea and it was… interesting. A bit on the watery side? Probably wouldn’t get it again, but I would come back and probably just get regular milk tea and try the chicken. I am giving Chick & Tea 3 stars because of 2 reasons: 1. Frank. Frank is the Asian(Taiwanese?) owner of this establishment. He was taking a break, sitting down, eating a snack; however, he seems really devoted to making sure his business is run well. He seemed very enthusiastic. 2. The name! Chick & Tea — how cute is that??? Street parking(metered), but if you’re willing to walk a few blocks and have the street parking gods smiling down upon you that day, you may find free parking in the residential area(though it might be a bit sketch).

Order at counter. No numbers given so rely on cashier’s memory or just staff calling out an item hoping for a response seemed a little haphazard. Got Milk Tea without Boba and was handed one with Boba( ) which wasn’t a bonus as the pearls were not good. .. hard and grainy in the center, which I also saw in another review. I drank around them. 1.5 stars Fried fish balls($ 2.99) is 3 skewers with three 1″ balls on each is a good value( ). No breading, good flavor. 3.5 stars G-Pie, Fried Chicken filet($ 5.99) is a good sized butterflied breast( ) There weren’t many folks there, but the kitchen seemed backed up /rushed and what I got was oily, underseasoned, and tasted sweet like. .. vanilla( ). 2 stars Not rushing back.

Chick and Tea is hidden away on a busy and crowded street where most of the neighboring shops don’t offer anything even close to similar to its market. Because of that, it’s really easy to miss and skip over this unassuming little shop, and that’s a shame because Chick & Tea is definitely something to try. We ordered the G-Pie and a couple drinks the one time we had the opportunity to try this place out. The G-Pie is a literal pronunciation for chicken filet in Chinese and is essentially a huge filet of white meat chicken breast that is breaded and fried. For those familiar with popcorn chicken at other boba shops, G-pie is essentially very similar but in a slightly different form factor. Personally, I highly prefer the G-pie over traditional popcorn chicken as you get a lot more meat without the added breading. Because they use such nice chicken filets and give you several, I would say as a snack, its definitely enough to share and is a great value. The breading is super crispy with tons of flavor, and dipped in their hot sauce, they are to die for. I honestly don’t remember what the drinks were like because of how amazing the G-pie was. But I will definitely be going back to try more of their stuff. Another plus, the owner and employees are all super friendly and conversational, without that awkward cultural divide that we in the states often mistake for extreme rudeness at many other asian joints.

This little tea shop has a cute concept that focuses on their chicken cutlet(for good reasons too!) Since I was already in the area, I thought it would be a perfect afternoon snack… With all the advertising and recommendations from Unilocalers, I ordered the chicken with no hesitation. Then my boyfriend and I each order our drinks. The drinks were pretty average compared to other boba shops that have poped up these days, but they were definite not bad by any means! The chicken though, was crispy, tender, juicy, good portioned… Basically delicious and totally worth every cent. After we finished the chicken, it took all the power in me to resist from ordering another one. I should have ordered two to begin with! Silly me.(BTW, they offer chicken CUTLET, not the popcorn chicken we’re used to ordering at boba shops!) Located in a less appealing part of town, the place seems to brighten the streets a bit, especially with the super friendly owners who work there. Will definitely be back if I’m in the area… Otherwise it is a little far from Fremont unfortunately.

New Boba shop in the Temescal district near MacArthur BART. Stopped in with my lady and we decided to order calamari and some tea boba drinks. The place is very new, the décor is colorful and pretty clean. They were out of regular sized cups and were pushing the large sized drinks. I asked for the regular sizes portion in the large sized cups, and they gladly obliged. I ordered a passion fruit iced tea boba w boba and jelly, and my lady had the strawberry milk tea. I liked my iced tea boba, it tasted a little sour but the pearls were a little too chewy. Her strawberry milk tea boba was a little chalky but had a good milky strawberry taste. Our calamari was good, the breading was done right. My only criticism is that the breading was slightly sweet. I found this a little odd for a savory calamari dish. Also, we asked for it to be spicy, and it was mild. Glad to have a boba spot in the neighborhood, and will be back to try the chicken ^_^
