This place has been closed for weeks, hopefully it’s just temporary because food was really good.

Wow. This place is amazing! Firstly there’s tons of parking which is awesome! Then when you walk in there’s pretty much a tv on every wall so no matter where you sit you can catch whatever game etc is on. But where they really shined was the food! I got the 2lb burrito. I’m pretty sure it’s probably more than 2lbs. I weigh all my food and have gotten quite a few 2lb burritos from places like chipotle and this is way bigger! Whoever said its just tortilla is definitely wrong too. Mine was chalked full of shredded quality white meat chicken, fluffy rice, retried beans, cilantro, onion and cheese. It also comes with gauc and sour cream but I asked for it on the side. The flavors were amazing! My gf got the famoso burrito and it was pretty big too. but a little too heavy on the cheese. Still delicious though! The service was also great. I’ll be back!!!

I used to like this place until it got ridiculously expensive for what they serve. And usually I don’t even look at prices. They get skimpy when it comes to sides(ie limes/lemon, tortillas/tostadas or sauces) and on top of that my order has been messed up multiple times. I only went back to try to give them a chance because their customer service is excellent besides the fact that they never answer their phone. Anyways food is good but I would rather pay those prices where the food is great.

Well since they have bumped their prices around 30% plus on each item, I’ll pass on what once was a favorite spot of mine.

I used to go here every single week sometimes 2 and even 3 times a week that was until they doubled their prices because the«owner is too cheap to fix the taco truck»(according to one of the waitresses) they used to have parked in the lot. Living in East Oakland, I have my choice of every taco truck, but Casa Jimenez is close to my house, the staff is really friendly and the food is great. But when I am charged $ 1.00 more for a burrito, WITHNOMEAT, there is a serious problem. Sorry Casa Jimenez, there is WAY too much competition for me to pay you twice as much. You lose

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years love the 2lb burrito it’s amazing or should I say was amazing it used to cost 9.95 I went today and realized I was eating the last burrito I will ever eat here when I saw the price is now 15.99 I have recommended this restaurant to countless friends and family for its quality food at reasonable prices I realize that prices go up but that seams a bit excessive to me I started reading through the menu and realized all of the entrée prices have been raised by 6 – 7 dollars 23 dollars is a bit excessive for your choice of entrée with rice and beans I was so disappointed that the prices had been raised so much since I was there no more than a month ago

I’ve been to quite a few Mexican restaurants primarily in the Los Angeles area because of work I came across Casa De Jimenez. Not only was I surprised but extremely pleased. East Oakland is not the area where you expect to find a hidden food treasure but, I did. I ordered the carne asada plate which was well portioned for two people. The food was presentation was traditional but impressive. the skirt steak was perfectly cooked, you could taste the flavorful spices and meat texture with every bite. Overall a great experience! The waitress Mayra was great, she handled our party of 7 with patience and got everything right! Great tasting food and good service! Highly recommended.

Excellent customer service. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They’ve got great carnitas and chile verde. This is my go-to mexican joint in east oakland.

This is one of the best Mexican/salvadorean restaurants I have tried in Oakland. You must order the«Jimenez Style Shrimps». This is a plate with shrimps that are stuffed with Mexican cheese and then wrapped in bacon!!! Enough said!!! Once you try this plate, you will no longer need to look at their menu. This will be your favorite dish!!! I give this place an A Plus!!!

Gross. I was a frequent costumer till a few weeks ago I ordered a chicken tamal to go, that shit was soo hard it was impossible to chew. Soo disappointed this place was ok but now seems like all they serve is left overs and re heated food.

Love the food, good price. There’s plenty of parking outside, but a bit crowded inside. Service is alright, not that great though. It took a while to get some trays to put our food to go and to get the check.

I have been coming to this place since they opened and I frequent the taco truck for lunch. Today I decided to take my parents for dinner. Food was okay as usual however the service was atrocious! Never in my life have I been served such a cold burrito! I wish I was exaggerating but I am not! For starters, If I am sitting with my family for a meal, why is my burrito double wrapped in foil?(usually, only food that is intended«to-go» is wrapped in foil) That I don’t mind so much, it is the fact that when I picked it up to unwrap it, it felt as if it was at room temperature. If the food is made to order, why is the temperature so low? I figured someone ordered it to go and never picked it up and they were trying to serve it to me… The servers watched me unwrap it and when they saw me getting a second opinion from my folks when they scattered like cockroaches. After a few minutes of avoiding me I went to the kitchen door, brought them the burrito to show them how cold it was, and to asked them to make me a fresh one because the one they served me was clearly unacceptable. They asked me if I wanted it reheated I said NO, MAKEME A FRESHONE. A few minutes later they bring me back the same burrito that was clearly microwaved. At this point I asked her why I was being served a re-heated product, when I clearly requested a fresh one. At this point I was fed up. I just sat there and let my parents finish their meal. I asked that the burrito be scratched from my bill. Fortunately, the server complied without incident. I could not believe the blatant insolence and disregard for customer service today. I am not a difficult person to deal with and I gave them several opportunities to make it right. They simply did not care.

Service is prompt and the waitstaff courteous. No hipsters evident. All the food was incredibly fresh and modestly priced. We had fish tacos with sides and red sauce. Green enchiladas were awesome. Chips are refilled several times upon request and each batch is served right out of the cooker. Pacifico beer was inexpensive, and the place has Goose Island too.

Warning… HUGE menu! If you are like me who has to read through the entire menu before ordering, then you may have to spend 10 minutes reading it!!! Came here on Tuesday for lunch around 1:30. Lots of customers still. Service was fast with water and free chips and two kinds of salsa. Salsa is pretty spicy, a bit too spicy for hot food wimp like me. I ordered half order of shrimp enchilada. Very tasty. Loved the rice with nice and fluffy texture. Bean tasted a bit sour to me, with really strong flavor. I’ll need to come back and try their other dishes. I got the to go menu so I can read it and think about what to order before I come again!

There are two things I look for in an good Mexican restaurant.. . good, handmade corn tortillas and excellent refried beans.. .casa Jimenez makes bomb ass corn tortillas.. .I MEANDAYUM!!! but the beans.. .oh, the beans.. I don’t know if it was an off night, an old batch or what but those beans tasted canned.. .or sour. . or.. .mostly tasted canned.. everything else we had was delicious.. .I had caldo de pollo and it was really good. The pupusas were even very good. and usually when you cross section Mexican with Salvadoran, the Salvadoran food is an afterthought but not here! deelicious — even the curtido was slammin’! really, really good horchata and Modelo on tap! He-yo!!! those beans tho — dammit!!! I will be back. .and I will hope that the beans I had were just off and not the norm. I cannot imagine anywhere that has such good food does not have the bean thang DOWN!

I’ve stopped for a burrito or quesadilla at their food truck on the corner of High and International a couple of times and was always happy and content. So today the mister and I felt like going to a low key place with good food, not too far from home, where I would also be happy with sticking to my current low carb diet. And happy I was! The chips and salsa was not noteworthy, but the rest of the meal was really good. We shared the tostadas de camaron and then the fajita combo. Wow! Super fresh protein, very well seasoned at a great price! The service was also very friendly and helpful. Casa Jimenez for the win! We will be back!

Casa Jimenez took over the Taco Zamorano B&M and taco truck and apparently kept much of the kitchen staff. It’s now the same owners as Los Mexicanos Market who share the same parking lot. Not sure of the connection, if any, there was to the other Zamorano locations like on Foothill. This Zamorano was known for it’s carnitas and now they have a small selection of Salvadorian food. I don’t remember pupusas on the menu before so I got both a carnitas torta($ 4.50) and a queso & loroco pupusa($ 2.50). Prices for other items are reasonable with tacos @ $ 1.50(they are $ 1.25 at the truck in the parking lot, but tortas & pupusas were the same price). First out are some chips, pico de gallo, and a red salsa( ). The chips were warm, but I don’t think made in house. The pico de gallo with generous chopped jalapenos packed more heat than the red salsa. The torta comes wrapped in foil with some sliced radishes, pickled carrots & jalapenos, and a thin salsa verde( ). The salsa verde was also spicier than the red with the chips and heavy on the cilantro. The pickled veggies had a noticeable amount of oregano which I didn’t remember from the Zamorano days. The torta itself was simple with a generous amount of moist and flavorful carnitas, a touch of mayo, lettuce and tomatoon a nice soft roll from the market’s bakery. Sour cream, guac, and cheese are each a $ 0.50 upgrade.( ). A few dry bites of meat, but overall great flavor and value for your $ 4.50. The pupusa comes on a platter with curtido and thin red salsa( ) The curtido is nice and crisp, not spicy, and heavy on the oregano and the red salsa was mild. The masa didn’t have much flavor, but good amount of loroco and a bit of leaked, griddle crusty cheese, which I always enjoy. I was surprised by this grease-free and tasty pupusa. Loud latino music plays throughout your meal.
