This Institute used to be located in a comfortable neighborhood in Berkeley; a nice building with air conditioning. But it was shut down for undisclosed reasons, changed its name from Acupressure Institute to McKinnon Body Therapy Center and relocated to a crime-ridden neighborhood in Oakland. I signed up for an acupressure class. There was no mention of the location change at any time between my enrollment and the time when my class started. If I had not happened to have gone to their website to verify the address I would have missed the start of the first class. Additionally, there is no mention of the move on the Institute’s website. They simply changed the address on the contact page. The new building has no air conditioning and no heat. The floors creak when you walk on them, and there is no handicap accessibility to the classrooms, which are upstairs. The closest parking is half a mile away and I did not feel safe leaving my car because of all the broken car glass on the ground between where the nearest parking was located and where the Institute now resides. I was afraid to walk from my car to the Institute. After two sweltering days in a tiny loft with no furniture I decided to withdraw from the class and ask for a prorated refund. Several of the students in my class stated that they had taken classes at the former Institute in Berkeley and spoke of the Institute with suspiciously stilted compliments which sounded as if they had been rehearsed.
