I love that they do this every Thursday. I’ve only come for CupKates, but will need to come for lunch one day. I’m not as familiar with the East Bay trucks, but love the rotating trucks every week.

Thank goodness there are food pods in Oakland! I know that some brick & mortar places have complained that food trucks are taking business away, but comparing quality of food and prices, food trucks are just doing it right. I’ve had subpar meals at sit-down restaurants in the downtown area that charge me around $ 5 – 8 more but aren’t as fulfilling or as flavorful as what I can get at a food truck. As a food lover on a budget, it’s really a no-brainer for me. The 12th and Broadway Pod is one of the places that have been renewed for 2013 as some have closed(like the Clay St pod that ended last December, much to my dismay!). The pod is closer to Franklin and 12th, and the regulars are Cupkates, Streatery, and 510 Burger, and they serve from 11:30 am — 2:00 pm on Thursdays. The trucks DO take credit cards; there just may be a minimum charge that you’ve got to pay in order to use it(like for Cupkates, you have to buy a minimum of 2 cupcakes in order to use a cc). Try them out and show some support!

the 12th& Broadway Pod is accessible only by foot traffic. there isn’t any viable street parking around. the few times i’ve gone by here, only the Cupkates truck was present. @3+, i’d rather eat a taco. locale: 12th& Broadway, oakland, thurs. 11:30 – 2pm. –they close exactly by 2 if not before. they paid for the space at a prearranged rate. foodnotes: –only food trucks at oakland pods are the ones in the oakland food truck group: «doc, street, vesta, cupkates, pizza, etc) –whoever sells has to share in the cost of the space…

12th& Broadway Pod Pod updates: Hours: Thursdays 11:30am-2pm 3 food trucks Revised regulations earlier this year in Oakland, now allow mobile vendors to seek permits to assemble pods of 3 or more food trucks. This was the 2nd new pod to debut last month, on May 17, 2012. It’s organized by the Cupkates truck. Every Thursday for lunch, the food trucks park on 12th Street between Broadway and Franklin, right next to the Comerica Bank. And also near the 12th Street BART station. Special green signs that say«Tow Away. No parking, mobile food vending group site event» mark the spot. This location was a regular stop for the Cupkates truck, because I’ve seen it parked here many times before alone. I seldom buy cupcakes, so I didn’t think to stop before. But I’ve reconsidered that now that many other food trucks are involved. Happy food truck hunting!
