YIKES! Big mistake coming here for New Years Eve. Service was horrendous and the food was even worse. Raviolis tasted like they were straight from the can. The menu for NYE was atrocious. Lentil soup for an appetizer? I understand its good luck but COMEON. Safe to say I will not be back here.

Great little restaurant in a quite part of town. My wife stumbled upon this place while out for lunch with my grand mother one afternoon. She didn’t hope for mug by the side of the LIE, but boy was she impressed! She made me come back a few days later and after several visits, I’m here writing a review. As a manhattanite, I expect restaurants in queens to be a notch below what we have back in the gridlocked garden, but L’Italiano changed my mind! The food is wonderful. The chicken soup is a rich, thick meal in itself, leaps better than the watery«soup» served at nearby diners. The pasta is cooked perfectly, and the accompanying meats are grilled to perfection and paired with delicious, savory sauces. I’ve had a fillet mignon dinner special and I confidently say it’s one of the best I’ve had east of Peter Luger’s. Consider this spot when you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed. The locals already know the secret, let’s get the word out there!

The fried calamari was ok. Given we were the only guest here, the wait time for the appetizer and entrée is longer than expected. I don’t think I will go back again

My friend and I went for dinner time. The ambiance was cozy, warm, and low-lit. Kind of a romantic setting because of the use of dim light. The table was set nicely. The waitress was friendly. Whoever poured our glasses of wine was VERY generous. We shared a penne ala vodka and a pollo ala marsala with vegetables. Both plates were fabulous. Perfect for anyone who likes a good pasta!

I went to Trattoria L’Italiano for the first time last week. It was an altogether positive experience. Pleasant surroundings, good service and great food. I had the grilled trout filet and it was cooked perfectly as were the side dishes. I will definitely be back.

I dont know what the reviews are about. Ive been going there for 10 years and not once did I have bad service or anything less than steller food. The food is amazing and homemade. The dessert usually have some staples and some variations — always amazing. The food is fresh daily and the family style host are a comfort in todays world. Not once have I waited — but on high holidays and celebrated days be wise and make a reservation. A plus

The food here is delicious and made to order. The fish is extremely fresh and the pasta and deserts are homemade. One is able to taste the love that Grace, the owner and chef, puts into each and every dish. Highly recommended. The cruel reviews are interestingly older ones so people should definitely give this restaurant a try.

I DONTKNOWWHYALLTHESEPEOPLESHITONTHISPLACE. This is how home Italian family style cooking is supposed to be! YES, this place has its problems when it’s a big party because the mother is the head chef. Think of it this way, nice food takes time! :) My sister had her rehearsal dinner here and had birthdays here where the food is always great! They are so nice and they treat customers like family! Definitely try their seasonal specials. ESPECIALLY their seafood-fennel-orange salad and VEALCHOP!

My guy and I went here on a recommendation. Really nice people, but I have to agree with earlier reviewers that said the food was bland. There really is no flavor to the dishes. We ordered a margherita pizza to share and it came without basil. It wasn’t as crisp as I feel brick oven pizza should be. I tried the special, chicken and eggplant. I feel that Queens has so many good Italian places to choose from. Sadly this was not one of them.

I was expecting a great dining experience from this cozy little restaurant on the corner of Bell blvd and Horace Harding expressway but I was in for a surprise. We were serve cold white bread drizzled in olive oil and some very low end wines. The veal dish was extremely salty and lacked any flavor. The chicken dish was also very salty and the chicken breast was like rubber, like they have been micro-waved. We added the pasta as a side and again way too much salt. This is a family owned and run restaurant where someone needs to learn how to cook. The pictures look much better than the food tastes. Will not be going back!

I have eaten here for the past few years. My parents live a block away and we would walk to this cute little restaurant for some very authentic tasting Italian food. I was very surprised at alot of the negative reviews. The only thing I can agree with would be the service. Sometimes a large crowd may come in and it may get overwhelming for the staff. The food however is something that reminds me of what my grandmother made. As I said before, it is very authentic italian food and not the americanized version of italian food. Pizza is very tasty as an appetizer, pastas are always cooked to perfection. It is a great place to go to when you want good, Sicilian food. Italian people enjoy coming here(myself being one of them) which to me says alot about the food.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. Firstly, because it is a locally owned place and secondly, the owners are really nice people who do a lot for the neighborhood. Unfortunately, this review is based solely on the quality of food which is subpar. My family and I have been here a couple of times. On each subsequent visit we hoped that the food would get better, but it just didn’t. The food has come out cold, the flavor are masked in garlic and are overly bland, the menu is not very inventive. I spent twenty minutes looking at the menu the other night and nothing seemed appetizing. The food is not bad, just boring. The main problem is that the food tastes like something you whip up at home after a long day at work. There is a distinct lack of flavor or emotion in all of the dishes. I expect unique flavors and unusual takes on food when I dine out. At the very least, I expect the food to surpass the quality of a hastily prepared home meal. I must stress that I want this place to theive and do well. I hope they take all the Unilocal criticisms and come up with a game plan. My suggestions: get a quality chef as a consultant for a new menu, do a few dishes really well rather than a lot of dishes poorly and show some passion for the food with quality ingredients and a decent presentation.
