I have been coming in here for 12 years. I keep coming back. That’s a fact. Opinion is that I most often find what I am looking for and unfortunately for me, I often find several more things that I apparently cannot live without. Hence my larger totals at the checkout station. Staff are friendly, always checking to see if I need help. I appreciate it. This is a good hardware store.

While I appreciate the selection this True Value store has, I don’t appreciate the high prices and that it seems to take forever to get someone to assist me with questions – it’s happened to me three times in a row. Today(1÷12÷16), I wanted to buy an item with a coupon, but they were out of the item and I was told, «Just come back tomorrow – as you can see, we’ve got a lot of merchandise to put up.» What!!! Sure, I’ll just drive back tomorrow the entire 26 miles one-way, on the off chance that«maybe» the product you advertised might now be in stock. This seems to happen to me every time I try to find an item on sale in this store. Thanks but no thanks. You’re better off taking your hard-earned money elsewhere.

Poor service. Tried to get a key made 9÷9÷15 at 12:50 pm. Rang buzzer several times as a line formed around me. When the lady finally showed up, and I ask for a key to be made, she gave me an ugly look and said, «it’s going to take a while» and then said I could wait until she made keys for the people in line behind me. Everybody don’t waist your time here. Faster just to go to Fresno.

Great store with great staff! So unlike Home Depot, Lowes and the like where the staff runs when they see you coming.

Good selection of merchandise. Prices a little high but it’s local and convenient. The outward demonstrations of «customer service» are plastered on a little thick. You are accosted in nearly every aisle by employees asking«How are you?» and«Do you need help?» I must appear very confused by pvc fittings etc. This is annoying and distracting if you just wish to go about your business and get on to other things. I’m not afraid to ask for help when I need it. Also, it would be nice if they’d stop asking«Did anyone give you excellent service?» at the checkout counter. Unless you are simple you understand that this is nothing more than another attempt to demonstrate, without much effort or cost, how much they«care». If they actually wish to provide good customer service then maybe they should instruct the cashiers to not engage in long-winded, chatty and dustbaggy conversations while everybody else waits in line. However, there are some other posts here which suggest«racial profiling». This appears to me to be typical whiny nonsense.

Polite and helpful employees, but outrageous prices. For example, a 40 lb bag of Morton’s salt(for water conditioners) at Sam’s Club is $ 4. At true value, it’s $ 7. These people are ripping off their own community, where most residents are either retired, or are on some type of Government subsistence.

From the moment you walk in you are being helped by friendly staff. I have shopped at both stores for 17 years and have always been pleased with customer service. Being in a small community, I appreciate all the extra little items they carry so I can avoid driving to Fresno, Madera, or Merced.

Staff is friendly and helpful and prompt to ask if they can assist. I’ve never had to wait to track someone down. They have most of the basics of any hardware store and you can generally get what you need. Being they are the only game in town, they are a bit on the pricey side compared to other large chain stores such as Home Depot or Lowes. So some items we held off on till we make it down to Clovis/Fresno, the nearest large town.

The second I walked by the female employees, they dogged me. Imagine a row of women staring you down in consecutive order. This is what I experienced. Even the customers avoided me like the plague. They didn’t want to cross my path or stand in the same aisle as me. Although the employees were verbally polite, don’t think that I’m overreacting. I read body language well and I know racism when I see it. Communal racism though? That’s a first for me. I couldn’t get out of here fast enough. For the guy who called this whiny nonsense. I am not quick to pull the racism card and it is very rare when I do. I’ve not been Unilocal Elite three consecutive years for nothing. Note I wasn’t just«whining» about the employees, it was the customers as well. And I think you were implying that I was implying that I claimed racism because they weren’t helpful, but that is so far off from what I wrote in my review. I won’t bother to clarify as I was being clear enough, but anyways, thank you for your comment and review. It was a lovely attempt to discredit mine.

This is the second remodeled true value store I have visited in the foothills. They are very large and therefore carry a little bit of everything. They have a focus on the items locals would need like wood stove fuels. I even found small appliances and home décor.
